ROGER WATERS Excited About Sci-Fi Soundtrack Song
Launch Radio Networks has issued the following report from Bruce Simon:
ROGER WATERS is excited to have a song in the upcoming science fiction movie titled The Last Mimzy. The song, which is called 'Hello (I Love You)', will be heard in the film and again over the end credits, and it will also be on The Last Mimzy soundtrack. The song is not a cover of THE DOORS song of the same name, but is a new song written by Waters and Oscar-winning composer Howard Shore, whose credits include the Lord Of The Rings movies, Philadelphia, and The Silence Of The Lambs.
Waters said, "It has been great collaborating with (director) Bob Shaye and Howard Shore on The Last Mimzy. I think together we've come up with a song that captures the themes of the movie, the clash between humanity's best and worst instincts, and how a child's innocence can win the day."
According to a statement released by the film's distribution company, this is just the second time that Waters has contributed an original song to a movie -- the first was back in 1998, when the film The Legend Of The Pianist On The Ocean featured his track 'Lost Boys Calling'.
The Last Mimzy is the story of a pair of children who develop amazing powers when they find a box of what they think are toys. The film, which stars Timothy Hutton, Joely Richardson, and Michael Clarke Duncan, will be shown this month at the annual Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah, and will open nationally March 23rd.
