AMANDA SOMERVILLE Issues HDK Project Update, Recording Backing Vocals For ANDRE MATOS And EPICA Albums

Vocalist Amanda Somerville has issued the following update:

"A big up from Wolfsburg, y'all!!!

Well, spent last week in the hoppin' city of Reuver, the Netherlands with one of the craziest Dutchmen on the planet. I'm referring, of course, to Sander Gommans of AFTER FOREVER, tierische god of guitar shredding and grunter extraordinaire. The visit was quite productive and we got about half of the songs done for the HDK project. We even did pilot vocals, with me grunting and screaming and singing like Scott Stapp, ex-CREED singer - scary! And NO - you will never hear that! That is, unless Sander has a sudden sadistic streak. Ha! We'll keep working in the meantime and will most likely meet up again towards the end of the month to continue the madness.

Now, I have the honor of having Andre Matos (ex-SHAAMAN) as a guest in my home and we will be starting recordings for backing vocals tomorrow. Fun! After that, Simone will be coming back to finish the vocals and we'll also have three days of choir sessions for the new EPICA album. Coen has his whip ready! So, that's it from me for now.

By the way, I'm still getting questions as to where you can find my albums. I guess the Broadjam button isn't showing up right now, but you can get the songs that are here on my page and more at www.broadjam.com/amandasomerville as a preview to my new album, Windows. Windows has not yet been released!!! I'm still working on that, so bear with me.

As for previous releases, those can be purchased directly from my website at www.amandasomerville.com/music.htm. Sound clips are there, too. I'm running out of those, so get them while you can because I won't be pressing more. That's it! Finito!

AMANDA SOMERVILLE - Solo Song Mistakenly Identified As Unreleased Demo From EVANESCENCE Vocalist AMY LEE

Amanda Somerville, known in metal circles for her work with EPICA, AFTER FOREVER and EDGUY as a backing vocalist, vocal coach and collaborator, has issued the following update:

“Hello everyone, especially this time to EVANESCENCE fans,

I was searching the web for an interview I'd done a while ago and serendipity-stumbled upon these threads on an Evanescence forum:

A lot of you know my song, ‘Angel of Mine’ (which can be heard at the YouTube link), but I got quite a kick out of reading what others have written about it. Apparently there's been some sort of controversy with people thinking that the song was an early, unreleased demo sung by Amy Lee of Evanescence (I'm taking this as a compliment).

I guess it was on LimeWire and some other sites for people to download and listed without an author or as ‘Amy Lee’ or ‘Evanescence’ as the author/performer. There are a bunch of discussions about it, also on YouTube and Wikipedia.

Amy Lee herself even commented on it, saying that she checked it out and, ‘Nope, I've never heard this before. It's not me!’

Here's what I posted to the forum:

‘Angel of Mine’ was indeed written and sung by me and one that I recorded in December of 1998 in my parents' basement on a piece of crap 8-track as a demo! I believe this was probably quite some time before anyone had ever heard of Amy Lee or Evanescence. It was released on my first solo CD called, ‘In The Beginning, There Was…’ in 2000. I got a kick out your postings, though! I had NO idea there was such a controversy built up around the song.’”
