| THE FIRST 21 BANDS CONFIRMED FOR SWEDEN ROCK FESTIVAL 2007
We can now proudly present the first 21 bands confirmed to play Sweden Rock festival in June 2007. We have, after this, another 50 bands to present before the final line-up is ready. We look forward to our most impressive line-up ever!
We are of course very proud to present HEAVEN & HELL as one of our headliners at the 2007 festival. The band that should have been called Black Sabbath but for some reasons don't. The band contains all four members from the albums Mob Rules, Dehumanizer and Live Evil and three of the members (Bill Ward was still the drummer back then) were also involved in the album Heaven & Hell. So we look forward to see Ronnie James Dio, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler och Vinnie Appice at Sweden Rock Festival 2007! Confirmed bands so far:HEAVEN & HELL (UK) They weren't allowed to use the name they actually deserved, but what's a name when the line-up and the music is what matters? Ronnie James Dio, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler and Vinnie Appice are Black Sabbath, but had to name themselves after one of the two classic albums this line-up produced (where the second is entitled "Mob Rules"). When Ozzy left Black Sabbath Dio came in like a saving angel and "Heaven & Hell" killed all doubts about Black Sabbath risking to be down for the count. Album tips: "Heaven & Hell", "Mob Rules" BLIND GUARDIAN (D) At the time of Blind Guardian's debut "Battalions of Fear" in 1988, few would have guessed that these humble Helloween-wannabes would develop into one of Europe's biggest and most influential metal acts. These days the band is every bit as famous for pompous arrangements as for musical speed, and they have successfully maintained their grip on their devoted fanbase with their eighth and most recent album "A Twist in the Myth". Even at this early stage, it seems likely that Hansi Kürsch & Co. will be considered one of the main attractions of SRF 2007. MOTÖRHEAD (UK) Well, you didn't expect them to stay away two years in a row this time - either? Drinking whisky, making records, touring their asses off and showing up at SRF every other year - Motörhead have their traditions, and those are not for breaking! As always, expect Lemmy, Phil and Mikkey to lambast you with volume and classic tracks. The immense "Bomber"-lightrig will also grace the stage once more, and a very special guest will also be present. Who, you ask? Be patient, you'll find out soon enough? REO SPEEDWAGON (US) Time for a classic AOR-band for Sweden Rock. REO Speedwagon has released as much as 16 albums (compilations not included) and are regarded one of the biggest bands in the genre, together with colleagues like Styx, Foreigner and Journey. Their biggest hits are, of course, power ballads such as "Keep On Loving You" and "Take It On The Run". Album tips: "Nine Lives" and "High Infindelity" THE AUSTRALIAN PINK FLOYD SHOW (AUS) The Wednesday headliner is a show which will give most nostalgics wet dreams. Because of their big and extravagant live show they will be the only band on the main stage this day, which will give you a picture of the size of the show. We of course wish it would have possible to get the original here, but as you all probably understand it's impossible. The question is if the original actually would be better than - The Australian Pink Floyd Show. TROUBLE (US) Only Candlemass can equal Trouble from Chicago, when the topic is legendary status and 80s doom. Between 1984 and 1995, this lot released six albums, each and every one a must-have for any supporter of this genre. Now, after twelve years and numerous delays, Trouble's comeback album "Simple Mind Condition" will appear in February 2007. Followed swiftly by the band's very first appearance at SRF - naturally, fronted by the classic duo Eric Wagner (vocals) and Bruce Franklin (guitar)! KREATOR (D) Europe's biggest thrash metal-band of all times? Who else, if not the legends of Essen fronted by little big man Mille Petrozza? Ever since 1985 and "Endless Pain", Kreator have ravaged the world with brutal metal, excepting a couple of experimental releases in the 90s. But ever since their magnificent comeback with "Violent Revolution" in 2001, Kreator once more delivers nothing but fierce metal at its finest. Brace yourself for a moshpit unsurpassed! UDO (D) With a new and fresh album in the baggage we can expect another German invasion at Sweden Rock 2007. Udo Dirkschneider handles the vocals as usual, and his former Accept side-kick Stefan Kaufman is also in the line-up. U.D.O. made their debut in 1987 with the album "Animal House" and has since then made ten albums. Despite a couple of