CHEAP TRICK To Be "House Band" For Sgt. Pepper Celebration This Summer

CHEAP TRICK has signed on to be the house band for a 40th anniversary celebration of THE BEATLES album Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. The events will take place on August 10th and 11th at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles, and Cheap Trick will back a number of vocalists who will re-create the Sgt. Pepper's album, as well as other Beatles favorites.

None of the singers have been announced yet for Sgt. Pepper's At 40... A Beatles Celebration, but the shows will also feature the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra and conductor Edwin Outwater.

Cheap Trick's next gig is Saturday (April 21st) in Miami Gardens, Florida.

CHEAP TRICK will perform TTHE BEATLES' Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band in it's entirety at the Hollywood Bowl on August 10th and 11th.

The concert, which will celebrate the 40th anniversary of the landmark a, will feature appearances by AIMEE MANN, JOAN OSBORNE and THE HOLLYWOOD BOWL ORCHESTRA, among others.

According to NME.com, the artists are also expected to play tracks from other Beatles releases, including 'Magical Mystery Tour', 'Norwegian Wood', and 'Eleanor Rigby'.

Over the years, Cheap Trick has recorded several Beatles-related covers, including the band's 'Magical Mystery Tour' and JOHN LENNON's 'Cold Turkey', and reportedly based their live cover of FATS DOMINO's 'Ain't That A Shame' on their Live At Budokon album on Lennon's 1975 version.

In 1980, Cheap Trick's Rick Neilson and Bun E. Carlos recorded with John Lennon and Yoko Ono for their comeback album Double Fantasy. Although their tracks weren't released at the time, their version of 'I'm Losing You' eventually appeared on the 1998 box set The John Lennon Anthology.

Cheap Trick released the album Rockford last year.

CHEAP TRICK Day Proposed By Illinois Senator




An Illinois senator has proposed that the state celebrate CHEAP TRICK day on April 1st. Senator Dave Syverson (R-Rockford) proposed the legislation. Cheap Trick guitarist Rick Nielsen visited the Illinois senate recently and charmed the legislators, according to a report in the Rockford Register Star. Nielsen announced to the senate that their new dress code would be Beatles t-shirts and then threw handfulls of guitar picks to the the crowd of senators and aides. Read the full report here.

CHEAP TRICK, a handful of special guests, and a full orchestra performed two special concerts at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles Friday and Saturday nights (August 10th and 11th), performing the entire BEATLES album Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band.

CHEAP TRICK Guitarist To Open Hotel/Restaurant/Museum In Illinois Hometown

A planned $25 million development could bring tourists from all over the world to Rockford. 13 News first told you about 'Rick's' last week, a hotel/restaurant/museum being built by CHEAP TRICK guitarist Rick Nielsen. Wednesday 13 News got an exclusive look at Rick's collection and some news about more possibilities, including a reality T.V. show about the whole project.

Soon musicians will be rockin' in Rockford. That's the hope of rock star Rick Nielsen and his business partner Brent Johnson. They're building 'Rick's' at Riverside and I-90. Rick tells us, "Steven Tyler called. He's been to Rockford a lot of times. And he'll be back."

Yep. Steven Tyler. As in the lead singer of AEROSMITH. He's not the only rock star Rick thinks will visit Rockford. Several other celebrities called to congratulate him on the project. "Scott Hamilton, Tommy Lee, Howard Stern. Didn't use any four letter words. Except Rick."

But the museum won't open for awhile. Construction hasn't even started yet. So we got an exclusive peek now at what will go inside. Rick has literally hundreds of guitars. Some he played. Some others played. "ELVIS PRESLEY guitar. WHITE STRIPES. JIMI HENDRIX. PETE TOWNSEND. CREAM. This is ERIC CLAPTON's guitar."

He also has rare guitars. One Chandler slide guitar has Cheap Trick's album In Color on it. Rick had flies put on a Parker fly guitar.
