THE GATHERING - Two Turkish Gigs Cancelled

THE GATHERING check in with the following news:

"2 Turkish gigs cancelled...

Both Ankara and Izmir's gigs are cancelled. Istanbul is still on the timetable, so The Gathering will go to Turkey, only for one gig though...

The decision was made by the Turkish booker, it was not in control of the band!

The Gathering would like to apologize for the fans that had planned to visit Ankara or Izmir concerts."

THE GATHERING Postpone Date In Istanbul Until February

THE GATHERING have issued the following update from drummer Hans Rutten:

"Dear all,

The Istanbul gig (originally scheduled for November 23rd) is postponed to February 2007. Tickets remain valid. More news will follow.

I can assure all of you the band is really dissapointed. We are looking forward though to play in Istanbul in February, with a new local promotor.

The guy dissapeared suddenly. It has nothing to do with rescheduling our European tour or that we don't feel (like) going to Turkey because of any reason or whatever bullshit reason they will tell you.

We feel sorry for all of you who bought (air)tickets.

As previously reported, for the third year in a row Darkrock Productions has organized a "Tribute To The Gathering" party night, to be held in Mexico City, Mexico on December 15th at DADA X Club [Bolivar 31, 2o. piso, Centro].

The details of the event are as follows:

- four rock bands playing covers all night long
- DJ Set background music at the bar lounge

THE GATHERING To Perform At LiveXS Awards In Amsterdam Tonight

THE GATHERING have issued the following update:

"As you know, the Gathering has won the LiveXS award 2006 for Oustanding Achievement with about 20% of the vote in an open category. They were also nominated as Best Dutch live act 2006 and best Dutch album 2006 with Home [so they might get more awards!]

To celebrate this, the band will play one song during the LiveXS Award ceremony that takes place at the Paradiso in Amsterdam on Sunday 11th. The doors open at 4:30pm."

THE GATHERING Wins Two Awards At NightLiveXS Awards; Working On New DVD And CD

Dutch rock band THE GATHERING won two awards at the annual have NightLiveXS Awards held Sunday, February 11, 2007 at Club Paradiso in Amsterdam.

Drummer Hans Rutten provides an update on the awards show and the band's current activities for 2007: "We just won two awards at this year's NightLiveXS awards. We won both the Outstanding Achievement Award and the Best Dutch Live Band Award 2006-2007. This is something great and we had a very nice evening at the show. Go here for more information. Also, some future footage from that show will be posted online soon here. You can view pictures of the band receiving the award and performing live here, here and here.

In other news, we are currently working on a DVD release, which we shall recorded in Santiago, Chile on March 24th, 2007 at the 4,000 capacity theatre Teatro Caupolicán. It will be a heavy, rock orientated DVD called A Noise Severe, a sort of the 'Yang' from A Sound Relief (which was the 'Ying') What a spiritual nonsense!

We will also start working on a new CD this spring and hopefully we will release it somewhere in 2008. We keep on touring and promoting our latest album 'Home' in 2007. We're a busy band!"

The Gathering's latest album, Home, was released in April of 2006 in North America via The End Records.

THE GATHERING - Artmania Festival Video Conference Online

MetalHead.ro has posted footage from THE GATHERING's press conference at the Artmania Festival, which took place June 15th - 17th in Sibiu, Romania. Check it out at this location.

As previously reported, The Gathering vocalist Anneke van Giersbergen recently announced she was leaving the band. Drummer Hans Rutten has issued the following update:

"Dear all,

The Gathering is currently in search for a male and/or female vocalist. You can send a short bio and one or two mp3 songs to audition@gathering.nl.

Thanks, on behalf of the Gathering."

Anneke issued the following statement regarding her departure:

”Dear people, I wanted to send out this message to all of you to inform you that I have decided to leave The Gathering. After much consideration and some serious soul searching, I feel that it is time for me to change my direction in life and develop and search out new goals.

In all the wonderful years that I have been a part of The Gathering, we, as a band, have always strongly believed in sincerity: both personally and within our music. I have always been able to give one hundred percent of myself to the band and its music. Over the last year I developed an urge to initiate my activities from a different place in my heart, focusing on myself and my family.

In order to stay true to myself, the band, crew and the fans, I see no other option than to leave the band and pursue my new goals in life and music.

I loved my 13 years with The Gathering and I take pride in all the beautiful music we have made together and will always cherish the good times we shared on the road and in the studio. The decision to leave all of this behind has been incredibly difficult, but since it's made from the heart, I strongly believe that I have to go with it. Although it saddens me to say goodbye, I have made a lot of exciting plans for the future both personally and professionally.

Thank you for all the love and support and I hope we will meet again in life and music -- Anneke.”

THE GATHERING: "As Soon As We Have Something To Say About Vocals, We Will"



www.MetalHead.ro has issued a new interview with THE GATHERING. The following is an excerpt from the interview:

Q: So first of all, many fans are wondering what's The Gathering going to do in the near future. I mean with the vocals, because the details of this vacant seat are pretty limited. No one knows anything about this.

A: "As soon as we have something to say about vocals, we will. But we will take our time and it could take a while before we have found the right people. For sure we will work with more and different vocals, both male and female, but as I said, it takes time."

Q: After Anneke's departure, did you ever think about splitting up?

A: "No, not splitting up. To put the band in the fridge for a while, but not splitting up.
