Dear Metalheads,

only 4 weeks have passed since the end of the W:O:A which surely will remain in our and your memories for a long time.

The improvements for eg the entrance/exit are already in planning. And for all who are worrying about the festival > the festival will not become any larger and grow further; rather smaller (the limit has been reached) - but much better and cooler

and as always… FASTER – HARDER - LOUDER!

Generally we will stick to our principles - if we announce SOLD OUT then it really means sold out. This is why we are not planning any one day tickets for 2009 either. Please make sure to get your tickets in time by advance booking.

The limited X-Mas tickets for the W:O:A 2009 were completey sold out within 24 hours. As we now know 90% which bands will be available for 2009 we are starting the pre-sale for the "normal" W:O:A 2009 3-day "ALL IN" tickets. Thanx for your fab support.

We will present the first TOP acts for the BEST OF WACKEN programme some time next week and will keep you up to date with further improvements/changes to the festival 2009 in our News.

Britain's CATHEDRAL are confirmed for Wacken Open Air 2009, due to take place from July 30th - August 1st.

Organizers state:

"Dear Metalheads,

We are thrilled to announce that Cathedral are the next band in the line-up of the W:O:A 2009. For the Doom legend from England the W:O:A will be the only festival show in Germany in 2009."

Organizers of Germany's Wacken Open Air recently announced details regarding the sixth round of the W:O:A Metal Battle. The international final will be held on the WET stage at the W:O:A 2009 from July 31st-August 2nd. The first prize for the international winner is a record deal with Wacken Records. 16 countries currently participate in the W:O:A Metal Battle. ICS Festival Service GmbH, which organizes the Wacken Open Air festival, has announced that all 70,000 tickets have already been sold for next year's event, which will be held July 30 - August 1, 2009 in Wacken, Germany. "Never before [has] a festival of this size [been] sold out two times within one year," they write in a statement. "But we are not chasing after records — we 'only' want to create a great festival for you and are working on it since more than 20 years now and standing in responsibility and duty for the best fans in the world! We thank you all for your amazing support and loyalty!"

Whiplash have released the fourth in a four-part series of video blogs. The clip was shot at Concrete Island Studio and features two brand new songs entitled 'Swallow The Slaughter' and 'Fight Or Flight'.

Whiplash will enter the studio in early March to begin recording Unborn Again, with guitarist/vocalist Tony Portaro handling the production duties. Co-producing the effort will be Harris Johns, who has previously worked with CORONER, HELLOWEEN, KREATOR , SEPULTURA, SODOM and VOIVOD, among many others.

The band will also document the full recording session and will edit the footage into a free bonus DVD.
