CIRCUS OF POWER Frontman Alex Mitchell: "I Started Writing For A New Album A While Back

CIRCUS OF POWER frontman Alex Mitchell recently took part in an interview with the band's website, CircusOfPower.net. The following is an excerpt from the interview:

Q: O.K., let's get down to C.O.P. in 2007. Rumour has it you have been writing for a new C.O.P. record. Is there any truth to that and how is it going?

A: "Yeah, I actually started writing for a new Circus album a while back. I finally gave up waiting for Rick or Gary to help me write. I have about nine or ten songs already that I've written with different people - I could care less where the songs come from, as long as they are good. Same with who plays on the record - I only want people playing on it that are dying to play on it, that will kill for it. For a long time people have been saying to me 'Al, you should do a circus record, even if those guys don't want to do it.' but I was hesitant to do it. Now I could give a fuck. I'd rather have the original guys do it, but I'm tired of trying to get blood from a stone. I'm excited to get the ball rolling, can't wait to record."

CIRCUS OF POWER Vocalist Alex Mitchell: "It'd Be Fuckin' Cool To Do Another Record..."

CIRCUS OF POWER T64253 A recent interview with CIRCUS OF POWER vocalist Alex Mitchell has been posted on the German website Heavy Metal Heaven. The following is an excerpt:

Q: Alex, will there be a new relase from C.o.P.? Title? l?

A: "Ricky and I are writing songs now, so if we come up with good material which I know we will then we'll see about somebody putting it out. It'd be fuckin cool to do another record, I would love it!!"

Q: I saw C.o.P. years ago, in Berlin, when you played support for BLACK SABBATH, and a lot of my friends left the location after you finished your show. "We just came for Circus of Power, we dont want to see the old men from Sabbath on stage!!" What's the deal? Will you come here again?“

A: "Will we ever go back to Europe? Hell yeah, as soon as somebody invites us. The best thing to do would be to put out a new CD and then make a move!"

You can read the English version of the interview at this location.

Circus Of Power recently announced a “20th Anniversary Show” in Los Angeles at The Knitting Factory on June 1st. The show will be the first in the Los Angeles area that the band has played since New Years Eve 2000/2001 when they reunited for one night to play the Troubadour.

In addition to Alex Mitchell (vocals), Ricky Beck Mahler (guitar), Ryan Maher (drums), and Marc Frappier (bass), the band will also be joined by guitarist/producer Daniel Rey (MASTERS OF REALITY, RAMONES), who produced the Circus Of Power albums Vices, Still Alive and the now-classic self-titled first LP that contained the MTV staples 'Motor' and 'Call Of The Wild'. For this special "20th Anniversary Show", the band will perform its self-titled debut in its entirety as well as choice selections from their 1990 (RCA) release Vices and Magic & Madness (Columbia, 1993).

In recognition of the newly announced L.A. show a new video clip of 'Turn Up Them Jams' can be seen here.

The clip captures the band playing with guitar player Phil Caivano (MONSTER MAGNET, BLITZPEER) at Dons Hills club in New York City. Last summer Circus Of Power played its first NYC show in over 12 years which was filmed for the upcoming long-form DVD, Got Motor? Swamp Boogie In The Big City. The DVD will include classic performances throughout the band's career as well as new footage documenting the band's "20th anniversary" shows in Austin, New York and now Los Angeles. A preview of director Drew Stone's new film Passion & Brotherhood, featuring the band performing the song 'Motor' with special guests THE CYCLE SLUTS FROM HELL can be seen here.

The band also appears in the film from Austin, Texas performing 'Heart Attack' as the soundtrack to the Urban Street - Bike Warriors All-Star segment.
