Century Media Europe To Release New WOLF Album On September 25th;
WOLF T49336dg1

Sweden's WOLF will be releasing their forthcoming album, The Black Flame on September 25th via Century Media Europe. A video for the song 'I Will Kill Again' will be recorded at the end off August. The band has teamed up with longtime friend and NOCTURNAL RITES drummer Owe Lingwall to shoot the song. A source close to the band says: "And yes....there will be blood!"

The band recently comments on the sound off The Black Flame: "Think old-school metal without being old-fashioned. It's heavy as hell and will hit you like a ton off bricks. It has a horror-vibe to it that won't let you be, and it could be a soundtrack to old eighties horror-movies. Oh yes, it contains a lot off heavy metal too...A LOT!"

WOLF - North American Release For The Black Flame Confirmed
WOLF 49766fd5

Swedish traditional metal act WOLF will see the North American release of the band’s fourth album, The Black Flame, on October 3 through Prosthetic Records. The band’s previous record, Evil Star, along with its back catalog, was also licensed for North American release through Prosthetic in early 2004. The Black Flames will feature the following

tracklisting:
'I Will Kill Again',
'At The Graveyard',
'Black Magic',
'The Bite',
'Make Friends With Your Nightmares',
'Demon',
'The Dead',
'Seize The Night',
'Steelwinged Savage Reaper',
'Children of the Black Flame'.

The band also offers an update on preparation for the debut music video from The Black Flame, for the album’s opening song 'I Will Kill Again', via the official Wolf website:

“Hi, all. We're at the house (haunted of course) in the town off Umeå in Sweden recording the video for the song ‘I Will Kill Again’ from the upcoming album. Director Owe R Kill Lingwall (NOCTURNAL RITES) is doing his very best to make us look evil (that means he's doing nothing, cause we're already evil). Tormentor [bassist Mikael Goding] is happy cause Westham kicked Charlton’s arse. Axeman [guitarist Johannes Losbäck] is happy cause he likes metal. Hammershark [drummer Tobias Kellgren] is happy cause he's getting paid tomorrow and Viper [vocalist/guitarist Niklas Stållvind] is not happy cause he's being tortured by the Killer. And yes...CELTIC FROST rules.”

WOLF: "The Wolf Is Loose"

Swedish metal traditionalists WOLF have issued the following update:

"Hi all!

Thanx for the great words and support we've gotten from all off you out there regarding The Black Flame. We put a great deal of work behind this album and it's good to see it's paying off.

In further news; we are very honored and pleased to be a part off the Sweden Rock fest kick-off party in December, and are looking forward to drinking HARDCORE SUPERSTAR under the table.

Those of you who came to the Gothenburg old school heavy metal assault managed to get a glimpse off 'The Reaper'. We are very satisfied that we're on his "not their time just yet" list.

Also we would like to thank Johan, aka “The Drill”, for stepping in on the bass guitar on such short notice since Tormentor was on the road in jolly ol' England.

On October 21st we're playing at Club Aska in Örebro, Sweden and then on November 4th we're off to KIT fest in Germany. Hope to see you all front row, bangers. And remember: The Wolf is loose and was last seen heading your way."

WOLF - "What Happened In 06(66)????"

Sweden's WOLF have issued the following update:

"We've had a great year. We started it by waking up early 2006 with a hangover and a new record-deal. We spent the beginning of the year writing the songs for the album, which means fighting about riffs, lyrics, intros, titles, solos, kick-drums, if a heavy metal band have hand cream in the rehearsal place, if the guitars are to loud, etc...aaah...good times :-) We took a break in April to do the Metal & Hardcore fest in New England, USA, which was great!!! Meeting up with 'ol friends in bands and making new ones while playing metal and watching Mikael get thrown out off the pub is all a metal-child needs. During summer, we locked ourselves in the Fredman studio recording The Black Flame. It was great to work with Fredrik and Power-Pat and of course, the result was to our (and many off you) liking!!! A video was shoot in Umeå during two day's where we drenched Viper in blood and laughed when he got tortured. The rest of the summer was spent doing what we do best: listening to SAXON and party!!!

