The forthcoming album, entitled Everything Is Never Over, will be released the first week of July, 2008 and available via www.cdbaby.com/tenthplanet, Itunes, and their myspace site. The making of the album was an international affair, recorded during sessions in both Toronto (Orange Lounge Studios and The Pocket Studios) and West Cork, Ireland (Kingdom Recording Studio). Jeff Martin, former singer and guitarist for The Tea Party, and producer of the band's 2005 EP The Prophet Curse, once again takes on production duties, as well as co-writing the song “Line In The Sand”. Also getting production credit on the album is multi-platinum selling guitarist, and founding member of Our Lady Peace , Mike Turner. The album was mixed by Mike “Dullboy” Langford (Evans Blue) at The Pocket Studios, and mastering was done by Peter Letros of Wreckhouse Mastering (Finger Eleven, Nelly Furtado). Artwork was done by Marco Holtappel of Stargazer Design (The Tea Party, Jeff Martin). Karla Ash of England's “Alternative Rock Review” recently categorized the band by stating, “Tenth Planet revolves around the same black hole sun that Alice in Chains did but with the anthemic punch of U2 at their most rocking.” The band's last album, “The Prophet Curse”, was critically acclaimed, including praise from one of the world's biggest Hard Rock Magazines, Kerrang!: "It's clear that there are minds as well as hearts at work here. It's clever, shadowy rock... colossal." (Steve Beebee) The band have toured Europe twice (September 2006 and 2007), including dates in England, Holland, Belgium, and Germany. One highlight being playing for 12,000 at The Breda Barst Festival, in Breda, Holland. What makes the whole thing even more unbelievable is the fact that the band still have no record deal and label support in Europe. Yet they are able to make these tours successful due to overwhelming demand via international online CD sales and digital downloads such as Itunes. In 2007 the band was hand selected by Black Sabbath guitarist and founding member Tony Iommi as one of the finalists for his international Planet Rock Search band competition, the only North American band to be selected! In conjunction with the new album's release, the band have just announced a CD Release show for Friday, August 8, at Toronto's Legendary Horseshoe Tavern. More tour dates forthcoming! | |
