SKID ROW Bassist
RACHEL BOLAN - "Is It Our Time Again? It Should Be"
Metal-Exiles.com recently hooked up with
SKID ROW bassist
Rachel Bolan to dicuss the band's new album, Revolutions Per Minute. The following is a brief excerpt:
Metal Exiles: What went into putting this album together?
Rachel: "We just threw convention aside and just wrote the record that we wanted to write, whatever comes out comes out. For some reason it worked and we have gotten an unbelievable response. The only thing that we planned on was not doing any ballads. We are well known for our ballads, we have enough."
Metal Exiles: Do you think it is Skid Row's time again?
Rachel: "You know what, why not? We are really proud of this record and we are going on a national tour with NASHVILLE PUSSY and KING'S X. It feels right and everything is falling into place along with getting some of the best reviews since Slave To The Grind, and in some places we are getting better reviews. It is also doing well at rock radio so is it our time again? It should be."
Metal Exiles: Do you think the fans are over the fact that you have a different singer?
Rachel: "I think so and at the time he has been in the band longer than Sebastian was, he is going on his seventh year with us. There will be haters out there that cannot deal with change so be it. It is so funny, he has been in the band for seven years and people still consider him the new singer."
Metal Exiles: This record is a lot different than Thick Skin, did you set out to make this sound again or did it just come out?
Rachel: "We knew we had do another record with Michael Wagener, which was great as it seemed as no time had passed since ‘91. We just set out to do a rock record with Michael and he knew this band better than anybody and it has paid off. A lot of people have told me that a lot of this material reminds them of stuff from the Slave or the first record without sounding dated."
