| AEROSMITH Donate Autographed Guitar To The Angel Fund One of Boston’s best loved bands, AEROSMITH, has donated an autographed guitar to raise money for The Angel Fund, an independent non-profit organization benefiting ALS research at the Cecil B. Day Neuromuscular Research Center run by Dr. Robert H. Brown, Jr. at the Massachusetts General Hospital. The guitar is up for auction on Ebay until December 31st. Band members Steven Tyler, Joe Perry, Tom Hamilton, Joey Kramer, and Brad Whitford have signed the Epiphone guitar, which comes with a certificate of authenticity. “We are extremely excited about the guitar that the band members have personally donated to The Angel Fund,” organization president Rich Kennedy said. “We are equally pleased and excited that all proceeds from this auction will go to ALS research.” “Because of the band’s generosity, along with support from individuals and corporations, we will continue to make significant strides in ALS research at Mass General,” he added. ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis), more commonly referred to as Lou Gehrig’s Disease, is a progressive, always fatal neuromuscular disease. The band learned about The Angel Fund and its efforts to raise money for ALS research from a friend who is living with the disease. The Ebay auction for the guitar has a starting bid of $1500 and the winning bidder will receive free shipping. The listing can be accessed directly by typing in the item number 300062751495 or by searching under all categories, musical instruments, guitars, electric and other electric. A picture of Steven Tyler with the guitar is featured on the Ebay listing here. “This is a perfect way to start the New Year on the right foot -- buying the guitar and supporting The Angel Fund,” Kennedy said. “It’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for the Aerosmith fan.” For more information, or to make a donation to The Angel Fund, please call 781-245-7070, or log-on to either the organization’s website at www.theangelfund.org. Donations made payable to The Angel Fund can also be sent to The Angel Fund, 649 Main Street, Wakefield, MA 01880. | |

| AEROSMITH Frontman To Speak For Peace On February 5th, AEROSMITH frontman Steven Tyler will be participating in a campaign to establish a United States Department of Peace. Tyler will be speaking as part of a lobbying effort hosted by the Peace Alliance, “a nonpartisan citizen organization advocating for legislation that supports a culture of peace.” Should the Peace Alliance achieve its goal of creating a Department of Peace, the department would create legislation that would reduce the level of violence, abuse, and poverty that plague our country. Steven Tyler will be appearing at the group’s rally on February 5 at George Washington University in Washington DC. Get more information about the event here. | |

| AEROSMITH Frontman Explains The Roots Of Tieing Scarves Around His Mic! In the 'Ask Blender' section of the March issue of Blender Magazine, A EROSMITH frontman Steven Tyler is asked about his ritual of tieing scarves around his mic stand. According to Tyler, it started as an accident. “Very early on,” he tells Blender, “I had a favorite macramé shirt that I wore onstage all the time and an Indian scarf in my hair. The shirt and scarf got worn out and torn off me eventually,” he says, but rather than throw them out, Tyler “hung them on the mic-stand for good luck. Must be the gypsy in me” The look stuck, and its now one of his trademarks. Interestingly, in addition to looking cool, the scarves doubled as a makeshift medicine cabinet. “Some of them had little pockets sewn in,” Tyler said in the band’s 2003 autobiography, “and I’d weight them with Quaaludes and Tuinals. That way I wouldn’t run out.” | |

