| MEGADETH's Dave Mustaine - "It's Time To Tell You The Truth About What Is Happening In The Studio"
MEGADETH's Dave Mustaine has issued the following update:
"It's time to tell you the truth about what is happening in the studio.
We are trying really hard to come up with a record that will satisfy our new fans that love Megadeth, and that have not had to deal with the 'ups and downs' of being a fan whilst line-up changes took place. Trust me, I know that this sucks for you, because you get close to someone, or you get familiar with a certain musician and then he may be gone.
It is sad to think like that, but it is like I said before, 'We really only have just this moment together, don't we?' We have had so many different musicians in this band that when I was trying to make my point, it took quite some time to run down the list of players. You see, I was trying to tell Justis that he needs to do certain things with his band, and that he needs to be able to make the tough decisions that most 'leaders' don't have to make. And sometimes it results in line-up changes.
I told him about the very first group of people that I played with in my first setting, all the way through my first real band, through PANIC and METALLICA, ending with the long line-up list from Megadeth.
I started playing with my sister's ex-husband's (douche bag) little brother and a few guys, and switched around in that band until I met Dave Harmon and created Panic and the several line-ups with that band. Then there were the changes within Metallica that people don't know about, like 'Damien' the feminine guitarist with the feather earring and the eyeliner and the red and white striped girl's shirt; and last but certainly not least, there have been more changes in Megadeth than I would like to count.
So, here we are in the studio with three other talented men and a fantastic engineer and producer that is recording and co-producing the record with me. And if you think about it, Andy has made several of the hottest new metal records out currently, and he is one of the few people that I listen to without prejudice, so I listen to him with very honest ears.
We have 11 ideas, I think that we have four of those arranged or close to being arranged and of those 11, several of them are complete songs. i am also waiting to hear from Shawn, James, and Chris. James had something that was really great and is going to make it onto this record. Shawn had some stuff from long ago and I asked him to try to re-record it because we have been together for four years now, and since he is the second longest drummer in Megadeth, only second to Nick Menza, I feel that he deserves to have his music on this record; besides he is really good and has great chops and songwriting skills.
Sundays we take off from the studio, and Shawn and Andy go five blocks from my beach house to the sand and sunbath for the day. They've also been getting familiar with the surrounding area. I am going to head in today and work around Justis and his band (they go in on the weekend after they finish all of their school work) until we are finished with this record. I have some renewed vitality and I have been going in early and just playing my guitar by myself. But first, I have a massage for my physical therapy on my degenerative disk disease and arthritis in my neck.

| MEGADETH Mainman Dave Mustaine - "I Have Had One Of The Best Years In My Career"
MEGADETH Mainman Dave Mustaine has issued the following update:
"Allow me to borrow just a few short moments of your day and wish you the very best Christmas Holiday that you have ever experienced. I have had one of the best years in my career. Although some people may disagree, and that’s ok, but I was there, and I can attest to the fact the Megadeth currently has its best line-up, best management and crew, and I believe we are amidst one of our best sessions we have ever made. My children are up now, and I get to celebrate their lives right now, I am prouder as each day goes by with. Me, and I need to jam now so I can make them some Christmas food. I love you all, have a great day and Merry Christmas!"

| MEGADETH Mainman Dave Mustaine On Passing Of Former Manager Bud Prager - "The World Has Just Lost One Of The Heroes Of The Music Industry"
As previously reported, former MEGADETH, DAMN YANKEES, FOREIGNER manager Bud Prager lost his year-plus long battle with Esophageal Cancer at his home in Montauk, N.Y. on December 22nd.
Megadeth mainman Dave Mustaine has issued the following statement:
"I will always remember where I was when I was told that Bud had passed away. I was in my house getting ready to go to the studio to record my new record. And as recently as this last month, I replayed something Bud had said about me and my song-writing style.
Bud also was one of the first, and more accurately, one of the very few persons in the music business that showed any respect to my wife Pam, who Bud was very close to, and to me as a person, by way of mentoring and really taking a legitimate interest in me.
One incident I remember was getting "talked to" by Bud about my sniffly nose, and what it makes people "think." I just had this exact talk with my own son.
I will always remember our times together while Bud managed Megadeth as some of our most successful ever!; certainly the most successful period at radio or MTV. I extend my condolences to his lovely wife Gloria, and son Evan.
The world has just lost one of the heroes of the music industry."

| MEGADETH Frontman DAVE MUSTAINE - "12/12, 3/12, 3/12, 3/12 0/12, 0/12, 0/12, 0/12, 0/12, 0/12" MEGADETH frontman Dave Mustaine has issued the following update: 12/12, 3/12, 3/12, 3/12 0/12, 0/12, 0/12, 0/12, 0/12, 0/12 "Droogies! The above formula is based off of some fractions and the amount of work to be done still. See of you can stick with me on the way. Shawn is indeed done and back in Atlanta, 12/12. We are working on rhythms; I had three, as well as Chris that was finished, and James got two finished. I have nine left, as well as Chris and James has 10. [I was told to use the digits when writing after the number nine.] The vocals, solos, BGVs, Keyboards, effects, mixes and mastering are still left to do. We will keep you posted, but I doubt we are going to have this done in time. It wasn't for lack of trying my lovely Droogs. We have all sat around and been ready and waiting for our turn at the recording process only to have Murphy's Law interrupt us: with an interview, a photo shoot, a mix of a live DVD, some recording on the STATIC-X record, doing work on the private stuff that Andy has backed up around his neck (hehehe) and various other chat room or fan club interviews. I get there every morning and wait, Andy has been a good sport about all of the parts and working while we are getting everything lining up, James has been there a lot of the times and has been working on archive stuff, Chris has been down almost daily now going over songs with me, and we are just getting fired up!!! I have to hop off of the computer because it is needed by someone. What a great freaking day, . . . stay metal, or die trying!!!" MSGD! | |
