| ils rentrent en studio le premier mars d'après le bassiste Cliff Williams : www.Spinner.com reports that Australian hard rock icons AC/DC are getting closer to ending an eight-year drought of new music. "God, I'm ready," bassist Cliff Williams, who was in L.A. to participate at the Rock and Roll Fantasy Camp, tells Spinner.com. To that end, the group will hit the studio March 1. Almost as long as the wait for new music is the band's absence from the stage. Tour plans, however, aren't as firm. "If we go out again or when we go out again," Williams said. "You just never know. We've been around a long time, so we're going to get together and get in the studio and I fully expect we will [tour.]. I don't mean to be so negative about that. [When] the last tour ended in early '01, you'd see kids on their dads' shoulders. And these kids were like 10, 12 years old. It will be tremendous to see that again. And it's very cool — younger kids getting into older music." | |

The Sydney Morning Herald reports that an insider from Albert Music, AC/DC's long-time Australian record company, has revealed there is plenty of excitement building about a possible new album from the band.
"We're very hopeful," he said, "but at this stage there's nothing official."
AC/DC's New York management is yet to confirm rumors that the band will soon begin recording another album in the U.S. "They work on their own time frame," said the Sydney source.
"When they make a record, it's because they want to."
The band itself is now international, with members scattered across the globe. Malcolm and Angus Young divide their time between Britain and Australia (with Angus also spending time in the Netherlands because he has a Dutch wife). Singer Brian Johnson and Cliff Williams are based in the U.S., while drummer Phil Rudd lives in New Zealand.
"They can all get together pretty quickly though," the source said.
Williams told Spinner.com last month that AC/DC will enter the studio March 1 to begin recording its first new album in eight years. The web site caught up with Williams at the Rock and Roll Fantasy Camp in Los Angeles, where he said, "God I'm ready."
As for touring, however, Williams was less sure about the group's intentions. He explained, "If we go out again or when we go out again, you just never know. We've been around a long time, so we're going to get together and get in the studio and I fully expect we will (tour). I don't mean to be so negative about that."
AC/DC recently re-opened its official web site for business, although the site dismissed rumors that the band was playing some secret European shows this winter.
Reports surfaced earlier in January that AC/DC was nearly finished recording its next album, but a spokesperson for the band's Australian label, Albert Records, denied the story.

| Angus nous le confirmait il y a qques jours, sans que l'on sache ou, serait ce à Vancouver :
AC/DC said to be recording in Vancouver First new album in nearly a decade John Mackie, Vancouver Sun Published: Tuesday, March 04, 2008 Australian hard rockers AC/DC are reportedly in Vancouver to record their first new album in nearly a decade.
The website metalunderground.com is reporting the band is recording at the Warehouse Studios in Gastown. No official sources have confirmed it: The Warehouse has a policy of not saying who is recording there, and no one at AC/DC management in New York was available for comment Monday afternoon. But a blogger named Kathleen on metalunderground.com wrote that she "just saw them dining at Yew Restaurant in the Four Seasons on W. Georgia!"
This wouldn't be the first time AC/DC recorded in Vancouver. They came to town in 1990 to record The Razor's Edge at Little Mountain Sound with the late Bruce Fairbairn, mixed a live album from their 1990-91 world at the same studio, then recorded their Stiff Upper Lip album at the Warehouse in 2000

| si non, ça y est, l'enregistrement est terminé, le mixage commence :
AC/DC has finished recording its new album and is currently mixing the effort for a late 2008 release, the group's vocalist Brian Johnson revealed this morning (Tuesday, April 22) during an interview with Washigton D.C.'s DC 101 radio station. Johnson has apparently left the studio in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada where AC/DC guitarists Angus and Malcolm Young have remained with producers Mike Fraser and Brendan O'Brien in order to complete work on the CD. Brian also stated that the band will next work on getting the artwork done and take care of the promotional activities in connection with the release, to be followed by a tour.
According to Reuters, the new album will be AC/DC's first for Sony BMG's Epic Records label, which reissued the band's back catalog a few years ago.
O'Brien is also known for his work with STONE TEMPLE PILOTS, PEARL JAM, AUDIOSLAVE and VELVET REVOLVER, among others.
VH1 Classic host Eddie Trunk recently revealed on his New York radio show that AC/DC was rumored to be planning a "farewell" tour for later in the year.

| AC/DC - New Album Due Out In AugustAccording to Sony/BMG, AC/DC's as-yet-untitled forthcoming album will be released in August. As previously reported, AC/DC will sell its new album only through Wal-Mart Stores Inc in the United States. It is still unclear if the same distribution deal has been negotiated in Canada. According to Wikipedia, singer Brian Johnson revealed that for the first time since the 1988 album Blow Up Your Video, he would be handling lyrics. He also said that Angus Young has written harder riffs than those on their last album, Stiff Upper Lip (2000). The band recently finished the album in Vancouver, BC with producer Brendan O'Brien ( BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN) and engineer Mike Fraser ( METALLICA, AEROSMITH, VAN HALEN). Nous vous avions parlé il y a peu de temps d'une probable sortie d'un single tiré de l'album à venir : il sera finalement intitulé "Runaway Train" et devrait être disponible dès fin aout ! | |

