| Photographer Ross Halfin - "The Film Is Amazing, You End Up Loving ANVIL" Photographer legend Ross Halfin ( LED ZEPPELIN, IRON MAIDEN, AC/DC) has issued the following update: "Sasha Gervasi invited me to a screening of his movie about ANVIL titled (this may change) The Anvil Story. It was at the CAA agent's offices. Rather posh, minimalist white with rubbish art on the walls - reminded me of Nobu in London. Lips and Rob Reiner were both there, I haven't seen them in nearly twenty years. The film is amazing, you end up loving Anvil. Steven (Lips) gave a heartfelt speech at the end of the movie. I took Boh Runga along. She had never heard of Anvil - she thought Lips was the most genuine and open person she'd ever met. As we arrived back at my hotel, I saw a figure trying to stagger in. It's Steve Strange giving Paul Brannigan a run for his money. I ask Steve if he remembers Anvil. Steve looks up and in the entrance to the hotel starts shouting 'Metal On Metal is what I crave!' while playing air guitar. Paul Brannigan would have been proud. This is a sign - looking forward to shooting Anvil today." The True Story Of Anvil will premier at the world famous Sundance Film Festival, drummer Robb Reiner has informed BW&BK. The film - directed by Sacha Gervasi, who wrote the Steven Spielberg movie, The Terminal - will debut on the popular Premieres section of the 2008 Festival which is held in Utah January 17th-27th. Sacha Gervasi is an old friend of the band's that used to do some roadie work for them back in the 1980's. He has filmed some of their shows from their November 2005 and June 2006 European tours. He also filmed Lips 50th birthday show at Heads Or Tails in Etobicoke, Ontario, Canada on February 25, 2006. As well he filmed some of the recording of the band's latest album This Is Thirteen - produced by the legendary Chris Tsangarides ( JUDAS PRIEST, THIN LIZZY). Sacha also interviewed many people from Anvil's past and present, including former band members. | |
