| CELTIC FROST's Tom Gabriel Fischer: "My Music And My Conduct Are Not Separable" CELTIC FROST frontman Tom Gabriel Fischer has posted the following message in his Delineation blog: "I believe we all feel that Celtic Frost's appearance (August 13th) at the For Noise festival in Pully near Lausanne, Switzerland, has been the most exceptional concert so far since the group has begun again to create and play music. It all came together, in spite of the late hour, the cold, and the pouring rain, and it was magic. And so was the magnificent audience. That same night, after the show, the others in the band chastised me, seriously, for my violent handling of my guitars at the end of our concerts. And while I can understand their point, and while some of my guitars are gifts handed to me by the band or by Martin... I have also always believed that they play with me exactly because of my aggressiveness on the instrument, that they realize that almost all music of Celtic Frost has been derived from that very trait of mine. My music and my conduct are not separable." As previously reported, the band spent 17 straight hours on August 15th in Zurich filming their video for the song 'A Dying God Coming into Human Flesh', lifted from Monotheist. | CELTIC FROST To Launch Official Webstore; Renew Collaboration With H.R. Giger To Announce New Merchandise Line BW&BK has received the following press release: On the eve of their first North American tour in 17 years, CELTIC FROST will be launching their official webstore the first week of September. Featuring a full range of merchandise the store will also offer times not available elsewhere. Keep checking the band’s website, www.celticfrost.com, for the webstore’s launch and additional Celtic Frost information. To celebrate their legendary collaboration and enduring friendship, renown Swiss surrealist H.R. Giger and Celtic Frost proudly announce the exclusive introduction of a line of specially created To Mega Therion album merchandise featuring H.R. Giger's acclaimed "Satan I" painting. In late 1983, H.R. Giger offered HELLHAMMER’s Tom Gabriel Fischer and Martin Eric Ain the free use of "Satan I" (along with the painting "Victory III") for an album cover. Honored the young Swiss band agreed to Giger’s condition that the band would refrain from making any other commercial use of the paintings, particularly for merchandising. Fischer and Ain later expanded upon the concept of Hellhammer to form Celtic Frost (1984) and the paintings were eventually used for the cover of Celtic Frost's legendary 1985 release To Mega Therion, never breaking the oath they made to H.R. Giger. In 2006, H.R. Giger granted Celtic Frost the use of "Satan I" as an oversize backdrop for the band's larger shows. To commemorate their long-standing collaboration and the band's strict compliance with H.R. Giger's wishes, H.R. Giger and Celtic Frost have decided to release, for the first time ever, an official line of "Satan I"/To Mega Therion t-shirts, hoodies, and long sleeve t-shirts. This merchandise has been designed in accordance with H.R. Giger's comprehensive instructions and has been personally approved by the artist. This is the only official "Satan I"/To Mega Therion merchandise worldwide, and it is being manufactured to the highest possible standards. Any "Satan I"/To Mega Therion merchandise not purchased either through Celtic Frost's webstore or from the official merchandise booth at Celtic Frost's concerts is bootleg merchandise and neither legal nor licensed by H.R. Giger. | |

| CELTIC FROST Comment On First Night Performance In North America Swiss metal pioneers, CELTIC FROST, launched their North American assault last night at Jaxx in Springfield, VA. The band's setlist can be viewed by clicking the image on the left.
Commenting on the first of the venue’s two shows, vocalist/guitarist Tom Gabriel Fischer had this to say: “The commencement of our first North American tour in 17 years couldn’t have been more fitting and symbolic. The aura of the concert, and our audience’s reaction, surpassed even what we experienced during the recent string of European festival appearances. It was also a huge honor for us to perform for former Celtic Frost drummer Reed St. Mark, who came down from his hometown of New York to see us. Reed was instrumental in crafting the music that has made this band what it is. One of our fans later expressed that our generosity was worth everything. But we felt that it was the audience’s generosity which made the five-year struggle to release a new album and bring our band back on the road over here truly worthwhile.”
The band will be performing in New York City for the next two nights, September 14 and 15, for shows at B.B. King’s. VIP ticket holders will have the opportunity to meet the band after the show. For those who have already purchased regular tickets and would like to upgrade to the VIP ticket package (that will allow you to stay for the meet-and-greet), please contact the ticket office through which you made your original purchase.
While in New York City Celtic Frost will be stopping by MTV’s studios to record their MTV2 Headbanger’s Ball interview that will air nationally on September 30. Also airing with the interview will be the video for 'A Dying God Coming To Human Flesh' from the band’s new album, Monotheist.
Upcoming Celtic Frost live dates can be viewed at this location.

