Legendary Drummer Carmine Appice Appearing At Creative EJ In Charlotte, NC

According to Business Wire, Carmine Appice will be conducting a workshop for drummers of all ages and skill levels at the Creative Ej School of Music on Tuesday, May 1st at 7pm. Creative Ej is located in the Northlake Mall area between Charlotte and Huntersville. Tickets are $10 in advance. Appice’s appearance will feature a live band with local talent including bassist, Karl Gunther.

As drummer for VANILLA FUDGE, Carmine Appice set the groundwork for the band’s 1967 psychedelic premier. Their debut album stands today as a hard rock classic. Vanilla Fudge went on to tour with JIMI HENDRIX, CREAM, and even had LED ZEPPELIN as an opening act. Following Vanilla Fudge, Appice formed CACTUS, then the first supergroup - BECK, BOGERT & APPICE (BBA) with guitarist JEFF BECK.

One of the premier showmen in rock, Appice became known worldwide for his astonishing live performances, playing with some of the biggest rock musicians in the world, including TED NUGENT, STANLEY CLARKE, OZZY OSBOURNE, BRIAN MAY of QUEEN, and PINK FLOYD. In ’76, he joined ROD STEWART’s band, touring, recording and co-writing two of Stewart’s biggest hits, 'Do Ya Think I’m Sexy' and 'Young Turks'. In the ‘80s, he formed KING KOBRA for two Capitol albums and international touring, and BLUE MURDER with members of WHITESNAKE and THE FIRM. In the ‘90s, he was the drummer for THE EDGAR WINTER GROUP and recently toured and recorded with Pat Travers.

As an educator, Carmine was the first to legitimize rock drumming with his landmark book, The Realistic Rock Drum Method, selling over 350,000 copies (now in DVD format). He was the first rock drummer to conduct instructional clinics and seminars around the world. Los Angeles was one of four cities that have had Carmine Appice Day. In 1991, he was immortalized via his induction to the Hollywood’s Rock Walk (next to his idols, Gene Krupa and Buddy Rich). Carmine also earned lifetime achievement awards – from the Los Angeles Music Awards and Sabian Cymbals, and Modern Drummer’s Editor’s Achievement Award.