| AEROSMITH Take DMC For A Walk In Hyde Park AEROSMITH returned to the UK for their first full live show in nine years on Saturday night (June 24), headlining the second day of Hard Rock Cafe's London Calling event in Hyde Park. Despite the poor weather conditions, the near-capacity crowd were clearly out to have a good time, standing in constant rain throughout the entire afternoon which featured performances from THE ANSWER, JET - who very nearly didn't make it due to a broken down ferry from Germany - and CHRIS CORNELL. Launching into a hit-laden set with 'Love In an Elevator', Steven Tyler's men proceeded to prove over the course of an hour that they've still got what it takes, with 'I Don't Wanna Miss A Thing' and 'Cryin'proving to be particularly popular with the crowd. The encore saw the band joined onstage by DMC from 1980s rap trio Run DMC, for the 80's rock-rap classic 'Walk This Way' which ensured that everyone went home with a smile on their face. | AEROSMITH's Joe Perry Makes Second Appearance In UK At The Concert For Diana After Band's Triumphant Hyde Park Show AEROSMITH guitarist Joe Perry, on a short break from the band’s European tour, took the stage July 1st as part of the historic Concert For Diana at Wembley Stadium, joining TOM JONES and his band on the classic 'Ain’t That A Lot of Love' (with JOSS STONE on guest vocals) and covers of PRINCE’s 'Kiss' and the ARCTIC MONKEYS' 'I Bet You Look Good On The Dancefloor'. Between this appearance, viewed by more than 500 million worldwide, and his special guest performance with KELLY CLARKSON on the season finale of American Idol, Perry and his fiery signature guitar sound (not to mention his cool, mysterious aura) have been a part of two of this year’s biggest TV events. Just days before his Concert for Diana appearance, Perry and the members of Aerosmith performed their first full live show in the UK in nine years at the massive sold-out Hyde Park Calling event (June 24th). With 50,000 fans cheering them on, the band thrilled the crowd with one Aerosmith classic after another. For the encore, they were joined onstage by rapper D.M.C. for the ground-breaking rock-rap classic 'Walk This Way' that Aerosmith recorded with RUN D.M.C. back in 1986. Aerosmith continue their overseas domination with shows in Helsinki, Finland and St. Petersburg and Moscow, Russia before hitting the road in North America again later this month. Aerosmith’s World Tour is encompassing 35 dates in 20 countries. It kicked off in May with first-ever performances in Dubai, United Arab Emirates and Bangalore, India, where they electrified a crowd of 22,000 fans at the Palace Grounds. | AEROSMITH Concert In PEI "Not Moving Anywhere"According to Theguardian.pe.ca, The Blast At The Beach concert featuring AEROSMITH will not be blasting off to a new venue. David Carver, the concert’s promoter, described a report that the concert was being moved from the Charlottetown Driving Park Entertainment Centre to the Charlottetown Airport as a “rumour.” But The Guardian has learned Carver had approached Charlottetown city council about moving the July 21 concert last Friday. Sources at City Hall say the issue was supposed to go to council Monday night, but Carver called back Monday to say the concert was staying put and the issue was not discussed by city council. Doug Newson, the CEO of the Charlottetown Airport, refused to comment on suggestions the mega-concert was going to the airport. He referred all inquiries in Carver. Carver did not say, in his e-mail correspondence with The Guardian, why he was considering moving the concert. The 10-hour music celebration features Aerosmith, CHEAP TRICK, CIARA, CHRISTA BORDEN, and SERENA RYDER. A website for the concert says 20,000 tickets have been sold “off-Island.” A limited number of regular priced tickets are still being sold, the website says.

According to the Amherst Daily News, AEROSMITH and seven other bands played to a crowd of about 35,000 during an all-day rock concert in Charlottetown Saturday night (July 21st). The Blast at the Beach concert was one of the Island’s biggest, despite periods of rain dampening fans throughout the day. Thousands of people came from off the Island, boosting sales at local hotels and restaurants. Police made 54 arrests for public drunkeness and gave 20 tickets for possession of alcohol.

| AEROSMITH Most Expensive Act To Hit Sarnia's Bayfest The following report is courtesy of Tara Hagan from Theobserver.ca: This past weekend's Sarnia Bayfest was undoubtedly the biggest yet, so it's no surprise that it came with a hefty price tag. Organizer Michele Stokley said total costs to stage the event exceeded $4 million, making it the most expensive in the concert's nine year history. Stokley and husband, Jim, are the brains behind the annual summer music extravaganza, leaving many to wonder just how the power couple pulls it off. "That used to be the biggest thing," Stokley said of public perception that they bring in big bucks from the event. But that's not the case, she said. "This year, we didn't make any money," she said, noting their purchase of a $300,000 stage and big name acts like AEROSMITH and NICKELBACK.
"It's just a huge, huge risk to put this on." She added that the couple doesn't receive any outside funding, unlike in Charlottetown, where the P.E.I. government doled out $350,000 to help bring Aerosmith to town for a show Sunday. The U.S. rockers were the most expensive act to hit the Bayfest stage this year, Stokley said. Read more here.

