JAMES MURPHY, JEFF LOOMIS To Guest On NEVERMORE Frontman WARREL DANE's Solo AlbumNEVERMORE frontman Warrel Dane has started recording his solo album with ex-
SOILWORK guitarist-turned-producer
Peter Wichers. A studio update reads as follows:
"Worked on vocals for two songs tonight,
'Obey' and
'Messenger'. Damn it's so great in the studio if you just cut loose and can have fun because you love the people you're working with and you're all having a great time, I left the studio so fucking happy with what we did tonight, you can't say that often in this biz, look out for guest solos from James Murphy and Jeff Loomis."
About the album, Wichers told BW&BK in September that Dane "does some really different stuff. He’s actually a baritone, for example, which is kind of funny when you think about how he sings on a
Nevermore record, but he can’t use that voice in Nevermore because you wouldn’t be able to hear him. He’s doing all kinds of different vocal things on this. And there are a couple songs where he’s singing really low. Everything is shaped so that Warrel is in focus at all times. I think people are going to love the record because Warrel is getting all the space he needs. There’s one song where there’s one clean guitar in the middle, but that’s it. He fills everything else up with different harmonies and stuff like that. It’s very different from anything he’s done before.”
