THERION Website Redesigned

Sweden metallers THERION have posted the following message at their official website:

"Over the last months we have done an enormous amount of work on the Therion website.

* We have a brand new design/layout made by a very talented designer by the name of Pratik Kamat.
* A completely reworked discography section with the latest albums, more info about each edition and comments from Chris (Johnsson - guitar) on the latest albums.
* A brand new section, other musicians, containing all known performers. Whoever played on a Therion album or toured with them.
* A samples page with full-length downloads.
* Cleaned up everything that didn't work anymore.
* Everything is XHTML 1.1 and CSS compliant.

The last part means that Internet Explorer doesn't support the site. Therefore the old Therion site will still be around, but all content there except tour dates and news is unsupported and may be wrong so you should really get a proper browser right away."

"The Therion site has really grown big and it has become hard for me to maintain all aspects of the site while I am also working with Therion Society and the Therion Store. THERION - New Videos Available For Download

THERION's official website has been updated with the following:

"We are giving it another shot! A series of videos is now available for downloads. The quality is not the best in the world, but at least it is something. If this doesn't kill the server we will hopefully be able to put up more videos with better quality. So go on over to the Download section and grab them." http://www.megatherion.com/Downloads.xhtml

As previously reported, the recordings of the band's new album have been completed and the mixing is now in progress. The band "estimate to have the album done by the end of the month." It is set to be released on January 16th.

Le 9 décembre, THERION donneront un concert monumental : "Therion Goes Classic" au Palace Hall de Bucharest en Roumanie. Le groupe jouera accompagné de 70 musiciens de l'Academic Radio Choir, 100 de l'Orchestre radiophonique de Roumanie ainsi que des chanteurs d'opéra renommés dans le monde entier. Les recettes du concert seront reversées à une association en faveur des enfants roumains atteints de cancer.
THERION ont achevé le mix de leur nouvel album qui devrait sortir selon les prévisions, soit le 16 janvier 2007.

THERION - Title, Artwork For Forthcoming Album Revealed


THERION have issued the following update:

"And it is my great pleasure to present the title and the cover artwork of the new Therion album that is expected next year. The title is Gothic Kabbalah and this is the cover artwork."

As previously reported, the band's new album is now mixed. BW&BK's sources at Nuclear Blast have hinted at a January release, but an official release date is expected to be revealed soon.

THERION - More Details Revealed About Upcoming Romanian Classical Show

Sweden's THERION has revealed more details about their forthcoming Classical Show (with a full symphonic orchestra, choir and international opera stars) which will take place on December 9, 2006 at the Palace Hall in Bucharest, Romania. According to their site, the show will consist of the following three parts:

1. Pure orchestral versions of Therion songs. For example an opera version of Clavicula Nox.
2. Therion + orchestra and choir perform various famous works by Wagner, Mozart, Saens-Saen, Dvorak and Verdi.
3. Therion play own songs together with orchestra and choir. Of course classics that everyone would expect will be played, but also songs that have never been played before, such as 'Via Nocturna', 'Eternal Return' etc. Also a version of 'Siren Of The Woods' scored for real orchestra and with opera singers.

As previously reported, Therion recently revealed that their new singer is none other than Snowy Shaw (ex-KING DIAMOND, MERCYFUL FATE, DREAM EVIL). Their new album, Gothic Kabbalah (pictured) will be released in January 2007 via Nuclear Blast Records.

"We want to thank everyone who sent their applications for the soprano position with Therion live 2007. We have received tons of applications. Both from hopeful amateurs and professional singers. Tomorrow (November 21st) we will take a decision of who to bring. So from midnight (CET) today we won't be accepting any further applications."

THERION sortiront leur prochain double album le 15 Janvier prochain: celui-ci s'intitulera "Gothic Kabbalah" et sera présenté dans un luxueux digipack doré. Le groupe a par ailleurs fait savoir que Snowy Shaw (ex KING DIAMOND, MERCYFUL FATE, DREAM EVIL, NOTRE DAME) a rejoint le groupe en tant que vocaliste. On retrouvera aussi en invité sur l'album Ken Hensley d'Uriah Heep ainsi que le claviériste d'Yngwie Malmsteen: en-effet l'album aura une couleur rock plus 70's que les précédents. Dernière nouvelle: la chanteuse d' AESMA DAEVA, Lori Lewis, a rejoint le groupe et fera donc parti des choristes sur la prochaine tournée.

Lors d'un récent entretien que nous a accordé Christofer Johnsson (interview publiée dans le prochain n° de METALLIAN), on en sait un peu plus sur le concert "Therion Goes Classic" du 09 Décembre prochain à Bucharest. Voici quelques extraits de l'interview:
"Il n'y aura pas que des morceaux de Therion mais aussi beaucoup de pièces musicales classiques tirées du répertoire de Wagner, Dvorak, Saint-Saens, Mozart et Verdi (...) L'orchestre symphonique sera dirigé par Markus Stollenwerk, qui a déjà fait un travail remarquable avec le Lingua Mortis Orchestra de Rage. Il y aura une chorale de 70 personnes, une centaine de musiciens issus du « Romanian Radio Orchestra » et des invités prestigieux comme des chanteurs d'opéra autrichiens tous récompensés des plus hautes distinctions mondiales dans le domaine. Une version opéra de « Clavicula Nox » et de « Siren Of The Woods » seront interprétées, ainsi que l'adaptation de morceaux que l'on a jamais joué jusqu'à présent comme « Eternal Return » ou encore « Via Nocturna » (...) Le concert s'inscrit dans le cadre du projet « Ars Musicae, Ars Medicinae - Music Against Cancer » et les fonds récoltés seront reversés pour le traitement d'enfants touchés par cette maladie en Roumanie en 2007." Dernière nouvelle: Uli Jon Roth, le fameux ancien guitariste de SCORPIONS, et précurseur du mouvement métal néo-classique, sera la première partie de ce gros concert!

THERION - Limited Edition Tincase Edition Of Gothic Kabbalah Available

Nuclear Blast has issued a limited edition tincase version of THERION's new album, Gothic Kabbalah. It is limited to 500 copies and features the double-digipak version of th ealbum, a Therion postcard set and a numbered certificate of authenticity. It will be released on January 12th, the same day as the official release of the regular version of the album.
