82nd Airborne Division Band

The 82nd Airborne Division Band's Rock Band, RISERBURN, performed for an appearance at the Fort Bragg North Post Exchange by the co-founder and bass player of the rock band KISS, Gene Simmons. Simmons' appearance coincided with the release of a line of fragrances named after the 1970's Supergroup.

Upon his arrival in a green Army HMMWV, Simmons jumped onstage, grabbed SSG Jim Donahue's bass and joined Riserburn for a rendition of the KISS anthem 'Shout It Out Loud'. He then proceeded into the PX to sign autographs and have pictures taken with the hundreds of Kiss fans who started lining up hours before for the opportunity to meet the rocker.

"Our camera crews followed myself and Rich Abramson to Las Vegas to film the ongoings for a future show. We attended the Consumer Electronics Show, where new relationships were forged for new potential ventures, among them Coby Electronics - a stellar company.

And, I attended the AVN Awards (The Adult Video Awards), where I presented with the lovely Tera Patrick - and was surprised when I was awarded the (...ahem) 1st Golden Tongue Award. I have it in front of me and it's... interesting. You'll see it on the show.

While in Vegas, we ran into various well wishers - among them: Carrot Top, who invited us to his show, which we filmed. To say he was funny, is to say a roller coaster is a nice ride. He never stopped, and my cheeks hurt from laughing. Dave Navarro, Jenna Jamison, Criss Angel, and more cleavage per square inch than... well, just "more".

One of the funnier moments happened when one of our staff was sitting next to me in the front row adjusting my microphone. Now, in front of us, the girls were going to and fro in their stiletto heeled, fully lifted and separated outfits. As he rose to his feet, he turned his face to his right and smashed headlong into two of the largest pair of God's wonders. A "head on" collision. She was fine with it - one of the hazards of her trade, one would assume. He, turned beet red. And, he became the "butt" of many a joke

According to Jewtastic.com, KISS frontman GENE SIMMONS has laughed off the racism row engulfing British reality TV, insisting there will always be prejudiced people in the world.

Celebrity Big Brother has created controversy in both Britain and India over allegations Bollywood beauty Shilpa Shetty has been subjected to a torrent of racial abuse since entering the programme’s sealed compound earlier this month.

But Simmons, who stars in his own reality show Family Jewels, says, “What’s the big deal? Some people are racist and some are not. Either you show reality, or you don’t.”

Celebrity branding has never been hotter — or more bizarre.

KISS rocker GENE SIMMONS is peddling an "elegant" new perfume. Guitar god CARLOS SANTANA has a new line of sexy women's shoes. And "Two And A Half Men" star Charlie Sheen is shaking up the kiddie couture market.

Why are these already successful stars branching out into what appears to be foreign and very unlikely territory?

You guessed right: It's all about the Benjamins.

“It doesn’t have to make sense,” Simmons told FOXNews.com. “What does KISS have to do with shampoo or coffee? Nothing. The reason to get involved in anything is commerce.”

There are other odd pairings. Donald Trump, a known teetotaler, just launched Trump Super Premium Vodka. Rocker JON BON JOVI is the co-founder of the Rock Star Baby line of baby gear. And actor Jackie Chan recently launched an organic skin care line.

“Nowadays, celebrities realize they are like stock portfolios," said Marshall Cohen, chief analyst at market research information company NPD Group. "They need to diversify, because even though they are hot today, they know tomorrow they could be gone. Finding alternative ways to put your name out there helps keep you in the spotlight for a longer amount of time."

Cohen added that celebrities like Simmons generally make between 10 and 16 percent of the gross sales of products that bear their names.

Indeed, when Simmons appears in stores to hawk his perfumes, an average of 2,500 people show up, and his product sells between $35,000 and $50,000 at every stop, said Lori Zelenko, a representative for KISS Fragrances.

"He has the magical touch. People want him to sign bottles. Gene Simmons has women who have been waiting 30 years to touch the guy," Zelenko added.

Most celebrity-branded goods are obvious attempts to ride the wave of success stirred by Sean 'Diddy' Combs' Sean John clothing line and Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen’s merchandising empire.

The $1.3 billion Olsen powerhouse, which capitalizes on the former "Full House" stars' names, has inspired BRITNEY SPEARS, PARIS HILTON, SARAH JESSICA PARKER, HILARY DUFF, JENNIFER LOPEZ and countless other stars to cash in on fashion and lifestyle products.

Hip-hop mogul Combs has similarly paved the way for other rappers to play stylist. EMINEM, SNOOP DOGG, OUTKAST and JAY-Z have all made their personal styles available at clothing stores around the country, and even JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE is living up to his “SexyBack” reputation with his new denim company William Rast.