As previously reported, Black Ice will be released on October 20th through Columbia Records. It is the band's first album in eight years. First single, 'Rock 'n' Roll Train', will be issued August 28th. Rollingstone.com has posted a short description of the new AC/DC's album, Black Ice, which will be available on October 21st. Here's their report: "AC/DC singer Brian Johnson promised that they’d tour in 2008. Well, he wasn’t kidding. Soon they’ll begin rehearsals in a secret location, before hitting US arenas in late fall. We heard this news at the Sony HQ on New York’s Madison Avenue, before hearing all 15 tracks of the band’s earthshaking new Black Ice, recorded in Vancouver in just eight weeks with Brendan O’Brien. On it, Brian wails about skies on fire, blood in his eyes, storms raging, lightning flashes, hard rain and pretty women. Angus Young shreds throughout (we dig his slide work on 'Decibel'), and the rhythm cats — Malcom Young, Cliff Williams and Phil Rudd — are solid as a rock. The first single is 'Rock ‘N Roll Train'; 'She Likes Rock ‘N Roll' will be a stripper anthem; and 'War Machine' (our favorite) will tear you to pieces."

| Wal-Mart Is Expected To Pull Out The Stops To Promote New AC/DC Album The following report is courtesy of Donna Kardos from here: Wal-Mart Stores Inc. said rock band AC/DC will sell its new album exclusively at namesake and Sam's Club locations in the U.S. The move - which makes the veteran rockers the latest artist to sell a new album only through Wal-Mart - highlights the company's growing music-industry clout. The AC/DC deal, however, comes at a time when the retail giant - the largest seller of compact discs in the nation - is signaling that it may rock the music world by stocking fewer CDs. Such a move is part of a trend that would further accelerate the already-steep decline of CD sales as consumers make the transition to digital music. The album, called Black Ice, will be available at the discount retailer's stores and Web sites Oct. 20, as well as on the band's Web site. It is AC/DC's first album of all-new material in eight years and will be priced at $11.88. The AC/DC arrangement aims to replicate a successful strategy recently used by fellow classic rockers the EAGLES and JOURNEY, both of whom in recent months have sold new albums exclusively at Wal-Mart. The Eagles' "Long Road Out of Eden" was the third-best selling album of 2007. Such deals exemplify the kind of special treatment Wal-Mart increasingly seeks - and receives - from artists and record labels alike. These constituencies are willing to risk their relationships with competing retailers to keep Wal-Mart happy. Unlike the Eagles or Journey, AC/DC is under contract to a major record label, Sony BMG's Columbia Records, which brokered the pact with Wal-Mart and also will benefit from sales there. Columbia's decision to sell a major new release at only one chain has the potential to alienate retailers left out. One competitor unlikely to complain is Apple Inc.'s (AAPL) digital iTunes store, where AC/DC never has made its music available. Wal-Mart is expected to pull out the stops to promote the AC/DC album, the band's 16th studio release. Such a push - including prominent displays of CDs in stores and heavy advertising - could yield blockbuster sales, in an environment in which blockbusters are increasingly rare. Wal-Mart said it will join with Columbia Records to launch "multiple activities for fans," including new product features and promotions this fall "that will bring fans closer to one of history's greatest rock bands." But even as it strikes novel deals with a handful of artists and labels, Wal-Mart is preparing changes in its approach to selling the vast majority of music. It is unclear what the upshot of those changes will be, but one likely scenario involves cuts in the number of music titles the chain carries. The announcement also comes several days after Wal-Mart bucked industry trends with reporting a 17% rise in fiscal second-quarter net income, though the world's largest retailer also warned sales gains ahead will be muted by the slow economy, soaring inflation and the end of U.S. tax-rebate checks. Even so, Wal-Mart said it expects to fare better than other retailers this year. "While inflation and higher fuel costs are pressuring suppliers, retailers and customers worldwide, we're confident that Wal-Mart is well positioned," Chief Executive H. Lee Scott Jr. said in a statement. Wal-Mart executives, frustrated by perennially declining CD sales, have been quietly exploring changes in their approach to selling music. The company has described different versions of its potential new strategy to different players in the music industry. The first single from the new AC/DC album, "Rock 'N' Roll Train," will debut next week. Wal-Mart will begin accepting pre-orders of the "Black Ice" album as well as AC/DC's latest DVD, "No Bull The Directors Cut," on Monday. Wal-Mart shares closed Friday at $59.37, and there was no premarket trading. AC/DC's first single, 'Rock 'n' Roll Train', will be issued August 28th. Black Ice tracklisting: 'Rock 'N Roll Train', 'Skies On Fire', 'Big Jack', 'Anything Goes', 'War Machine', 'Smash 'N Grab', 'Spoilin' For A Fight', 'Wheels', 'Decibel', 'Stormy May Day', 'She Likes Rock 'N Roll', 'Money Made', 'Rock N Roll Dream', 'Rocking All The Way', 'Black Ice'. | |

| AC/DC Catch The "Train" In London www.Undercover.com au has issued the following report from Paul Cashmere: AC/DC filmed their ‘Runaway Train’ video in London on Friday. The song will be the first taste of the new Black Ice album, due in October. There is still some confusion about the title of the song. Fans at the shoot also seem unaware of the proper song title with some talking it up as ‘Runaway Train’ and others calling it ‘Rock 'N' Roll Train’. They sing ‘Runaway Train” in the chorus but the title will be ‘Rock 'N' Roll Train’. For the record, the Australian label told Undercover that it is ‘Runaway Train’ at the time when we were the first to publish the album title Black Ice back on July 2nd but we later learned that the title and the chorus are two different things. Fans in London met at a film studio around 3 PM Friday and were ushered inside at around 5:30 PM. Read the full story at Undercover.com.au. | |
