Pictured on the left (click to enlarge) is the cover art for Folklore And Superstition, which will be released on August 19th via Roadrunner Records.

As previously reported, the Kentucky natives named their sophomore effort after a distinct tradition from their native region: folklore, story telling and superstitions.

“There is a mystique with folklore and superstition,” says drummer John Fred Young. “We’re intrigued by and interested in history, roots and heritage, and we incorporate that into the band.”

Bassist Jon Lawhon concurs, “We are taking the Southern tradition and spreading it out to the rest of the world. They say, ‘Write what you know,’ so that’s what we’re doing, writing what we know.”

The band recorded the album at Black Bird Studios, which is owned and operated by country artist MARTINA McBRIDE, in Nashville, Tennessee. It was produced and mixed by veteran rock producer Bob Marlette (OZZY OSBOURNE, SALIVA, SEETHER, SHINEDOWN).

Edmonton, Kentucky rockers BLACK STONE CHERRY shot a video for their new single, "Blind Man", this past Thursday, July 10 in Louisville, KY at the famous Waverly Hills Sanatorium. "It was so bad-ass!" the band writes on its MySpace page. "We've always wanted to go to Waverly Hills because of its history (and because we wanted to find a ghost there... it's one of the top three haunted places in America!). So to shoot a video inside was very honoring and we thank everyone at Waverly and everyone who had someting to do with the making of this video! It's going to blow your mind when it comes out... so watch for it soon!"

"Blind Man" is the first single off BLACK STONE CHERRY's second Roadrunner album, "Folklore and Superstition", which is scheduled for release on August 19. The CD was recorded in Nashville, Tennessee at Black Bird Studios, which is owned and operated by country music star Martina McBride. It was produced and mixed by veteran Bob Marlette (OZZY OSBOURNE, SALIVA). "Blind Man" can be previewed on BLACK STONE CHERRY's MySpace page.

Lawhon is joined in the band by vocalist/guitarist Chris Robertson, guitarist/vocalist Ben Wells and drummer John Fred Young, whose father and uncles are founding members of the Grammy Award-winning country band THE KENTUCKY HEADHUNTERS.

Former MEGADETH bassist David Ellefson, who currently works for Peavey Electronics (manufacturer of musical equipment, gear and accessories) as an artist relations representative, conducted an interview with BLACK STONE CHERRY in Nashville, Tennessee during the making of "Folklore and Superstition". BLACK STONE CHERRY To Give Special Performance To Newark Performing Arts High School

BLACK STONE CHERRY is set to give a special concert performance with the acclaimed student choir from Newark Performing Arts High School on Tuesday, July 22nd at 7PM in New York City. The concert will take place at the Highline Ballroom in the city’s trendy meatpacking district. The choir, who has performed for the Governor of New Jersey and the Mayor of Newark, will take the stage with the band to perform their new heartfelt song 'Peace Is Free', an anthemic rocker with a timely message of hope and positivity. This performance will mark the first time the Performing Arts High School choir has participated in a rock concert. Black Stone Cherry’s sophomore album Folklore and Superstition will be released on Roadrunner Records on August 19th.

In a recent update, the band state: "We've got some cool things coming up the week of the new album's release!!

First, the night before the album hits the shelves we'll be on the nationally syndicated radio show, Rockline from 10:30 PM - Midnight!! This is on August 18th

On the 19th (release day), we'll be at the Glasgow, KY Wal-Mart at 6 PM doing a few acoustic songs and a big signing of the new album!

On the 20th, we'll be in Bowling Green, KY at the F.Y.E store inside the Greenwood Mall at 6 PM also doing a couple acoustic songs and a signing for the new record!

BLACK STONE CHERRY Comment On "European/UK Invasion"

BLACK STONE CHERRY have issued the following:

"So we're at home right now in beautiful Kentucky. We've been home for a couple weeks and it's been an EXCELLENT stay, but we're all itching to get back out on the road! We leave in 4 days to fly overseas to start our big headlining tour - the Folklore And Superstition tour! We're so excited!

The tour kicks off in Paris, France on November 18th and will end in Belfast, N. Ireland on December 17th! Kentucky-based southern rockers BLACK STONE CHERRY have issued the following update:

"Good afternoon brothers and sisters!

We just got back from sunny Anaheim, CA where we attended the NAMM show! We had a great time, saw lots of familiar faces and made lots of new friends! Now we're back in good ole Kentucky, where the weather is a little cooler! HA!

We're gearing up for the upcoming tour ahead of us, which by the way, will be the first US headline tour of 2009! We're hittin' some awesome places on this tour (pretty much covering Texas, starting in Dallas!) Some places we haven't been to since this past summer, like Madison, WI and even New Orleans where we shot our album photos!!

The kickoff date is January 29th in Dallas, TX and we are so excited to bring you a new show that's gonna rock your ass, and of course, hang out with all of you after each concert!!
