MP3 players and iPods are being blamed for an increasing number of teenagers and young adults going deaf from overexposure to noise.
At least one in six Australians has permanent hearing damage and that figure is expected to skyrocket in the next decade.
Australian rock legend Angry Anderson will join audiologists today to launch Get Connected, a campaign to raise awareness of the dangers of being exposed to noise levels exceeding 85 decibels.
Audiologist Chris Brew said as little as 15 minutes of listening to music at a high level could start to cause damage.
