QUIET RIOT Singer On Bassist Rudy Sarzo - "We Did Not Enjoy Each Other's Company Musically Or Personally"Kevin Dubrow, the long time lead vocalist of
QUIET RIOT, has spoken out on
his dislike for former bassist Rudy Sarzo (DIO, ex-WHITESNAKE, OZZY OSBOURNE). In an interview with The Classic Metal Show (which can be heard
here), Dubrow lashed out at Sarzo, as well as admitting that the last years of the band's existence with their most popular lineup were dysfunctional as relationships were bad between him and Sarzo, as well as between drummer Frankie Banali and guitarist Carlos Cavazo.
Classic Metal Show: I know you have a certain affection for the '60s and '70s stuff, as reminiscent from your solo album. You seem to be going in that direction now because it is you and Frankie, and you have a good working relationship as well as a friendship. You two seemed to be able to agree on that (direction).
DuBrow: "Exactly. The thing is, with the old band, I got along great with Carlos. Frankie and him didn't even speak. The less said about Rudy the better. Obviously, we were not friends and we did not enjoy each other's company musically or personally. So, when you are in a band like that, the productivity is going to be somewhat limited."
Classic Metal Show: Sure, well now that you two have control...
DuBrow: "Yeah. We don't have the distraction of people that have their own agendas. We did ask Carlos to rejoin, but he wasn't interested unless it was with Rudy. Thats...thats...That's pretty much like asking me about Spencer (Proffer, ex-Quiet Riot producer). That would happen the day that hell does freeze over!
