| RUSH - Neil Peart's Burning For Buddy Now On DVD Previously only available on VHS, the complete Buddy Rich Memorial Scholarship Concerts and The Making Of Burning For Buddy are now available on DVD (released in 2006). The Buddy Rich Memorial Scholarship Concerts contains RUSH drummer Neil Peart performing three songs with the BUDDY RICH BAND at the Ritz Theater in New York City on April 8, 1991. These concerts ultimately led to the Burning For Buddy albums whose recording sessions were documented on The Making of Burning For Buddy. The Buddy Rich Memorial Scholarship Concerts Synopsis: "This 2 DVD set (previously available on 4 VHS video tapes) contains 4 1/2 hours of incredible performances by 11 of the world's greatest drummers, together with the Buddy Rich Big Band. Disc 1 contains the sessions from Los Angeles on October 14, 1989 and includes Louie Bellson, Gregg Bissonette, Dennis Chambers, Dave Weckl, Vinnie Colaiuta and Steve Gadd (two tracks each). Disc 2 contains the sessions from New York City on April 8, 1991 and includes Neil Peart, Marvin 'Smitty' Smith, Steve Smith (three tracks each), Omar Hakim (two tracks), and Wil Calhoun (one track). Special features include three rare Buddy Rich performances and a photo gallery. Running time 270 minutes." The Making Of Burning For Buddy Synopsis: "In May of 1994, Neil Peart undertook a recording project which will forever stand as the ultimate tribute to Bernard 'Buddy' Rich. He and Buddy's daughter, Cathy, invited eighteen of the most respected drummers in the world to New York's Power Station studio, and for two weeks, each day, two or three world-class drummers would perform with the Buddy Rich Big Band. To quote Neil Peart: 'I'll never forget those two weeks at the Power Station. I'd walk in excited every morning, wondering what's going to happen today?' The result of this monumental project (released on CD by Atlantic Records) was some of the most exciting music ever put on tape. This DVD contains preparation for the recording, final takes, interviews with the drummers about Buddy, candid footage of the control room during play back, and more, all tied together by Neil Peart's beautiful commentary. This 2 DVD set (previously available on 4 VHS video tapes), features: Kenny Aronoff, Gregg Bissonette, Bill Bruford, Billy Cobham, Steve Ferrone, Steve Gadd, David Garibaldi, Omar Hakim, Joe Morello, Rod Morgenstein, Neil Peart, Max Roach, Simon Phillips, Ed Shaughnessy, Marvin 'Smitty' Smith, Steve Smith, Matt Sorum and Dave Weckl. A photo slide show is included as a bonus feature. Running time 300 minutes" (Thanks Power Windows) | |

| RUSH Rumor - New Album Working Title: "Snakes And Arrows" The following report is courtesy of premier RUSH fansite Power Windows: Although nothing has been announced officially, there are rumors that the working title of RUSH's new album is Snakes And Arrows or Snakes And Ladders. Interviews with drummer Neil Peart have stated that religion in America will be the primary lyrical topic. This explanation of Snakes And Arrows (from Innertraditions.com) sheds a bit of light on the relevance of such a title: "Chutes and Ladders, the popular children’s game, is derived from the ancient Hindu game Leela, or Snakes and Arrows, which charts the ups and downs of the soul’s path toward reunion with the Infinite. Snakes and Arrows was designed by the seers and saints of India as a tool for understanding the relationship of the individual self to the Absolute Self. For thousands of years the 72 spaces on this game board have enabled players to chart the paths that represent the course of their lives. Each space represents a virtue or a vice, an aspect of consciousness, or a plane of reality and is accompanied by a commentary explaining its meaning. The player’s progress on the board is dictated by the fall of a die corresponding to the forces of karma. Repeated encounters with the snakes and arrows on the board reveal the full meaning of the commentaries and can give shape to habitual patterns of the player, resulting in greater self-understanding and even a gradual detachment from the ego’s delusions | |

| New RUSH Album To Be Completed By End Of The Month!
The following report is courtesy of RUSH fansite Power Windows: On Monday (January 15th), RUSH guitarist Alex Lifeson spoke with Canada's Rock Station about the new album. Alex states the band came to LA on Monday, January 15th to mix album and should be done by the end of the month. The album took only 30 days to record, the shortest time they have taken to record an album since A Farewell To Kings. Andrew MacNaughtan has been video taping the entire project, with the possibility of including a making of DVD. The band plans on launching a North American tour on June 12th or 13th, running through the end of the year, to be followed by dates in Europe and South America. When asked about the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Lifeson states "I couldn't care less, look who's up for induction, its a joke".
