THUNDERSTONE Makes Shortlist Of 24 Songs For Eurovision Song Contest 2007
According to Esctoday.com, YLE announced the song titles and authors for the 24 songs fighting for the honour of representing the host country, Finland at the Eurovision Song Contest 2007 in Helsinki. YLE tried a new system last year with well known results so they decided to stick to it this time around. Four semi finals will be held, and preview shows will also be aired five days before each show. Twelve artists chosen by YLE and the music industry will each perform two songs in semi finals and televoting will send the best one to the final in Turku on February 17. The four semi finals, each with three artists and six songs will be held in Tampere at the Tohloppi Tv-studios while the final will move to Turku’s Karibia like last year. This selection method was used for the first time in 2006 and proved successful not only because it brought Finland its first victory but also gave birth to several domestic radio hits besides LORDI’s huge success on sales.
Power metallers THUNDERSTONE have made the shortlist. All times, stations, and song titles are as follows:
Semi-final 1, Sat. Jan 20 at 19.00-20.20 (YLE TV2, YLE Radio Vega)
Preview: Mon. Jan 15 at 18.15-18.45 (YLE Radio Suomi):
Thunderstone: 'Forevermore'
Thunderstone: 'Face In The Mirror'
Thunderstone’s lead singer Pasi Rantanen who sung those high Aaa’s in Lordi’s Hard rock hallelujah chorus on stage in Athens is a close friend of Mr Lordi and will surely bring hard rock back to Euroviisut this year. Thunderstone release their fourth album on 14th March worldwide except the USA where it will come out later in spring.