Accept re-unions he keeps coming back to his solo band and now he's here for another dose. Album tips: "Animal House", "Solid" och "Mission No X" SUZI QUATRO (UK) In the seventies Suzi Quatro was an icon for female bass players, posing in tight leather as tall as the bass herself. She had several hits together with contemporary bands like Slade, The Sweet and Mud (just like the two latter she also had her songs mostly written by Chinn-Chapman), wher the biggest ones were "Devil Gate Drive", "48 Crash", "Glycerine Queen" and "Can The Can". In 2006 she was back with a new album entitled "Back To The Drive" where she proved she still knows how to rock 'n roll. Album tips: "Quatro", "Your Mama Won't Like Me" och "Back To The Drive" GOV'T MULE (US) The first southern type blues band out is a power quartet (an extended power trio) which really deserve the label. Despite bass player Allen Woody's tragic demise in 2000 Gov't Mule kept the flame burning and recently released the new album "High & Mighty". This is the band's first visit to Sweden, even though they have been high up on the wish lists for several years. Todays line-up consists of Danny Louis, Andy Hess, Matt Abts and Warren Haynes. Warren has also released three solo albums and been found in the late incarnation of The Allman Brothers. Album tips: "Gov't Mule", "Life Before Insanity" and "High & Mighty HARDCORE SUPERSTAR (S) The beginning wasn't totally convincing, and for a while there the band appeared to be at the brink of dissolution. But then, in 2005, Hardcore Superstar returned with their fourth and eponymous album, sounding more like Mötley Crüe than Mötley Crüe themselves, thereby establishing the fact that sleaze is alive and well in Gothenburg! Ever since the band have maintained a highly prolific live act, and are now heading for Norje for the second year in a row. BLACK OAK ARKANSAS (US) They took the name from the city and state they came from, even if they at first, already in 1965, were known as The Knowbody Else. In 1972 they had a drummer named Dork Johnson, who later played with bands like Ozzy Osbourne, Whitesnake, House Of Lords and Yngwie Malmsteen, but under a different name - Tommy Aldridge. The band's current drummer is named Johnnie Bolin and is actually brother of the late Tommy. The band's central figure if of course singer Jim Dandy and the band Black Oak Arkansas. Album tips: Raunch 'N' Roll - Live" and "High On The Hog" THUNDER (UK) With their roots in the blues based hard rock and with influences of bands like Free British band Thunder have released a number of albums through the years. They started it all with "Backstreet Symphony" in 1989, an album which gave them the title "Best New Band" in Kerrang in 1990. On their new album "Robert Johnson's Tombstone" they have takien a firm grip on their blues roots, moved it into the 2000's and produced a top notch album. Album tips: "Backstreet Symphony", "Laughing On Judgement Day", "Robert Johnson's Tombstone" THE ANSWER (UK) It seems like Britain has exploded in some kind of back-to-the-roots-wave, where good old seventies influenced hard rock with wide jeans is a word of honour. It seems like the answer to the question which band seems to be leading the wave is - The Answer. The band's debut album, "Rise", has made a knock out on the English audience. One proof is that the band won Classic Rock's price for "Best New Band 2005" Album tip: "Rise" AXEL RUDI PELL (D/US) German guitarist Axel Rudi Pell was in the band Steeler during the 80s, but has been active as a solo artist, at first with Jeff Scott Soto and nowadays with Johnny Gioeli (of American hair metal-band Hardline) as a vocalist. Musically Axel has always been devoted to melodic 80s rock, and his latest release "Mystica" certainly is no exception. Expect strong vocals, catchy melodies and unmistakable Rainbow-influences when Axel and his merry men enter the stage in Norje. CIRCUS MAXIMUS (N) Circus Maximus is possibly Norway's brightest hope for the future in terms of progressive metal. Being influenced by 70s rock as well as death metal, the end result is reminiscent of giants such as Dream Theater and Symphony X. The band will start recording their second album in February, for the release to coincide with SRF. Don't miss this acclaimed act, and pay special attention to singer Michael Eriksen! RANDY PIPER´S ANIMAL (US) We all obviously remember Randy Piper as the guitar player of the first two, classic W.A.S.P.-albums. With Randy Piper's Animal he has so far released two records, and the origin of the sound is not to be mistaken - a 100 % gritty W.A.S.P.