MARTY FRIEDMAN To Be Featured In Japanese Edition Of Playboy

Marty and Mari Yaguchi (Morning Musume, Tanpopo) chatted in Tokyo this week for a special feature on Marty for the Japanese edition of Playboy Magazine. Newsstand date and more info in the Japanese section.

To celebrate the 30th Anniversary of Roland/Boss Marty played 2 songs from Loudspeaker at an industry only event in Tokyo. Congratulations and thanks to Roland/Boss!

Marty and Ayaka Hirahara taped a special double DJ program for NHK Radio (broadcast 8/10 9:10 PM - 10:45 PM). Those of you in Japan can hear their live performance of 'Jupiter' and much more.

To give you an idea of the music Marty grew up with and inspired him to be the musician he is today, Sony Records Japan will be putting out a special new compilation album of exactly that. More details to follow...

In TV news, thanks to consistently high ratings, Marty's weekly Rock Fujiyama program has been extended 2 more seasons, thru March, 2007.

Loudspeaker will be released by Mascot/Provogue in Europe. Promotion begins this month.

Marty is currently in the middle of extensive media promotion in Japan to promote Loudspeaker. All complete details in the Japanese side.

The special first edition of Loudspeaker contained one bonus track, a vocal version of 'Static Rain', ending theme of Rock Fujiyama. This edition was limited to the first 10,000 copies, which sold out on the first day of release. After those went, the standard version of Loudspeaker which has an instrumental version of 'Static Rain' was put on sale.

The leadoff track from Loudspeaker, 'Elixir' has become the new ending theme for the next season of Rock Fujiyama. A video was shot for 'Elixir' on July 1st.

In TV news, Marty filmed 4 weeks worth of his segment with top model (and now singer) Shoko Nakagawa last week. Broadcast details in the Japanese side of this site. Marty's performance with superstars Ayaka Hirahara and Tomomi Kahala on NHK's POP JAM was rebroadcast on July 8th, further rebroadcast info in the Japanese section. Nippon Television's Uta Sta! which is Japan's answer to American Idol, features Marty weekly on the judges panel.

MARTY FRIEDMAN - European Release Date For New Album Confirmed, Solo Tour In Planning For April 2007

As previously reported, ex-MEGADETH guitarist Marty Friedman's latest solo album, Loudspeaker, features guest appearances by guitarists Steve Vai and John Petrucci (DREAM THEATER), bassist Billy Sheehan, keyboardist Jens Johansson (STRATOVARIUS) and drummer Jeremy Colson (CIRCUS DIABLO, THE BREED). It has been confirmed for a European release on September 22nd via Mascot Records.

MARTY FRIEDMAN's (ex-MEGADETH) official website has been updated with the following message:

"According to Ave, in Japan, cell phone downloads for songs from Marty's Loudspeaker album have topped 140,000 and show no signs of slowing down.

The leadoff track from Loudspeaker , 'Elixir' is the new ending theme for the current season of Rock Fujiyama.. Other songs from the all instrumental album are receiving heavy TV airplay on several other shows, mainly sports related.

A US release as well as a Korea release for Loudspeaker are in the works. The European edition came out on 9/15 on Mascot Records. Marty is slated to play guitar and produce an album featuring the cast of Rock Fujiyama. There will be tons of surprises! Marty's monthly feature in mainstream magazine, Nikkei Entertainment begins this month.
