BIOGRAPHIE IKON - site officiel :
www.ikondomain.com-------------------------------------------------------------
Described as one of the premier Goth bands, Australia based IKON formed in 1991
from the ashes of Death In The Dark.
Core members Chris McCarter (vocals, guitar) and Dino Molinaro (bass) make a
striking blend of Gothic/Darkwave music, following in the footsteps of Joy
Division and early New Order with a touch of Death In June.
The recent inclusion of long time friend of the band, Anthony Cornish (guitars
live shows), will continue IKONs reputation as Australias biggest Gothic export.
To date, IKON have played extensively in Australia as well as Germany, Belgium,
United Kingdom, Italy, Switzerland, Holland and Denmark alongside bands such as
The Sisters of Mercy, H.I.M., London After Midnight, Soft Cell, Death In June,
The Cruxshadows and the Mission.
A highlight of 2002 was playing at the M'era Luna festival in Hildesheim
Germany, in front of an audience in excess of 15,000 people and the 2003 Wave
Gotik Treffen (the worlds largest Goth Festival) in Leipzig, Germany.
2003 also saw the release of "From Angels To Ashes 1997-2003" a retrospective
which covers the bands singles and oddities from those years.
In 2004, IKON released "Psychic Vampire", their first new material since "On the
edge of forever in 2001". The release is available as an 8 track ep and an
accompaning cd single containing remixes of the title track as well as 3 live
songs.
In 2005 IKON released their first full length release in 4 years 'Destroying The
World To Save It. The release was well received around the world including chart
position No.21 -Best Album 2005 [World DJ Native Charts], and Mick Mercer
(author of the Hex Files, Gothic History) describing the release as Album of The
Year.
IKON also accepted an invitation to play at Wave Gotik Treffen (Germany) in
2005. Playing a second time at one of the worlds largest Goth festivals.
2006 sees IKON returning to the studio to work on their 6th full length CD due
for release in 2007.
IKON are members of the Crash Frequency Collective. Crash Frequncy is a
collective of Industrial/Gothic bands from Australia who share a common goal of
helping promote their music worldwide.
