| IRON MAIDEN's Bruce Dickinson Signs 10-Foot Les Paul For Gibson GuitarTown London According to ModernGuitars.com, Bruce Dickinson, lead singer of the legendary British rock band IRON MAIDEN took time out to sign his 10-foot hand-painted Gibson Les Paul on site at the Gibson GuitarTown London charity exhibition. | IRON MAIDEN Frontman Bruce Dickinson's Movie Chemical Wedding "Well Underway" According to an IRON MAIDEN update, filming of the supernatural horror thriller Chemical Wedding is well underway. Based on an original screenplay by (singer) Bruce Dickinson, the film directed by Julian Doyle, veteran second unit director and editor of Terry Gilliam's Brazil, Time Bandits and Monty Python's The Life of Brian. Julian wrote and directed Maiden's partially animated promotional video 'Can I Play With Madness'. Chemical Wedding stars Simon Callow as a reincarnation of Aleister Crowley, dubbed 'the most evil man in Britain.'
Crowley was a major Edwardian figure and a scandalous character. A Cambridge graduate, he became an infamous mystic and occult scholar and although he died in 1947, his books are still in print and he remains a major focus for the occult world. In the film, Crowley's spirit is re-animated by a superconductor mainframe, transforming the shy and stuttering Professor Haddo (Callow) into the charismatic but sexually depraved Crowley who wreaks havoc with the students and faculty of today's Cambridge campus. The cast will be rounded out with cameos from Dickinson and other Python regulars. The film should be released sometime in 2008 with Bruce supervising the soundtrack.

| IRON MAIDEN Singer Bruce Dickinson - "The Fans Are Attracted To Us Because We Are Still An Active Musical Force"Jason Nahrung from Australia's The Courier Mail spoke to IRON MAIDEN vocal legend Bruce Dickinson recently about a number of topics including the much-anticipated Somewhere Back In Time tour. Here are a few excerpts from the chat: Dickinson says next year's tour – the band's fourth visit to Australia, and first since 1992 – should satisfy decades of badgering from fans wanting to hear Maiden's hits live Down Under, but doesn't seek to replicate the Powerslave tour's past glory. "We're not trying to rewrite the tour. It won't be Live After Death word for word. I won't be wearing my jocks on the outside of my Spandex. We'll be re-creating the cool bits, but the main thing is the music. We don't want to look like our own version of an Iron Maiden cover band." The tour focuses on Maiden's peak years in the 1980s, when Beast, Piece Of Mind and Powerslave helped push it to the top of the metal ladder, further bolstered by hits from Somewhere in Time (1986) and Seventh Son of a Seventh Son (1988). Maiden has remained an inspiration to bands and has enjoyed a resurgence of support in recent years thanks to solid studio albums and live performances. Says Dickinson of the band's enduring popularity: "Maiden is a unique band. You could say we're one of the last of the originals. If anything, the fan base has regenerated. There's a whole new generation – two new generations – of kids turning up. We played Sweden and filled 50,000-seat soccer stadiums. We never filled a soccer stadium in the mid '80s. You look now and the first 50 rows are 16-year-olds. On our last tour we were able to play a new album (the 80-minute A Matter Of Life And Death) in its entirety, and still sell out a worldwide tour of arenas. The fans are attracted to us because we are still an active musical force." Read more here. | |

| Report: IRON MAIDEN Rockers' World Cyber Flight www.Telegraph.co.uk has issued the following report from Megan Levy and agencies: IRON MAIDEN frontman BRUCE DICKINSON is about to embark on a gruelling world tour - without stepping foot out of Britain. The heavy metal rock star is joining a group of flight simulator enthusiasts for a marathon "cyber flight" around the world to raise money for charity. For seven days Dickinson, who holds a pilot's licence, will sit on board a home-made flight simulator in a Surrey garage. He will be part of a 17-strong British flight team on a virtual round-the-globe adventure called Simfest. Departing from a virtual Sydney International Airport in Australia on Sunday, November 4th, the journey will take the team seven days and seven nights. Simfest is part of World-Flight, an annual event in which teams from around the world use home-built flight simulators to fly around the world and raise money for a chosen charity. This year the British cyber pilot team is supporting Cancer Research UK. Gary Oliver and Mark Hastings, who are master-minding the British effort, custom-built their own Boeing 777 flight simulator in Gary's garage. They hope to raise £5,000 for the charity.
