Pour les vingt ans de cet album culte qu'est "The Final Countdown" de Europe, la vidéo "The Final Countdown Tour 1986" va revoir le jour dans une version dvd agrémentée de nombreux bonus comme une b-side de l'album, des interviews et un reportage montrant le groupe en train de redécouvrir le studio qui les a abrité le temps d'un enregistrement de légende.

EUROPE - New Album Complete; Title Revealed, European Tour In Planning For Early 2007



EUROPE have posted the following update at their official website:

"All of us in the band have just met up in Berlin to meet with our record company. We have just listened to our new CD together after the final mastering has been done. We can't believe it, we did it! A new album is ready for you. It will be released the 27th of October in Scandinavia and Europe. America and Asia will follow shortly.

It's been an intense and creative time for us in the band, we spent around 60 days of this summer, rehearsing, recording and mixing the songs. At one point we had four studios on the go at the same time. One for John's guitar overdubs, one for Joey and Mic doing vocals and keyboards, one studio where we did some programming (loops etc.) and finally one studio where Stefan Glaumann mixed the songs. We even slept in the studio and worked in shifts to get it done in time.

It has turned out to be (we think) one of the best Europe albums so far. It has a very contemporary sound but there are some classic Europe trademarks in there. We have pushed the limits again, we have taken some chances. We had a lot of fun doing it with a lot of hard work.

The name of the CD will be Secret Society. We will put samples of a few songs on our website very soon. And soon you will be able see the 'official biography' for Secret Society before anyone else, right here on our site.

At the same time we are starting to plan our next tour. It looks like we are touring Scandinavia this autumn and the rest of Europe in the beginning of 2007. After that we are planning to play festivals in Europe, tour Asia, US and the UK.

As soon as our artwork is ready, which is being done by the legendary Storm Thorgerson, we will put up a brand new look for our website with a lot of new stuff.

Looking forward to seeing you on tour, hope you enjoy our new CD. We are very proud of it."

EUROPE - New Audio Samples Available

Both songs are pulled from Europe's forthcoming album, Secret Society, which will be released on October 27th via Sanctuary. The album will be released in Japan on November 18th. Secret Society features the following tracklist:

EUROPE - The Final Countdown Tour: Live In Sweden 1986 DVD Release Date Confirmed

MVD Visual and Talent Trust are pleased to announce that EUROPE - The Final Countdown Tour: Live In Sweden 1986, will be released on DVD in North America on November 21st.

To celebrate the 20th anniversary of Europe's The Final Countdown album and tour, this 13-track live concert from Solnahallen in Stockholm in 1986 has been remastered in Dolby Digital and restored in widescreen format. The DVD features interviews with the band from 2006, and an extensive gallery with never-before-seen photos from The Final Countdown tour. It also features the only existing unreleased outtake from The Final Countdown recording sessions: 'Where Men Won't Dare', an instrumental written by (vocalist) Joey Tempest and (bassist) John Leven. Additional bonuses include the band revisiting the Powerplay Studios where they recorded The Final Countdown album, and a detailed bio.

Originally a progressive rock group, Europe failed to attain any popularity until they reworked their sound into a bombastic yet melodic pop-metal. Originally going by the name FORCE, the band - featuring founding members Joey Tempest (vocals), John Norum (guitar), and John Leven (bass) - won a national talent contest in the early '80s earning them a record contract. After changing their name to Europe and releasing two albums in Sweden (Europe and Wings Of Tomorrow), the band landed an international deal with Epic Records

EUROPE - Official Press Release Issued For Secret Society

BW&BK has received the following press release:

Few songs in the history of hard rock can whip up a concert frenzy like 'The Final Countdown'. And EUROPE, the composers of that anthemic classic, are back for more with a brand new album, Secret Society, out November 7th, via Sanctuary Records.

With their original lineup - singer Joey Tempest, guitarist John Norum, bassist John Leven, keyboardist Mic Michaeli, and drummer Ian Haugland - back in place, Europe reunited in the early 21st century, before issuing their first studio album in thirteen years, Start From The Dark, in 2004.

As evidenced by such standout tracks as the LED ZEPPELIN-esque album opening title track and the lead-off single, 'Always The Pretenders', Secret Society is undeniably edgier than previous releases.

Says Joey Tempest "It feels like we have finally arrived. Together we have written some of our best lyrics and songs. We can't wait to play the material live".

The reunion has proven to not be a mere one-off, as the group opted to entirely self-produce Secret Society themselves, while the album was mixed by Stefan Glaumann (RAMMSTEIN, WITHIN TEMPTATION) and mastered by George Marino (VELVET REVOLVER, U2).

Also featured is the unmistakable album cover art of Storm Thorgerson (pictured). As a member of the design studio Hipgnosis, Storm worked on all the classic album covers by PINK FLOYD, Led Zeppelini and PETER GABRIEL, to name just a few.

Guitarist John Norum reminisces: "Growing up, my favorite covers were done by this guy."

Storm has recently created the CD artwork for not only Europe but bands such as THE MARS VOLTA and MUSE.

Europe has also committed to giving the album a major push via worldwide touring.

Promises Norum, "We will tour Scandinavia before Christmas and the rest of Europe in the beginning of the New Year. After that, we are aiming to do some dates in the U.K. US and Asia and play the summer festivals all over Europe next summer."