| THESYRE Frontman Victorious In CELTIC FROST "Roadie For A Day" Contest
THESYRE singer/bassist Eric M. Syre has posted the following message on his blog: "On September 16th, in Montreal, I had the great opportunity to act as a CELTIC FROST roadie thanks to a contest the band organized on their website. I first thought about posting a long overun of the whole day when I realized that there was just too much details and enough personal stuff to bore most of you after a few lines. Instead, I decided to post some pictures and share a few memories with you. Heather Smith, Century Media's publicist, guided me around all day long to meet the band and the crew. She is a really dynamic, passionate and very friendly person who always made sure everything was fine for me. Over the day I tried to help out the band's crew as much as possible but most of all I had the chance to witness their global professionalism. I met a bunch of bands, attended even more concerts and met enough crew people over the years to tell you that the people I met on that day were simply great! I hanged around with Franco Sesa, Celtic Frost's drummer, for the first part of the day. He's a really cool, easy-going person. We joked around most of the time. We were discussing the up and downs of a busy touring schedule, norwegian musicians behaviors, european summer festivals and he shared with me some tasty scene secrets I will not post here. If you ever meet him, just ask him about Montreal's sport massages... I met Martin Eric Ain, the band's bassist and second vocalist, in the backstage area. He immediately proved himself as being a really friendly individual and also a passionate artist. Martin showed me around a bit more to the rest of the crew as we discussed about artwork, music and, obviously, Celtic Frost! Back at the scene level, I then met with Tom Gabriel Fisher, the band's legendary vocalist and guitarist. Tom is a very polite and calm person. He welcomed me like if I was a VIP! A real gentlemen who was obviously thrilled to be back in Montreal again after all those years. It's no wonder these guys became the legends they are now. They threat everyone around them with respect and you cannot help but give them back the same. There was no egos here, no silly rock star attitudes or any arrogant behavior: a classy act on all fronts! After catching the band's soundcheck I helped out with the merchandise stand. Many thanks for all the free items! At 6h30 the crowd was allowed into the venue in order to attend a short meet-and-greet with the band. They gladly took pictures and signed everyone's items. You'd be impressed by some of the relics I saw getting signed: old Hellhammer vinyls, World War 3 T-shirts, promotional items dating from the eighties and all forms of Celtic Frost releases and merchandise. Sahg and 1349 were opening tonight and the crowd gave them a good response. The diversity of the bill helped gather a varied audience where stoner-rockers hanged along black-metallers and oldschool veterans. Still, there was one reason why all those people were there... Celtic Frost took the stage at around 10h00 PM. Backed-up by a clear and punchy sound, the band unearthed a lot of old classics but also offered us new material. The combination fits real well and the audience couldn't get enough of the band's steady and powerful delivery. We had the chance to get a crushing rendition of 'Into the Crypts Of Rays' and the band closed the set with the massive 'Synagoga Satanae'. After the concert I helped out a bit uploading the gear and then rejoined with the band relaxing backstage. Tom expressed his appreciation of the crowd's reaction, letting me know it was such exchanges of energy which helped him go through all those years. After discussing for an hour with the band, it was then time for me to say goodbye and drive back home. I cannot thank the whole organization enough for letting me in all day and live that great experience. I am glad I finally met this really influential band but I am even more happy to know that they are really down-to-earth and friendly individuals. I really look forward to meet them again and can only wish them all the best for the rest of the american tour they're on right now. Now this is a band which truly deserves your support and respect! All hail the Frost!" More photos can be seen here. http://ericsyre.blogspot.com/

| CELTIC FROST Photo Gallery Expands The following message has been posted at the CELTIC FROST website ( www.celticfrost.com ): "Celtic Frost continues to expand its Photo Gallery section to include even more pictures from the current North American Monotheist tour. The Photo Gallery now includes pictures from the second night at BB King's in New York on September 15th, as well as pictures of San Francisco from The Fillmore on October 3rd (two of these pictures include 1349 singer Ravn, as he joined Celtic Frost onstage that night to perform 'The Usurper'). Click on the "Multimedia" section ( http://www.celticfrost.com/vcf/multimedia/image.html ) to view them. Also included in the New York shows are special backstage/aftershow photos which were photographed by Les Barany - agent of, among others, H.R. Giger. Barany was a critical force in helping to restablish the collaboration between Celtic Frost and H.R. Giger. This collaboration resulted in the first official H.R. Giger/Celtic Frost "Satan I/To Mega Therion" merchandise being produced for both the current tour as well as being made available at www.celticfrost.com beginning November 14th. These pictures are among the many that Les Barany photographed of the band as he travelled additionally with them to both the Montreal and Toronto shows. Thus, more photos from the tour, both onstage and off, are forthcoming..." | |

