The English version of the band’s biog is finally available (and will be on sale at merch booth during this fall’s North American tour). Even though certain parts are missing from the original Finnish text (“That’s the kiddie version,” I was informed by both management and English translator, Olga Pohjola) the 300+ pages describe the rise, from pre-Nightwish bands right up until the fateful final night with former singer Tarja Turunen (Oct. 21, 2005). It airs a large batch of dirty laundry including sexcapades (mostly by the crew), monetary squabbles, feelings of betrayal/inadequacies, Tarja’s onstage groping/sexual assault in South America and, most importantly, deeper motives in her firing. There’s also three separate sections of colour photos, both promo and candid. Utilizing old interviews and ones specific to this tome, all the band members, past and present have a say, as well as record company people, crew, producers, basically anyone who’s been connected to the rise of this world phenomenon.
