| PERSUADER With a critically acclaimed debut album such as "The Hunter", and a hard hitting sophomore in "Evolution Purgatory", it is hard to understand why these young Swedes aren’t more known than they are. So what’s the story behind the Swedish based band PERSUADER ? PERSUADER formed in the midst of a hardcore explosion in Umeå/Sweden in 1997. Although their brand of music was not at all as popular as it is nowadays they had a vision of how metal should be played. The demo "Visions And Dreams" was recorded in ‘98 with great reviews in different magazines. One of these was read by a LoudnProud label man, who subsequently contacted the band and signed them. The debut full-length "The Hunter" was recorded in ‘99 and the band saw their chance to reach their audience in a way they earlier had only dreamt about. However, this dream was shattered when the label was dissolved. After a while the message came, the label had gone into bankruptcy and their debut album only saw the light of day in France, where it was released on license to NTS. Following this devastating blow to the band guitarist Pekka Kiviaho left following personal and musical differences. The future looked bleak for the remaining three guys and whether or not to continue the band was contemplated. Late in 2000 Jens contacted guitarist Emil Norberg, who he knew from high school, and asked if he wanted to join the band. Emil was delighted to hear this and PERSUADER was once again a full line-up. New songwriting sessions and rehearsals began and a three song demo was recorded. Before sending any of these demos out Jens read about the Young Metal Gods competition which was sponsored by the international label Noise. A demo was sent in at the last moment and to make a long story short, it blew everybody away. After seven European magazines had voted, and a live show in Bochum/Germany, PERSUADER stood as the winners, with a deal with Noise and a recording session at Piet Sielck’s Powerhouse studio. In the fall of 2003 PERSUADER headed down to record their sophomore album in Hamburg with 9 new songs. The album "Evolution Purgatory" was released in February 2004 was very well received by the press. Still, this wasn’t the break PERSUADER was hoping for and again they saw themselves being heralded by the underground, while sales figures didn’t speak the same language. Following the release of this album, PERSUADER were dropped by Noise and signed a deal with Dockyard 1, the new label formed by old Noise employees Dirk Putzke, Christine Stephan and Iron Savior frontman Piet Sielck. PERSUADER is now preparing for the recording of their third album which is tentivly entitled "When Eden Burns". The band describes it as the perfect Persuader album. "We’ve taken the best from our two previous albums and twisted in a lot of new influences. We have no doubt that this will be our best album so far ... but that’s what everybody says so check it out for yourself in January and judge for yourself" guitarist Emil comments. Also, after 5 years of being locked away in a dark cell, their debut album "The Hunter" will see the light of day with an international re-release on Dockyard 1. Mark the 19th of September in your notebooks, e-books, i-PODs or whatever, and be sure to get your copy of this highly anticipated debut album from PERSUADER. And rest assured, PERSUADER is stronger than ever, and with 2006 they will make the earth shatter...
