THUNDER Release New EP, ...Half A Dozen Of The Other

UK rockers THUNDER see their website updated with the following details for their new release, the ...Half A Dozen Of The Other EP:

"Repeating the format of Six Of One, this new EP features 6 songs (3 new studio tracks and 3 live stonkers): 'Make My Day', 'Bette Davis Meltdown', 'I Believe', 'Last Man Standing' (Live), 'Chain Reaction' (Live), 'Like A Satellite' (Live).

Tracks 1 - 3 were recorded and mixed in a castle (where else?) near Bristol UK, and 4 - 6 were recorded live at Sheffield City Hall on the last UK tour. The castle is owned by a friend of the band. The new studio songs were written by Luke, you know about the live ones. Ben engineered and mixed, Luke produced, and Chris did the artwork and design.

Please note that as with Six Of One before it, HADOTO is a limited edition release, and will fit into the rather fetching box that will come with EP3 later in the year.

According to an update from the band's webmaster update: "The record was recorded at Walton Castle in Clevedon, near Bristol, in the sunny South West of England, at various times during the spring of this year. The place is not a studio as such, but the band thought the 2 foot thick stone walls and large selection of rooms and turrets would work brilliantly, so they moved all their recording kit, all the equipment, tons of cables and pipes, and their swimming trunks down to the place, and guess what? They were right! As he who controls all things, I have heard it, and it sounds fab! All songs were written by Luke, except 'Watching Over You' (which he wrote with Andy Taylor Jr and Mike Keen). As is tradition, I'll be uploading a short audio clip each week, between now and the release date. Click here for the first one. Spread the word babies, the campaign begins NOW! THUNDER Comment On New Album, Bang!

As reported earlier today, UK rockers THUNDER will be releasing their new album, Bang!, on November 3rd via Frontiers. The tracklisting is as follows: 'On The Radio', 'Stormwater', 'Carol Ann', 'Retribution', 'Candy Man', 'Have Mercy', 'Watching Over You', 'Miracle Man', 'Turn Left At California', 'Love Sucks', 'One Bullet', 'Honey'.

Thunder are entering their 20th anniversary year with a brand new album recorded in 2008 at Walton Castle, near Bristol, in England. In a never ending quest for new recording experiences, the band decided not to return to Spain, where they recorded Robert Johnson’s Tombstone, instead opting for a seriously old castle in the west of England.

Singer Danny Bowes says: “We’ve known Marge the owner for years, and always felt her castle would make a great studio, but it was only last year that we decided to see if we were right. She loved the idea, so we dipped a toe in the water by shipping our recording kit down there for a few days, just to try it out with some guitar overdubs and percussion. It was perfect, with two foot thick stone walls, and loads of different rooms to choose from, everything sounded brilliant. It was a no brainer, we had do the whole album there, so we invaded the place, recorded 20-plus songs, and stayed for three months. Marge loved it, and she got on the record too!”

Guitarist Luke Morley says: “We’ve always made our best albums in a rural, English setting, so Walton Castle was the perfect location for us. We had cables and wires running everywhere but it was definitely worth it, as it’s the best sounding album we’ve ever made. I knew we had a great batch of songs so it was a question of giving ourselves the best possible circumstances to bring them all to fruition, and we definitely function better when we’re having fun. We moved in, set up our studio, frightened the local wildlife and befriended the local landlords (who were inconsolable when we moved out), as were the better looking sheep in the neighbouring field, well that’s what Harry said anyway...”

UK rockers THUNDER will be a featured guest on IRON MAIDEN singer BRUCE DICKINSON's BBC 6 Music Friday Rock Show on November 7th. You can listen to the weekly BBC 6 Music rock show live via the internet Fridays between 10 PM and 1 AM UK Time (4 PM and 7 PM EST) here.

This year's Thunder Xmas Show will be held at Rock City in Nottingham on Wednesday, December the 17th.

According to a band update, "the now legendary mix of re-worked Thunder tunes combined with splendid cover versions will be the order of the evening, all wrapped up in festive clothing, beards, hats, inflatables, trees and of course the obligatory snow machines. In addition, I'm told that this year Harry will enter the venue in a sleigh pulled by a gaggle of reindeers, throwing presents to all and sundry. Actually I made that last bit up, but you get the vibe. The show will be recorded as usual and an exclusive Live CD will be sent to all who buy a ticket and send in their claim form."
