MEGADETH Drummer Shawn Drover On LED ZEPPELIN Reunion - "This Is The Biggest Reformation In Rock History, Period"
MEGADETH drummer Shawn Drover touched base with BW&BK recently regarding the much-anticipated LED ZEPPELIN reunion show at 02 Arena tomorrow (December 10th) in London, England.
"To me, regardless if they play this one special show or do a full blown reunion tour, this is the biggest re-formation in rock history, period," Drover comments with glee. "To me, the only thing that could possibly be bigger than both VAN HALEN and THE POLICE reforming in the same year, let alone ever, would be Led Zeppelin. And I think that part of this reason is that nobody ever thought it could happen, namely the band themselves!!! They are the coolest rock stars to ever grace the planet, and it's so great that this is happening again. My band-mate (Megadeth leader Dave Mustaine) is going to the show, and I could not be happier for him. It's going to be a historic night!!!"
As for a funny Zep story from his past, Drover recollects: "I remember when tickets were about to go on sale for Led Zeppelin for the In Through The Outdoor tour in Montréal, and I was definitely going to go to the show with several friends from school. This was back in early 1980, when I was 13 years young. Then word spread on the radio that John Bonham passed away, and man that was a bad day. My school had TONS of Zep freaks, I mean hardcore fans man! Led Zeppelin was a massive part of my teenage years, and remain so to this day. I was so fortunate to actually use one of John's drum-sets for the recording of United Abominations, and just thinking of that now puts the biggest smile on my face."
Drover closes by stating his fave Zeppelin song and album: 'Communication Breakdown' and Led Zeppelin IV (click left for the true title/logo that appeared on the original vinyl release - thanks Wikipedia)
