JOURNEY To Premier New Song This Weekend Launch Radio Networks has issued the following report from Bruce Simon:
JOURNEY will premiere a new song this weekend, when the band plays a show commemorating the 400th anniversary of the first British settlement in the US.
The track is called 'Winds Of Freedom', and a rough demo version was just laid down last week.
Lead singer Jeff Scott Soto wrote on the Journey message board, "It sounds killer if I might say so, a testament of what's to come. It starts off kinda like 'When You Love A Woman', but it's not a traditional Journey ballad, especially lyrically."
The song will have its world premiere on Saturday (May 12th), when Journey performs at the America's Cup Of Polo match between the US and English teams at Morven Park in Leesburg, Virginia. The event is being held to mark the 400th anniversary of British settlement in America, on May 14th, 1607, in Jamestown in what is now Virginia.
Journey will open the event with a version of 'The Star Spangled Banner', then return after the polo match to play a full set, which will include 'Winds Of Freedom'. Proceeds will go to the non-profit Journey For The Cure, which supports the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and the MS Society for research into multiple sclerosis.
This will be Journey's last show for the foreseeable future. Plans are underway to record a new album, with a release possible early next year.
