UFO - Drummer Andy Parker Breaks Ankle; DIO Skinsman Simon Wright Steps In For Upcoming Tour
Legendary UK heavy rockers UFO have issued the following update:
"We are very sorry to announce that last Wednesday Andy Parker broke his ankle by slipping on a wet floor. After two hospital appointments Andy had surgery today and now has a plate and some screws in his ankle. Needless to say, he won't be ready to play the UFO tour in March. We are all very upset about this. After much discussion between Andy and the other band-members the decision was taken to go ahead with the tour and play the March dates with a replacement drummer. Our good friend Simon Wright (DIO, ex-AC/DC) was kind enough to step in immediately - thanks mate! As many of you will know, Simon toured with UFO on the Walk On Water tour (no pun intended!) and we're sure you'll join with us in thanking Simon for keeping the tour on schedule and in wishing Andy a speedy and comfortable recovery. Get well soon, Mr. Parker!"
