CHILDREN OF BODOM - Track List Of Deluxe Edition Of Follow The Reaper, Cover Art For Upcoming DVD Revealed



CHILDREN OF BODOM's official fan site http://www.endlesswar.net/SOB/site.php?lang=en Scythes Of Bodom have revealed the track list of the forthcoming deluxe edition of the band's Follow The Reaper album, which will be issued through Nuclear Blast. It is as follows: 'Follow The Reaper', 'Bodom After Midnight', 'Children Of Decadence', 'Everytime I Die', 'Mask Of Sanity', 'Taset Of My Scythe', 'Hate Me!', 'Northern Comfort', 'Kissing The Shadows', 'Hellion' (W.A.S.P. cover), 'Aces High' (IRON MAIDEN cover), 'Everytime I Die' (video clip).

While 'Hellion' is considered a bonus track on this edition it did in fact appear on the original version of Follow The Reaper in certain territories. 'Aces High' was originally released on a tribute album to Iron Maiden.

In other news, the proposed cover art for Children Of Bodom's forthcoming live DVD can be viewed at the link above. A second draft has reportedly been created as well, although the band is opting to go with this simplified version. The DVD will be released October 6th in Europe through Universal.

CHILDREN OF BODOM / NORTHER Side-Project GASHOUSE GARDEN Still Alive


According to the official CHILDREN OF BODOM fan site http://www.endlesswar.net/SOB/site.php?lang=en Scythes Of Bodom, drummer Jaska Raatikainen's side-project GASHOUSE GARDEN is still around even though the band's official website has been offline for some time. Guitarist Kristian Ranta (NORTHER) says Gashouse Garden is on hiatus for the time being due to the members being involved in other things, but they are due to hold rehearsals in the fall. He makes it clear, however, that it is just a project, therefore "nobody should expect anything too serious."

Gashouse Garden also features female vocalist Mertsa (CHINA CAT), bassist Lauri Porra (SINERGY, KOTIPELTO, WARMEN) and guitarist Jaako Teittinen (CRAYDAWN).

Hotly anticipated, the first legitimate COB home video centers around the 95 minute titular Swedish concert, but also offering a slew of extras. A companion, dual CD, featuring the audio portion, can eventually be purchased separately. While the final packaging wasn’t available at time of review, it’s the contents that are really key. A pyro-punctuated set, with flame cannons so popular at European shows, there’s also oil drums and a vintage muscle car onstage (autos play a role in some of their vids too). During a respite, Janne Warman roasts sausage over the flames! Having witnessed about a dozen live COB performances, this captures much of the emotion. The swooping crane, rushing the stage like an overhead stage-diver, adds urgency. The setlist is a little heavy on recent material (of the 16 songs, five come from Hate Crew and four from Are You Dead Yet), but then again, the Bods have only begun to crest. Biggest surprises? Still playing the debut’s ‘Lake Bodom’, to open the encore, at the expense of ‘Better Off Dead’ and EP single ‘Trashed, Lost & Strungout’. Only a Finnish drummer would drink from a beer bottle during his solo, as a shirtless Jaska Raatikainen does, at the conclusion of ‘Angels Don’t Kill’. Apart from his crouched hunch at the front of the stage, Laiho jumps over some monitors, plays his guitar balanced on outstretched knee and engages in spirited interplay with “the old man,” fellow guitarist Roope Latvala, and Warman, he of the vertical keyboards (during ‘Silent Night, Bodom Night’) - Laiho and keyboardist duke it out again prior to the start of ‘In Your Face’. Between tracks, we get Alexi’s profanity-laced raps and a little bit of clowning (the W.A.S.P. analogy is precious). Although early reviewers weren’t privy to the lengthy documentary that will be part of the finished product, regardless, it’s still a must-buy, even for casual fans. Many of the eight, slasher/horror film-inspired promotional videos, dating back to an inexpensive clip for ‘Deadnight Warrior’ off the ’97 debut, have yet to be seen in North America, apart from internet bulletin boards, which tend to lack the quality of the original (although it must be said, Alexi Laiho is a better guitarist than actor/lip sync-er). Early on, he garnered almost all the face time, but over the years (and with stable lineup), the rest of the band have gotten involved. The photo gallery is legit, with fan/band-shot candid photos from around the globe, not simply re-prints from the live set. The band is scheduled to return this Fall, for yet another headlining tour, in support of Are You Dead Yet and the DVD, which hits stores on October 10th.
