TANK's Algy Ward To Record Vocals For New Tracks This Month

The following brief update has been posted at the TANK website:

"Just talked to (frontman) Algy Ward (he's been sick for over month, got sinus) and Mick Tucker. Algy should put vocals on three new songs 'March', 'Stalingrad' and 'No More War', sometime this month, at least one of them will be on MySpace."

TANK - Live And Rare Available October 15th

TANK's Live And Rare album will be released on October 15th through London based label Soundhouse Records.

As previously reported, on November 19th Metal Mind Productions will issue the complete discography of Tank: The Filth Hounds Of Hades - Dogs Of War 1981 - 2002. The collection, containing Tank's full discography extended with exclusive bonus material, will be available in two editions: as a 9 CD box (8CD + DVD) and a 6 LP box.

The Filth Hounds Of Hades - Dogs Of War 1981 - 2002 includes the following albums: Filth Hounds Of Hades, Power Of Hunter, This Means War, Honour & Blood, Tank, Return Of A Filth Hound Live (only in 9CD box), War Of Attrition Live 1981 (only in 9CD box),"Still At War plus a DVD with live material recorded over several years.

All CDs were remastered using 24-bit process and feature rare bonus tracks (see the tracklist below). Both editions will also contain an extensive booklet covering Tank's biography, discography, lyrics to all songs and a selection of archive photos.

Hopefully The Filth Hounds Of Hades - Dogs Of War 1981 - 2002 will prove to you that Tank truly remains one of the most influential and skillful bands ever to infect the NWOBHM movement.

TANK – Can You Sing Blood, Guts And Beer?!

BW&BK recently spoke to Cliff Evans, guitarist for legendary NWOBHM crash ‘n’ roll rockers TANK, about the band’s quest for a new vocalist. Initially resisting announcing that it was indeed the mammoth Tank behind the missive, the “Cliff” note reads:

“Name British rock/metal band with punk edge (eight albums released) require name vocalist for European festival shows in 2009 and possible album/DVD recording. Age 30 - 40 years with experience at this level. Position doesn’t have to be permanent so if you’re in another name band and just want to guest with a cult British act for a few shows that’s cool with us. Email us at vocalist001@tiscali.co.uk .”

Adds Cliff, “I must stress that we’re moving the band forward with a more up-to-date sound and trying to lose any NWOBHM tag as this seems to be the kiss of death at the moment. From what I’ve seen recently, the bands that are left from that era have turned into cheap weekend cabaret acts. Quite sad to see. That’s not what Tank is about.”

No surprise that although live dates will be stuffed with all the hell-raisin’ biker anthems you know and love, the band is currently toiling away behind the scenes at a high creative level. Tank are indeed a beloved band with many classic records to their name, and the high quality songwriting out of the various configurations over the years bodes well for new material – as well as a fulfilling career for the successful job applicant…