WOLF - UK To Receive "Exclusive Version" Of The Black Flame

Century Media has issued the following in regards to Swedish metallers WOLF:

Finally the time has come for the UK to be blasted by the new album, of what can only be described as the purest heavy metal from Sweden's Wolf, The Black Flame is due to be released in the UK on Monday, February 19th.

The band have put together some special material for the UK edition of the album which will include recent live footage and the "never to be seen" on TV version of the video 'I Will Kill Again' (the really bloody gory version), if you are of a slightly nervous disposition then you can check out the 'nice' one here at the band's official Century Media Artist page here.

The Black Flame was recorded at Studio Fredman with producer Fredrik Nordström (DREAM EVIL, HAMMERFALL, IN FLAMES) and is the follow-up to 2004's Evil Star. This will be the first album to feature new drummer Tobias R. Kellgren and long-time session/live guitarist Johannes Losbäck alongside founding members Niklas Stålvind (vocals, lead guitar) and Mikael Goding (bass).

With cover artwork by legendary artist Thomas Holm (MERCYFUL FATE, KING DIAMOND, Wolf's Black Wings).

Wolf comment, "You can all expect a cover that matches the eerie sound of the new album 100%. No swords and dragons and shit. Just pure metal terror. Think old-school metal without being old-fashioned. It's heavy as hell and will hit you like a ton of bricks. It has a horror vibe to it that won't let you be, and it could be a soundtrack to old Eighties horror movies. Oh yes, it contains a lot of heavy metal too... A LOT!"

The Black Flame UK tracklisting:
'I Will Kill Again',
'At The Graveyard',
'Black Magic',
'The Bite',
'Make Friends With Your Nightmares',
'Demon',
'The Dead',
'Seize The Night',
'Steelwinged Savage Reaper',
'Children Of The Black Flame'.

Plus UK only bonus material:

- Live video footage from the Keep It True Festival, November 4th, 2006 in Lauda-Königshofen, Tauberfrankenhalle, Germany.
- 'The Bite' - from the album The Black Flame.
- 'Genocide' - from the album Black Wings.
- 'I Will Kill Again' (long splatter version).
- Promo video directed by Owe Lingvall for Village Road Film.

In other Wolf news, we are pleased to announce that the band have already been confirmed for a headlining slot at Germany's Headbanger's Open Air festivals and will be supporting CELTIC FROST and KREATOR on their Scandinavian shows.

UK shows to be confirmed very soon.

WOLF - London Date With TURISAS Cancelled

Sweden's WOLF have issued the following update:

"The proposed show at London's Scala on 8th March, with Wolf, has had to be postponed – the band have issued the following statement to explain the postponement...

"Turisas are sorry to announce that due to unforeseen changes to the recording schedule for the new album, due out in May, the band have been forced to postpone their live date at the Scala, Kings Cross, London on Thursday 8th March. The gig will however be re-scheduled for a later date at the same venue. Turisas would like to extend sincere apologies to all disappointed fans and ticketholders."

Century Media are currently looking at other options for Wolf to play the UK and will confirm as soon as we can."

Wolf's latest release, The Black Flame, will be released on vinyl. The Swedish underground label, Black Cave Records, with licence from Century Media, will put out a limited edition of 500 copies available through Black Cave mailorder. The limited edition will be signed and numbered by the band. No release date is set at the moment, but will be announced shortly.

Wolf comment about the vinyl release: "There was never a doubt about releasing The Black Flame as a vinyl record, though we've been getting alot of questions regarding the matter, we just wanted to wait for the right time to do it and we feel that we've reached that point now. Vinyl records are very important for us and our fans and it is an important element of the heavy metal community. It's just like denim and leather - we're naked without it."