“All it takes is one successful entity to breed competition,” said Cohen.

But what sets Sheen, Santana and KISS apart from Jessica Simpson's Dessert body cosmetics and Gwen Stefani’s L.A.M.B. apparel is the unlikeliness of the products they are selling.

What does KISS, best known for white face paint, breathing fire and rock 'n' roll, have to do with a delicate women’s body splash?

Not much, according to Simmons.

"We're a rock brand instead of just a rock band,” said the star, who launched his new KISS Her and KISS Him fragrances October 1 and has a 27-city chain of KISS restaurants in the works. "There is nothing we can’t do."

Unlikely as these products are, they are selling. CARLOS by Carlos Santana Shoes says business is booming (with partial proceeds going to charity).

And Sheen, who plays a childless ladies' man on his hit sitcom, has had steady sales with his Sheen Kidz children's clothing line, which was picked up by Los Angeles' trendy Kitson boutique and Bloomingdale's, according to Sheen Kidz.

“Being able to align yourself with a celebrity product, regardless of quantity or quality, is something stores want because the name on the product already gets recognition, which is the key to getting a jump-start on success,” said Cohen.

Most of the time, a celebrity product will sell on novelty alone. KISS fan Howie Davis, a 25-year-old New York City lawyer, wasn't impressed with the smell of KISS Him ... but he still got a kick out of it.

"I thought the packaging was a cool, classic KISS design," Davis said. "The smell is pretty generic, but I don't know how they can package a KISS smell without smelling pretty gross."

Davis added that he doesn't think people buy it for the smell.

"You're not going to impress anyone when they ask you what cologne you are wearing and you say 'KISS cologne,'" he said.

According to a recent NPD survey of 3,500 consumers, 21 percent of consumers said their purchases are influenced by celebrities or endorsements by celebrities.

And celebs like Simmons know better than to stick their tongues out at this moneymaking potential.

“Some celebrities dabble in things, but this is a business. This is show business. The business part is right up there,” he said

Rocker Gene Simmons and Longtime Love Shannon Tweed Lend their Voices to a New Episode of the Hit Animated Nickelodeon Series...

Gene Simmons and Shannon Tweed dropped by the Nicktoons Studios in Burbank, CA this week to voice act on an upcoming episode of Nickelodeon’s SpongeBob SquarePants called “20,000 Patties Under the Sea.” In the episode, Simmons will voice the role of the menacing Sea Monster who is fed Krabby Patties by SpongeBob and Patrick in attempts to keep his anger at bay. Tweed plays the Sea Monster’s mother who comes to her son’s defense after being insulted by Plankton.

While developing the episode, executive producer and KISS fan Paul Tibbitt felt Simmons’ voice would be perfect for the role. Simmons agreed and brought Tweed on the project.

"I was born for this part. I've been waiting all my life to be a Sea Monster. It's in my blood. It's what I do. It's my job. SpongeBob is jealous, as well he should be. I was brilliant," said Simmons.

“20,000 Patties Under the Sea” will air on Nickelodeon in 2008.

GENE SIMMONS' Family Jewels Second Season To Premier March 25th

USA Today are reporting that the second season of GENE SIMMONS' Family Jewels reality show will premier on A&E on March 25th.

Back in November, 2006, A&E greenlit a supersized second season of Family Jewels and begun production on 20 one-hour episodes for the new season.

A&E had ordered a 13-episode first season.

Family Jewels delivered an average 1.3 million viewers per episode. Show also improved its Monday-at-10 timeslot by 56% among adults 18-49 (766,000) and 45% among adults 25-54 (742,000) vs. the previous year.

Second-season antics - which will continue to revolve around Simmons, longtime girlfriend Shannon Tweed and their two kids - are sure to shock, Simmons told Daily Variety.

"People's jaws will drop," he said. Show's appeal is strong because "everyone wishes they had this family. Every guy wishes he was me. It shows how you can be happy."

Simmons, Leslie Greif, Adam Reed, Nancy Dubuc, Robert Sharenow and Didi O'Hearn are exec producers. The Greif Co./A Day With and the Gene Simmons Co. produce.

Indy Racing League Hands Marketing Duties To Company Run By GENE SIMMONS

Danica Patrick is now the second-most famous person tied to the Indy Racing League.

In a bold move meant to increase the humdrum circuit's pull beyond its prettiest face, the IRL handed its marketing duties Tuesday to a company run by longtime KISS frontman GENE SIMMONS and partner Richard Abramson. "It's certainly unique, no doubt about that," Brian Barnhart, the IRL's president and chief operating officer, said during a conference call. "It is aggressive and that's a stance I think we have to take. . . .

"I think it's exactly what the Indy-Car racing series needs."