-groove! The band's nucleus consists of Randy and talented vocalist Rich Lewis, and these days the line-up also includes Swedish axe-wielder Chris Laney (Zan Clan). TOKYO DRAGONS (UK) These Brits (who, coincidentally, graced the Hultsfred Festival with their presence in 2005) like their rock basic, gritty, and topped wih a little glam to really get in the mood for beer-drinking? The quartet is currently working on the follow-up to their acclaimed debut "Give Me the Fear" (2005) - more party rock, unmistakably "made in Britain" but with an American flavor, is guaranteed! And, as the crowd at SRF 2007 will soon find out, Tokyo Dragons are also already an experienced live act. ELDRITCH (I) Eldritch definitely rank among the most important bands within the floodwave of Italian melodic metal. They debuted as early as 1995 and are currently working on their seventh album. With influences such as Fates Warning, Annihilator, Queensrÿche and Coroner, Eldritch's music is obviously powerful and finely crafted. And to reassure anyone who has a problem with Italian accents: singer Terence Holler is a bona fide American. LION'S SHARE (S) In 1995, this band's eponymous debut spearheaded the return of melodic metal to Sweden. Since the release of album number four, "Entrance" in 2001, Lion's Share have kept a somewhat low profile, but now they're back once more with an exciting new line-up. Guitarist Lars Chriss is, as always, at the helm, and as a frontman we find the arguably most talked-about Swedish singer of recent times: Patrik Johansson (also in Astral Doors). Welcome back to SRF in 2007, Lion's Share! FALCONER (S) The Swedish kings of folk metal have previously attended SRF with robe-clad Destiny-vocalist Kristoffer Göbel as their frontman, but this will be the first time with classically trained original singer Mathias Blad, who made a triumphant return to the band on their fifth and latest album "Northwinds". Actually, for the first time in history Falconer officially consists of members of equal status and talent, so this could very well turn out as one of the festival's biggest surprises! In a positive sense, obviously?

| DIMMU BORGIR FINALLY CONFIRMED FOR SWEDEN ROCK FESTIVAL!
Now here's a long overdue SRF-feature: Norway's, and arguably the world's biggest black metal act. On their most recent release of fresh material, "Death Cult Armageddon" (2003), Shagrath et al. permanently raised the bar for grandiose and orchestral black metal, and now the sequel is finally here. Just in time for the fans to learn some brand new material for Dimmu Borgir's very first onslaught on Sweden Rock Festival! | THREE MORE BANDS CONFIRMED FOR SWEDEN ROCK FESTIVAL 2007
Here comes a little christmas present to all of you.
We can now proudly present canadian power/thrash-masters ANNIHILATOR, american cult legends in southern rock, POINT BLANK and danish dynamite in the shape of PRETTY MAIDS.
We will now close down the office until Januari 8, but you will still be able to reach us via e-mail and hopefully we will announce some more confirmed bands during that time so keep an eye on our homepage! We wish you alla a merry christmas and a happy new year!ANNIHILATOR (CAN) Vancouver's Annihilator - all but synonymous with guitar wiz Jeff Waters - were an instant smash hit with the metallers of the world when their first album "Alice in Hell" appeared in 1989. Most fans would agree that the band has had its ups and downs after the release of this US-power/thrash metal masterpiece, but also that Annihilator's most recent albums definitely rank among their creative highpoints. A while ago the band made their all in all second visit to Sweden at the 34 000 Ton Metal-cruise. This obviously was not nearly enough fo Annihilator, since they are now heading for SRF 2007. (We recommend: "Alice in Hell", "Never Neverland", "Criteria for a Black Widow".) POINT BLANK (US) Sometimes dreams do come true! In the middle of the seventies ZZ Top's manager Bill Ham took on another band in the same genre, blues based southern rock. This band also hailing from Texas. They group released six albums before throwing in the towel in the early eighties. They had in the end changed from heavy southern rock to quite light weight AOR. In 2005 they reformed for a benefit concert, and next year they will appear at Sweden Rock! Album tips: "Point Blank", "Second Season" and "The Hard Way" PRETTY MAIDS (DK) On their new album "Wake Up To The Real World" Danish band Pretty Maids prove that they, despite some time off and a change of drummer, could deliver yet another album of absolute top quality. After having witnessed the band live myself at Amager Bio in Copenhagen about a week ago, I can verify Pretty Maids are more vital than ever. They still mix their classic melodic hard rock with a dose of crushingly heavy