| AEROSMITH Road Report - From Russia With Love; Photos IncludedAEROSMITH road warrior John B. has issued the following: "Aerosmith finished up the European part of their tour in grand fashion. Russia was awesome! I always wanted to go there. I remember being a kid and being in total shock about the way people lived there. Well folks it has all changed. The world has gotten so small now. It didn’t seem as dangerous as people have made it out to be. The people were really friendly. The promoter took us out to dinner at a restaurant on a boat the night before the St. Petersburg show. The food was unbelievable and the vodka was top shelf. St. Petersburg is a great city. Our hotel was right across the street from St. Issacs Cathedral. The show in St. Pete rocked too." | AEROSMITH May Play Private Concert At Toyota Convention In HawaiiAccording to www.Kgmb9.com, the at the University Of Hawaii (in Honolulu) athletics department is about to cash in on something that has nothing to do with sports. It is all about new cars and rock-and-roll. The school will host the annual convention for Toyota dealers in the United States, and according to university sources, Toyota is bringing the super group Aerosmith to perform at a private dealers' concert. The public cannot purchase tickets for the concert, but some lucky students may get a sneak peak. UH athletics director Herman Frazier told KGMB9 10,000 Toyota dealers from around the country will arrive in late September. Their convention will be held in athletic department facilities on Manoa's lower campus. There will be meetings in the Stan Sheriff Center, a dinner on Cooke Field, and reportedly a concert by AEROSMITH at Les Murakami Stadium. | |

| AEROSMITH Road Report - "What I Did On My Summer Vacation" AEROSMITH road warrior John B. has issued the following report: "Sorry that it took so long to write but I was either really busy or really lazy or both. The guys took most of August off except for one quick trip to Las Vegas but we can’t talk about that. Joe did tape his segment with Toby Keith on the 24th right outside of Buffalo. It was weird being at that venue. Aerosmith has probably played there seven or eight times in the past ten years and this time there were no cases with the wings painted on the side in sight. I felt like I was visiting a house I use to live in but the current residents made us feel right at home. At least we had old Jim Survis and his bald dome there to make sure the Billie fiddle was in tune and sounding great. Joe and I got to the venue at about 4 in the afternoon and he ran through the song a few times with Toby and his band. After the soundcheck the guys did some interviews and chilled together on Toby’s bus before the show. They traded old Elvis stories. Joe and Toby both have good friends who were in the Memphis mafia so the tales came right from the sources. Joe’s buddy as you may know is Joe Esposito (Elvis’s Tour Manager and friend) who was also on the Elvis special quite a bit. Right after the show it was back to the airport and back to Vermont. September has just been all out! The band all got together in NYC for a rehearsal at Radio City for the Fashion Rocks show. The guys as you know did 'Walk This Way' with FERGIE and 'Dude'. WTW was always a lock but 'Pink', 'Train' and 'Ragdoll' were also in the running for the second song but “Dude” won out. Fergie was awesome! Every bit as pretty and nice in person. Steven and her just jelled and she was amazing. Joe collaborated with Emmy winner Jennifer Hudson on THE BEATLES song 'Come Together'. This wasn’t the first time Joe has performed that song on that stage. In 1991 the guys played it at the Grammys in a tribute to John Lennon. Jennifer was very shy so if you can believe it, Joe was the chatty Kathy of the two. Boy can she sing! They rehearsed in Joe’s dressing room before hitting the big stage and she practically broke glass with her high notes. After the show most of the guys flew back to Boston leaving the party animal Mr. Tyler behind to attend the after show soirées. Read more here. | AEROSMITH - New John B Road Report: "Good Night Irene!" AEROSMITH road warrior John B. has issued the following report: "Well another tour is in the books. The equipment is on a slow boat back from the last show in Honolulu to Beantown. The show was a private gig for Toyota but more on that later. After the Mansfield show the guys played in Bristow Virginia. This is another place were the band has played quite a lot the last 10 years. The guys couldn’t make it to the Walter Reed Hospital this time around so they arranged for 50 wounded soldiers to come to the show. They met with the guys and girls and posed for pictures before the show.? The Toronto show brought out Liv Tyler and son Milo. They sat on the stage left side of the stage and were serenaded all night by ole Grandpa. Liv handed me a list of songs before the show and asked if there is any way the guys would play them. Of the 7 songs, 6 were in the set including Rats but unfortunately for her Janie didn’t make the cut this night." Read more here. (Toronto - Photo Credit: Amanda Ayre) | |
