Italian folk metallers ELVENKING have issued the following update:

"Since we have announced the idea of the acoustic album you haven’t heard from us so much. Now we are happy to announce that we are ready to hit the studio very soon and start the recordings. On June 1st, Zender will start hitting the drums!

"In this period we have worked like hell on the songs. Everything is in place talking about the basic structures of the tracks. We are especially working on the drums since it’s the first thing to be recorded.

"Zender is going deep into the songs... another couple of rehearsals and we will be there!! There is still a lot of work to do concerning the arrangements, the harmonies etc. but we are really working hard also on that side.

"Recordings will take place once again at Sherpa Studios while we will move to Germany on the first days of August to mix the album at Gernhart Studios with Martin Buchwalter (who already worked on 'Wyrd' and 'The Scythe' albums). You can expect a good number of guest musicians playing different and unusual instruments.. and probably more suprises to come!!"

ELVENKING's latest album, "The Scythe", was released in Europe in September 2007 via AFM Records.

The band has released the video for its song "The Divided Heart". The clip was shot with director Mirco Andreis (ELDRITCH, MACBETH, DISARMONIA MUNDI) and can be viewed below.

"The Scythe" was mixed at Sonic Pump Studios in Helsinki, Finland. The mastering took place on April 10 at Finnvox Studios with Mika Jussila and Nino Laurenne.

"The Scythe" features a guest appearance on two tracks by Swedish guitarist Mike Wead (KING DIAMOND, MERCYFUL FATE, MEMENTO MORI, FIREGOD, ABSTRAKT ALGEBRA, CANDLEMASS).

ELVENKING - Original Line-Up Reunites For Bassist's Wedding

Italian metallers ELVENKING have issued the following update:

"On Saturday (June 14th) Gorlan (bass) married his fiancée Silvia. During the big party a lot of things happened, including an improvised acoustic set played by the Elves. And even more surprising was the coming on stage of Jarpen (ex-guitarist), rejoining the original line up of the band for the first time after many years.

The setlist included 'The Wanderer' and 'The Winter Wake' with Eleonora and Rafahel on stage (Elyghen on keyboards) and 'Penny Dreadful', 'Hobs An' Feathers' and a cover of the THE CORRS’ classic 'Breathless' with Jarpen and Elyghen.

Great to see the old fellows back together!

Because of Gorlan’s honeymoon he can not be on stage with the band at Morarock festival on June 20th. Our friend Daniele of CHRONIC HATE will replace Gorlan on bass for the gig.

ELVENKING's 'Rouse Your Dream' To Be Featured In Little Black Dress Film






Italian metallers ELVENKING have updated their website with the following release from Noah's Art Pictures:

Noah's Art Pictures are proud to announce that 'Rouse Your Dream' by Elvenking will be featured in their upcoming 2009 feature film release Little Black Dress. The producers were looking for just the right song to capture the spirit of a very special part of the story. It had to be about daring to dream again, and it absolutely had to rock and rock hard and then some!

Director F. Bramwell Noah (a long-time Elvenking fan) just couldn't go past the classic cut from the band's landmark release.

"Elvenking are master storytellers. They know where to dig, and they know when to dig deep. Sometimes you get something as simple as a folk tale, and sometimes you get something as dark as a parable with a twist", say Noah, "and Aydan is a songwriter that doesn't let damn deep get in the way of damn loud! And it's never just hit-and-run."

As previously reported, Two Tragedy Poets (...And A Caravan Of Weird Figures) is the name of the new acoustic album from Elvenking. It will be released in digipack and jewel case editions and will be preceded by an online single. AFM Records will release the album on November 14th in Europe. Other countries will be announced soon.
