HELLYEAH – Drummer Vinnie Paul Talks Live Set-List

HELLYEAH, featuring Vinnie Paul and members of MUDVAYNE and NOTHINGFACE are currently in rehearsals for the band’s upcoming solo club tour dates and Family Values jaunt. But don’t look to hear your favourite PANTERA songs any time soon…

Says Vinnie, “You know, the reason Dime and I did Pantera songs with DAMAGEPLAN, is a) we knew the fans wanted to hear them and b) we loved playing them and missed playing them, and c) we wrote the fucking songs, and we had the right to play them. And with this band, you know, I think that would just be pushing it a little too far, to try do that. We really want to stand on our own two feet and be fucking Hellyeah, so that’s what we’re going to do. A couple of classic rock tunes, and you know, maybe some PRIEST or something like that. Really, there’s 12 songs on the record and we plan on playing every one of them in a headline situation. And obviously, with the Family Values thing we’re only going to get 30 or 40 minutes, but we’re going to make the world hear and understand and hopefully appreciate Hellyeah.”

So you’re working up some covers?

“Oh yeah, we’ve had some fun with some shit (laughs). A little bit of this and a little bit of that. Nothing to really elaborate on. But when we’re in the studio we kicked the some old METALLICA and stuff like that. We start rehearsals this week, so I’m looking forward to getting in there and once we feel we have our songs down pat, we’re definitely going to dig into a small cover catalogue, just to have.”
