SEVERED FEW - Centralia Heavy-Metal Group Wins Battle Of The Bands.... Without A Singer Kevin Westrick has issued the following report for The Chronicle:
Singer wanted: Must have a voice with vocal range, a passion for in-your-face, heavy-metal music and love the TV show “Heroes.” Qualified singer must be able to “deliver the message.”
That’s what heavy-metal band
SEVERED FEW is looking for in a singer, but the band isn’t in a rush to find someone. After all, guitarist Rob Potvin, bass player Adam Justice and drummer Aaron Snideman beat out nine other bands in the “Battle Of The Bands” competition on September 30th without a singer.
The only band in the Seattle competition without a singer was Severed Few, but it didn’t matter because the Centralia-based trio rocked the audience at Studio 7 into a frenzy, proven by the fact the final judging was based on fan noise and applause. Severed Few was the headliner of “Battle Of The Bands” because they sold all 100 tickets allotted to them.
No other band sold more than 70 tickets.
“He (the lead singer) has to stick around and be my friend. He needs to be my best friend before he is a bandmate,” said Potvin about finding a singer.
Severed Few’s music is hard-core, heavy-metal guitar riffs, incorporated with the feel-good of classic rock, the sway of southern rock, thrown in with a blues’ scale and a hard-core groove. Potvin’s head-banging, hair-flying style coupled with his fingers-of-fury guitar playing ability help make a Severed Few concert a high-energy, fun-filled event.
During a Severed Few show, Potvin periodically steps up to the mic and screams at the crowd to fire it up or to be louder. Justice hammers on the bass in a steady, yet classic pose like some rock legends and Snideman beats the drums like a UFC fighter pounding on his opponent.
The chant of
“Severed Few, Severed Few” is heard at nearly all their performances, something that drives the band to play even harder.
