HEAVEN AND HELL To Commence World Tour In Canada In March!

According to management, HEAVEN AND HELL - the new project featuring metal icon Ronnie James Dio (vocals - DIO, BLACK SABBATH, RAINBOW), Black Sabbath legends Tony Iommi (guitar), Geezer Butler (bass) and the recent addition of Vinny Appice (drums - ex-Dio, Black Sabbath) - will be commencing their World Tour in Canada in March. There will be one exclusive US date in New York City, but the US dates won't begin until August. An official statement regarding Appice's inclusion in the band, replacing longtime Sabbath drummer Bill Ward, will be released next week.

The foursome are currently ensconced in a UK studio working on two new tracks for the forthcoming Rhino Records compilation, Black Sabbath: The Dio Years. The new material - the first from the Dio/Iommi/Butler/Appice team since 1992's Dehumanizer - is being produced by Iommi and is expected in early 2007.

HEAVEN AND HELL To Play Toronto On March 22nd

HEAVEN AND HELL, the band featuring RONNIE JAMES DIO (vocals), Tony Iommi (guitar - BLACK SABBATH), Geezer Butler (bass - Black Sabbath) and Vinnie Appice (drums), will perform at Toronto's Air Canada Center on March 22nd. More details to follow.

As previously reported, Heaven And Hell will be commencing their World Tour in Vancouver, BC on March 3rd and they will play at least seven shows across Canada, ending in Toronto (other stops may include Ottawa, London, Quebec City and Montreal). Venue sizes will range from 5-10,000 seaters. Other possible countries include South America, Japan, Korea, Australia and Europe before returning to North America for a US tour in August.

The wait is very nearly over! The final pieces of the jigsaw are being put in place ahead of an official tour announcement early next week with full details of all confirmed tour dates and support acts.

HEAVEN AND HELL Confirm New York City Show

Black-Sabbath.com webmaster Joe Siegler has issued the following update:

"OK, I got done listening to the Geezer Butler and Ronnie James Dio interviews with Eddie Trunk. I wasn't planning on staying up, as I was pretty tired, but I got into it. Was nice chatting with some of y'all over on Eddie's site during the show. Wanted to post a few updates based on what was said. Here's some tidbits. These were all said by either Geezer, Ronnie, or Eddie on the show.

As I covered earlier in the evening, the first US gig for the Heaven And Hell tour will be March 30th at Radio City Music Hall in New York City. There will be no opening act for this show, it's just Heaven & Hell. Tickets are expected to be priced between $54.00 - $74.00 and go on sale Friday, January 26th at 10am.

There will be other US dates, likely in August. No further info is available on them yet.

After the US dates, they will likely play UK, Japan, and Australia.

Both Geezer and Ronnie said that it is pretty likely there will be no Ozzy era tracks played during the Heaven & Hell shows.
Tour rehearsals start roughly two weeks from now.
Black Sabbath: The Dio years will be released April 3rd.
All three newly recorded tracks will be on the Black Sabbath: The Dio Years album. It was previously reported that only two would be, but all three will be there.

There are no keyboards on the newly recorded tracks.
Keyboards on the tour will be handled by Scott Warren from DIO's band.

Geezer did not write any of this new stuff, nor did Bill or Vinny - these tracks were written by Tony and Ronnie. Side note: A recent Rudy Sarzo interview said that two of the three new Sab tracks were originally ideas Ronnie had put forth for the next Dio album, but got used here instead.
Ronnie feels that this was never intended to be a full fledged reunion when it started, just the couple of tracks for the compilation. He did say that the opportunity to dust off the old Dio era tracks was too great to pass up. Finally, he said that history has shown they can't plan too far ahead for this, and that they do not intend at this point to carry on past the tour.

Part of the reason they called this Heaven And Hell and not Black Sabbath was that they all felt that Sabbath was "back together" for awhile now with Oz, and that since they went into the hall of fame with that lineup, that that's the way Black Sabbath will remain. I've said that for a few years now that we'd likely never see another lineup change in Sabbath, and it looks like that's coming to pass.

Ronnie feels that this tour/new material is an affirmation of the legacy Dio era of Sabbath. Ronnie also said that after the Heaven & Hell thing is finished, he will be going back into the studio with Dio to record Magica II and III and then tour 'with a stage show worthy of the story.'"

HEAVEN AND HELL - New York Date Sells Out In Under Two Hours

The HEAVEN AND HELL New York City date at Radio City Music Hall, scheduled for March 30th, sold out this morning in less than two ours. Tickets went on sale at 10 AM.

A message left at the band's MySpace page from "Joe" reads: "NYC SOLD OUT BABY! Giving Dio the devil horns from center orchestra, this is gonna fucking rock!"

Heaven And Hell features Ronnie James Dio (vocals), Tony Iommi (guitar), Geezer Butler (bass) and Vinnie Appice (drums).

HEAVEN AND HELL - Complete US Live Dates Confirmed

BW&BK has received the following press release:

Ronnie James Dio (vocals), Tony Iommi (guitar), Geezer Butler (bass) and Vinny Appice (drums) will reunite for the first time in 15 years as HEAVEN AND HELL Live to cast a dark spell over spring as the quartet tours the U.S. Tickets will go on sale the weekend of March 9 for all 20 stops of the American leg (except Houston, on sale March 17), which is set to launch in Phoenix on April 22. There will also be a special fan presale for all dates beginning Wednesday, March 7 at 12 Noon EST. The tour will follow in the wake of the band’s highly anticipated Radio City Music Hall concert in New York City on March 30, which sold out in a matter of minutes.

Last year, the hard-rocking quartet convened to record three new songs for Rhino Records’ era-spanning collection, BLACK SABBATH: The Dio Years, due out April 3 on Rhino/Warner Bros. Records. One of the newly recorded tracks – 'The Devil Cried' – is the first single. Bristling with the trademark Sabbath sound, the song is being well received by fans and critics alike.

The sessions for Black Sabbath: The Dio Years went so well that the band agreed to satisfy longstanding demands for a reunion tour. Set to launch in Canada on March 11, the Heaven And Hell World Tour will spotlight Dio’s tenure with Sabbath and will feature selections from all three of the group’s the studio albums, Heaven And Hell (1980), Mob Rules (1981) and Dehumanizer (1992), as well as the newly recorded tracks.

Multi-platinum recording artist MEGADETH will join the tour and preview never before heard material from the group’s new CD, United Abominations, due out May 15 on Roadrunner Records. All dates will also feature Roadrunner labelmates MACHINE HEAD who are supporting their latest album, The Blackening, set for release on March 27.
