THUNDER Confirm Title Of New Record


UK rockers THUNDER have posted the following message at their official website:

"The new Thunder LP is going to be called Robert Johnson's Tombstone, and it will be released on October 30th. The title track is the opening song on the record, and it's about the death of Mr. Johnson, the legendary blues guitar player. Just by way of a bit of background info for those of you unfamiliar with the story, RJ is supposed to have met the Devil at a crossroads, and sold his soul to Old Nick in return for his amazing guitar playing ability. He was poisoned later on by the owner of the bar he was playing in (following some excessive RJ flirting with the bar owner's girlfriend). Controversy followed even after his death, as he's reported to be buried in a couple of different places, each claiming they have him there, and the other is cashing in. All of this is covered in the lyric of the song, which I'm sure is destined to become another Thunder classic. The LP has 11 songs on it, full tracklisting to follow, along with some short sound clip tasters, in the coming weeks. I wonder why old RJ didn't ask to be made indestructible too when he did his guitar skills deal with the Devil?"

The current THUNDER DVD, Thunder Go Mad In Japan, finally gets a Japanese release on December 20th through JVC/Victor. For more details on the DVD click here. We know we're in danger of sounding like a cracked record and getting on your nerves now, but...

If you've bought the fab new Thunder single 'The Devil Made Me Do It', we would like to thank you very much for doing so, and of course apologise for asking you again. If you haven't bought it we need your help NOW.

This single is a massive thing for us, because the position we gain in the chart will either help to open (or close) a lot of doors for us and the campaign for our new LP (which is stonking). So as you can see it's vital that we get the highest position we can achieve, and as we've only got one week to do it, we don't want to leave any furrow unploughed so to speak. SO PLEASE BUY IT.

THUNDER - Xmas Show CDs Now In Stock

THUNDER check in with the following update:

"Thunder Shop have received delivery of the 2006 Xmas Show CDs today! Both the free to show goers version (The Xmas Show - Live 2006) , and the one available to non show goers (Rock City 6 - The Smell Of Snow) are now with us, and both capture the evening perfectly! A reminder of a great night for some, a taste of what you missed for others....

Those of you that have already sent in your ticket stubs will be receiving your CDs from midweek onwards, but as previously mentioned, they will be sent out in order of receipt of ticket stub. This effectively means if you sent in your stubs early, you will be at the front of the queue. If you haven't yet sent in your stubs, you are not even in the queue - so please get your skates on! If you didn't manage to pick up a form at the show just let me know via the Contact page, and I'll make sure one gets sent your way....

The second Xmas CD will be available to buy as of tomorrow, exclusively via Thunder Shop - This CD will not be available in the shops or from any other online retailer. However, we will hopefully have the CD on sale on the merch stands at the European shows next month!

THUNDER's Luke Morley Auctioning Washburn Guitar For CompAid; Issues "Impersonator" Warning

THUNDER guitarist Luke Morley is auctioning off his Washburn guitar to raise funds for CompAid. The following message has been posted at the band's website:

Your one and only chance to own a real piece of Thunder history - check out the below statement from the auction organisers:

"Luke and the band have signed his Washburn acoustic guitar, as played at Donington '90 and various Thunder tours, to raise funds for Compaid. Thunder are connected to the CompAid appeal through Martin Harris, an old mate from school days. Martin was a talented musician, who suffered a stroke and a subsequent major fit.

As a result, he will never work or play music again and is cared for full time by his wife Beverley. Martin also needs the support of CompAid for him and his family to maintain quality of life.

About CompAid...

CompAid is an outgoing and innovative organisation that profoundly helps people with congenital, acquired and/or life-limiting disabilities (e.g.Motor Neurone Disease, Multiple Sclerosis, Spina Bifida, Head Injury, Stroke). [DB] They use computers for theraputic, educational and recreational activities. In addition they run specially adapted vehicles to transport approximately 500 people a week.

The Appeal...

CompAid have lost their permanent place of residence and are looking to be re-housed. The funds raised via the appeal will go towards their long term objective of permanently rehousing themselves. In the short term it will greatly assist with the daily running costs and will allow even more deserving individuals access to to their services.