The move will at least in the short-term bring more attention to open-wheel racing, which has steadily lost ground among fans, sponsors and TV networks to NASCAR in the decade since Tony George's split from now defunct CART Series.

The long-tongued, blood-spitting Simmons and Abramson, whose varied career on the business-side of Hollywood includes managing Pee-wee Herman, want to rebrand the IRL, positioning races as ideal family outings.

Their new campaign is dubbed I am INDY, complete with a rock-anthem type theme song penned by Simmons, and they want to portray a day at the track as an apple-pie, all-American event with a dose of glitz and glamour.

"We want to involve Hollywood in it more, we want to involve music in it more," said Abramson.

Added Simmons: "We intend to take Indy in areas perhaps that we haven't been before. There's going to be Indy-girl clothing lines, going to be Indy fashion shows. The idea is to virally spread this message because above and beyond the sport we plan to make this a family lifestyle."

The IRL received more than its usual share of attention last year thanks to Patrick, the photogenic female driver who finished fourth at Indianapolis 500 last year and was repeatedly profiled in the media.

But the spotlight on her irked some of her competitors, especially when it seemed that putting her before the cameras was the IRL's only marketing plan, and Simmons insisted she won't be the selling point this time around.

"What a glorious story," said Simmons. "It appeals to women, you're on the cover of Sports Illustrated, that's cool. That's a good beginning.

"Danica I'm sure will be the first one to say, 'Look, this is a great story but it's only one of a lot great stories.' And we intend to make sure that all these stories get out there.

"The stories, by the way, are the people who actually go around the track at 220 miles per hour. That's what I am INDY is all about."

Of course getting the message to resonate among North Americans - Patrick Carpentier of Joliette, Que., is the only Canadian driver on the circuit - is another challenge.

NASCAR is where it's at in racing right now, with all the other loops miles behind.

"Our job is to make sure the message is clear and has a tug of the heart," said Simmons. "Less technical and more emotional, less sport, more icon, less about the idea of people go around the track and more about this is a part of America."

We are currently finishing up a One Hour Gene Simmons Family Jewels Special on Turks And Caicos - an island/nation in the Caribbean, hosted by our good friend Premier Michael Misick. We are down here on a big, new business venture and our TV crews decided to follow me here to film the goings on. What I can say, is that the Premier, who is quite athletic and adventurous, lined up a series of "hurdles/events/experiences" he wanted me to go through, as part of my learning curve re Turks and Caicos. And, to be honest, I have never done any of them. Some of the hurdles made me scream like a 12 year-old girl bungee jumping for the first time. By the way, not far from the truth (not the 12 year old girl part, wise guy). You will see all of it soon enough."

Vancouver-Based Designer Hooks Up With KISS Legend On Moneybag Line

For 27 years, Gene Simmons (KISS) sat on his Moneybag trademark waiting for the perfect designer to collaborate with. So when the king of merch handpicked Vancouver's very Jason "Deuce" Dussault to work him on a line of bad ass Ts, bags and accessories, it was a pretty big deal - especially considering how much Dussault idolized the Kiss bassist. The bearded clothier still remembers his first meeting with the blood-spewing musician last fall.

"He had just finished getting his plastic surgery and tummy tuck," recalls Daussaltt. "So when we showed up to his house, hes had on black sunglasses and a baseball cap. His eyes were black and his face was all puffy. His whole body was bandaged up like a mummy. But that's Gene Simmons - you can't keep him down for long. Because he just wants to get up and start doing business. He's just a machine."

Over the past weekend it was reported that GENE SIMMONS had signed up for the next season of I'm A Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here!.

I chatted with Kourosh Taj, the charismatic co-president and head of programming at No Good TV, on the eve of NGTV's announcement that it would make the move to late-night TV.

Located in Beverly Hills, CA, NGTV was launched in 2000 and added Kourosh Taj - a 14 year veteran of the music and entertainment industry - to lead virtually every facet of the company from programming to content licensing. NGTV uses technology from Brightcove and Akamai to host its videos. It has received investments and continuing guidance from former chairman and CEO of A&M Records Al Cafaro, Co-President Jay Vir, and GENE SIMMONS, its chairman of the board.

After a mutual friend showed Simmons a demo tape of NGTV's content, Taj got a call to set up a meeting. "What's great about him is he got what we were doing, saw its implications, and came in as an investor. We pride ourselves that Gene invested in something he didn't create, which is not something he's done. He's there to help us build the brand and he's been very brilliant about it."

It shocks me that women keep saying "...you wife"... and can't get it through their heads there IS NO wife. Never has been. Never will be.

Women are finally FREE. You live in the 21st Century. You DON'T HAVE TO BE MARRIED, if you don't want to.