WOLF Part Ways With Bassist

After their upcoming Headbangers Open Air appearance on June 13th/14th, in Brande-Hörnerkirchen, Germany, Swedish power thrashers WOLF will be parting ways with bassist Mikael Goding. His statement is as follows:

"To put it simple: to much business and mini van, and less music. The reason we started the band was that we wanted to create great new wave of British heavy metal. And we certainly have! The thing that I always have enjoyed most with Wolf is to see a song grow during rehearsals. Thinking: man! this is a really good song, and we have done it together. Now with Tobias (Kellgren - drums) and Johannes (Losbäck - guitar) living on the west coast, we hardly rehearse at all and that sucks! Unfortunately, releasing an album isn't just about music, there is a lot of business involved, and I hate that shit! Playing a gig is a lot more than the gig, and I hate that shit to! Last gig (BYH) we played 40 minutes and we were away for 50 hours, and we didn’t get any money at all. The worst part with leaving Wolf is how much I'll miss the fans. Even if there aren’t legions of them, there is still some who are really dedicated. Like Joxe who comes to almost every show we play in Europe. So thank you all who have bought the record and all who have been at gigs for the past '12 waysted years.'"

WOLF Issue 2007 Wrap-Up - "We Don't Need Power, We're A HEAVY Metal Band"

WOLF T80073 Sweden's WOLF have issued the following 2007 year-end update:

"Where's the power gone? Thanx 2007!

We wanna thank each and every one of you that picked up our album, came to the shows, got yourself a t-shirt, said 'hi' and gave us beer, hanged out, played with us or simply just supported heavy metal for a great 2007. We WILL make some noise in 2008, be sure of that!

Here's the list to sum it all up:

Best on stage move: Anders Tornado's striptease at Bloodstock Festival (thank God (?) for YouTube)

Most stupid: Johannes Axeman when talking to Vinnie Appice and taking pictures with him at Bang Your Head Fest and not remembering any of it… Damn that free beer…

Most crazy stories told: Breakfast with GRIM REAPER at the hotel… Funny 'shit'.

Worst catering: Two bags of crisps and a bottle of water…for 2 bands somewhere in the UK.

Best onstage comment: Niklas Viper going, 'Someone told us that we're too metal for our own good. We say, you can NEVER be too metal for your own good!'

2nd runner up: Johannes Axeman at Bloodstock said, 'Where's the power gone? Hell, we don't need power, we're a HEAVY metal band.'

3rd runner up: Tobias Hammershark said, 'It's a lose/lose situation.'

The 'what the hell' moment: Spotting the HUGE signing queue at Bloodstock Fest. Good fun. Thanx to all of you.

Most prepared: All of us on the tour bus watching Braveheart before the gigs in Scotland.

Most rocking moment: The show at Sweden Rock Fest - 60 minutes of New Wave of Swedish / British Heavy Metal…in Sweden…

Tallest: Jensen of THE HAUNTED.

Longest wait: 9 hours at Heathrow to catch the flight home after The Cursed Earth tour.

Funniest: Setting our bass player's arse on fire at Bang Your Head Fest.

Coolest chicks: GIRLSCHOOL. Hell, they rock!

Worst moment: Having to cancel Hard Rock Hell Fest after putting down hours of work to make it happen. Damn canceling!

Coolest fan: Joxxe."

WOLF - "Writing For New Album Well On The Way"

Swedish thrashers WOLF have issued the following update:

"Writing for the new album is well on the way and we’re wrapping up the final things for a summer recording. We’ll give you more details as things move along.

On February 22-24, we’ll be recording a cover tune in Toyas Studio Seven Sweden/Örebro for a special release by Century Media records and the song we’ve taken on might not be the most obvious choice for a workingclass heavy metal band like Wolf, but rest assured, we're very excited and very proud to get a chance to record this song. Which one it is – we cannot reveal at the time, but we will do so soon.

As many off you’ve seen when watching us onstage lately is that Tobias “Hammershark” Kellgren is not with us anymore. It was a mutual decision taken way back in august that Hammershark was to leave due to lack of time to tour and personal issues, and we can’t let that hold us back. But as you might have noticed, we haven’t exactly been sitting around doing nothing. Nop, we’ve borrowed IN SOLITUDE drummer Uno “Piranha” Bruniosson as live/session drummer for shows and upcoming February recording. We will wait with announcing a permanent drummer so we’re not making any speedy decisions to jeopardize Wolf's or Uno’s future carriers. We’re hard at work, harder than ever, and we goddamn love it! The wolf is loose and was last seen heading your way."

Watch Uno performing 'I Will Kill Again' below:
