LIQUID TENSION EXPERIMENT To Reform And Headline NEARfest X






BW&BK has received the following press release regarding the reformation of the LIQUID TENSION EXPERIMENT - the band featuring DREAM THEATER's Mike Portnoy (drums), Mike Portnoy (guitar) and Jordan Rudess (keyboards) alongside bass legend Tony Levin (KING CRIMSON, PETER GABRIEL):

"We are very pleased to announce the Saturday night headliner for NEARfest X - Liquid Tension Experiment! The supergroup consisting of Mike Portnoy, John Petrucci, Jordan Rudess and Tony Levin are reconvening and preparing to tear the roof off of Zoellner Arts Center next June. Portnoy and Petrucci are founding members of progressive metal's five-headed monster, Dream Theater, and have won accolades from fans and critics alike for their prowess on the drum kit and guitar, respectively. Rudess is was previously known for his blazing keyboard work with the DIXIE DREGS and the RUDESS/MORGENSTEIN PROJECT and joined Dream Theater officially after the second Liquid Tension Experiment album sessions. Tony Levin needs no introduction - Stick and bass maestro, two-time NEARfest alum, and played with everyone from King Crimson to Peter Gabriel to YES to SARAH MCLACHLAN. Liquid Tension Experiment's two studio albums, Liquid Tension Experiment (1998) and Liquid Tension Experiment 2 (1999), are filled to the brim with everything from blazing, chops-laden sonic attacks ('Paradigm Shift') to melodic anthems ('When The Water Breaks') to humorous jams ('Chris And Kevin's Excellent Adventure'). The improvisational nature in the writing sessions permitted the band to stretch out to many different influences, including rock, metal, prog, funk, blues and even ragtime. It is a great honor to host this ensemble of legendary, virtuoso players on the NEARfest stage for our 10th anniversary."

NEARfest will be held June 21st and 22nd, 2008 at the Zoellner Arts Center, Bethlehem, PA.

En octobre 1998, Liquid Tension Experiment s'est réuni une seconde fois aux studios Millbrook pour enregistrer leur second album. Seulement quelques jours plus tard, la femme de John Petrucci accouche avec de l'avance, laissant Mike Portnoy, Jordan Rudess et Tony Levin dans un studio déjà installé et réservé. Et que font des musiciens aussi créatifs et productifs dans de telles conditions ? Ils jamment !
Pour des raisons inexpliquées, les enregistrements originaux se sont égarés lors du mixage. Heureusement que Mike Portnoy enregistre tout ce qu'il fait sur son DAT 2 pistes, en faisant l'unique source de ce jam historique. C'est donc une version live et brute, sans overdubs ni mixage, qui laisse s'exprimer toute la spontanéité de l'imagination de ces trois musiciens.

Les jams inédits enregistrés lors des sessions de LTE2 sortiront le 23 octobre en Europe et aux États-Unis. Une édition limitée digipack impression métallique est prévue. Le livret sera rédigé par Mike Portnoy.