riff and a couple of up-tempo rockers. Danish dynamite, you bet! Recommended listening: "Wake Up To The New World", "Sin-Decade" and "Red Hot & Heavy" CONFIRMED BANDS SO FAR OUT OF 70 BANDS IN ALLHEAVEN & HELL (UK) Ronnie James Dio - Tony Iommi - Geezer Butler - Vinnie Appice BLIND GUARDIAN (D) MOTÖRHEAD (UK) REO SPEEDWAGON (US) DIMMU BORGIR (N) THE AUSTRALIAN PINK FLOYD SHOW (AUS) TROUBLE (US) KREATOR (D) UDO (D) SUZI QUATRO (UK) GOV'T MULE (US) ANNIHILATOR (CAN) POINT BLANK (US) PRETTY MAIDS (DK) HARDCORE SUPERSTAR (S) BLACK OAK ARKANSAS (US) THUNDER (UK) THE ANSWER (UK) AXEL RUDI PELL (D/US) CIRCUS MAXIMUS (N) RANDY PIPER´S ANIMAL (US) TOKYO DRAGONS (UK) ELDRITCH (I) LION'S SHARE (S) FALCONER (S) MEMFIS (S)

| 5 NEW BANDS CONFIRMED FOR SWEDEN ROCK FESTIVAL 2007
SYMPHONY X (US)
Symphony X from New Jersey is arguably the only band being serious competitors with Dream Theater for the championship in progressive/symphonic metal. Their eponymous debut was released in 1994, followed shortly by new vocalist Russell Allan joining the ranks - and now Symphony X was a force to be seriously reckoned with. The following six releases - five studio and one live - are all classics and totally indispensable for any fan of progressive metal. Since the release of "The Odyssey" in 2002 the band has mainly devoted their energy to different side projects, and their scheduled appearance at SRF last years had to be cancelled for bassist Mike Lepond to undergo an emergency stomach operation. But better late than never: Symphony X will soon be releasing their highly anticipated seventh studio album, and are now confirmed for their first SRF-appearance since 2001. Front figures are, as always, the above-mentioned Russell Allan and lauded guitarist Michael Romeo. (We recommend: "The Damnation Game", "The Divine Wings of Tragedy", "The Odyssey".) SKID ROW (US) When you talk about the eighties and sleaze a couple of bands are always mentioned, one of them is of course Skid Row. In the eighties the band was fronted by Sebastian Bach, who actually visited Sweden Rock a few years ago. The band had some massive hits with songs like "18 and Life", "Youth Gone Wild" and "I Remember You". Skid Row has, since Sebastian left, proven they still can deliver the goods, this when they returned in 1999 when the highly potent lead singer Johnny Solinger. The band has since released two albums, "Thickskin" and the latest release "Revolution Per Minute". QUIET RIOT (US) Kevin Dubrow, Randy Rhoades, Drew Forsyth och Kelli Garni once formed the basics of Quite Riot. The band's first two albums only saw the light of day on the Japanese market. After this Randy was hired by Ozzy Osbourne and tragically died in a plane crash in 1982. Kevin however kept the banner flying and made great impact in the eighties hair band era with the album "Metal Health". The band even had a couple of massive hits with two old Slade-numbers; "Cum Feel The Noize" and "Mama Weer All Crazee Now" in the eighties. This year, after some time of silence Quiet Riot's new album "Rehab" shows the band is still rocking strong. Today's line-up consists of Kevin, Alex Grossi (guitar), Chuck Wright (bass) and long time member Franki Banali (drums). KORPIKLAANI (FIN) Korpiklaani band leader Jonne Järvelä is perhaps best known as the supplier of yoik vocals on the Finntroll album "Jaktens Tid" (2001), but his own band also deserves wider recognition outside of their native Finland. Under their previous name Shaman, the band released two albums in Lappish (!). They released their first album as Korpiklaani in 2003, and their fourth one unde that monicker will appear in May, titled "Teravaskanto". Korpiklaani's lyrics are mainly in English, but they also often write in Finnish and traditional Finnish music and instruments are one of the cornerstones of the band's recognizable sound. The other one is, obviously, vicious hard rock. Much like Finntroll, Korpiklaani have the status of folk metal-kings in their home country. By attending SRF, they will undoubtedly gain a legion of new fans in Sweden as well. (We recommend: "Spirit of the Forest", "Voice of the Wilderness", "Tales Along This Road".) MCQUEEN (UK) From Brighton, England, comes this female and punky quartet, who opened for such bands as Cheap Trick, L.A. Guns, W.A.S.P. and The Almighty before they had even released their first album! Said album hit the shops in January 2007, titled "Break the Silence". Since its release, McQueen have already appeared at a festival in Vietnam (!) and are about to embark on a tour in Germany. So it will be a both tight and aggressive live unit that comes to add the audience at SRF to their list of conquests. (We recommend: "Break the Silence".)