| CELTIC FROST's Martin Eric Ain - "Christ Was A Symbol Of Utter Failure And Absolute Totalitarian Control" Posted on Wednesday, October 18, 2006 at 17:39:51 CELTIC FROST bassist Martin Eric Ain spoke to Saby Reyes-Kulkarni from Browardpalmbeach.com recently about a number of topics including his early religious experiences. An excerpt from the chat found here follows: http://www.browardpalmbeach.com/Issues/2006-10-19/music/outtakes.html"My mother was a Catholic religion teacher," Ain begins. "She taught the catechism. Most probably, the reason for me joining up with the arch rebel — Satan himself! — was because that was the most powerful force to oppose my mother. I remember that traumatic experience being in a church, and there was this life-sized cross with this tormented human figure nailed, its limbs twisted and turned. I must have been about 5 or 6. That was really bizarre, having all those people around me being solemn in a way, but then, on the other hand, really getting joyous toward the end of that ritual about this person dying. And then going to the front of the church and coming back having devoured part of the body of that person. As a child, you take something like that quite literally, you know? And it was never really explained to me in a way that seemed really logical. I had nightmares. For me, religion didn't have a redemptive quality. It didn't help me to have a more positive outlook on life. It was a negative, oppressive kind of thing. Christ was a symbol of utter failure and absolute totalitarian control." | |

| CELTIC FROST "Beginning To Explore Ideas For Next Album"
CELTIC FROST leader Tom Gabriel Fischer has issued the following update:
"Following a short break following the North American tour, having brought the total of concerts performed since Celtic Frost returned to the stage at the end of May 2006 to 59, we commenced band rehearsals again at our bunker here in Zurich, Switzerland. It is also the first time that we are beginning to explore ideas for music for the next album as a band. The year had been largely dedicated to the live repertoire, and any new music and ideas were thus created individually until now.
We also felt honored that Swedish friends and fans Tobias Stranderud, Erik Gustafsson, and Jonas Svensson managed to interrupt their quest to follow the current IRON MAIDEN tour all across Europe to attend a brief Celtic Frost rehearsal on December 5, 2006, and stay overnight at Franco's (Sesa - drums) place. We shall see them again soon.
Not to mention the astounding gift we received from the world's most extraordinary Celtic Frost fan and collector, Christian Hunziker. We savored Satan's balls until utter intoxication."

| CELTIC FROST - In-Depth Video Interview With Tom Gabriel Fischer Available Online CELTIC FROST guitarist and singer Tom Gabriel Fischer spoke with UVTV (Underground Video Television) in November on the band’s tour stop in Binghamton NY. The result is an in depth video interview feature “In Their Own Words” in which Tom expresses his feelings and views on a number of topics including the formation of Celtic Frost, how his childhood and upbringing has shaped his life, the reformation of Celtic Frost after they had disbanded, the intensity of their shows and fans, his feelings about the influence of Celtic Frost on both their fans and other artists, the making of their latest Century Media release Monotheist, and in a UVTV exclusive Tom reveals the possibility of Celtic Frost making 2 live DVD’s. Tom spoke candidly and emotionally about his troubled childhood and upbringing and how that inspired him to create Celtic Frost and express himself through his music. “We were slaves from the society that we hated... slaves to the system... little kids that had no other outlet than our music”, Tom explains. He goes on to say that, “because of our radical backgrounds that is why our music became so radical as well.” Speaking on the making of Monotheist Tom states, “We created everything - we hired a Producer, we did the artwork... we wanted to have full control.” Tom goes on later to give advice to young bands. Based on his experience he suggests, “retain as much control as you can in everything on every level from the artwork to the music, the merchandising, who is going to be the producer, the studio... everything... that takes a lot of courage... you know what you sound like nobody else does... don’t give up the control.” Speaking on the influence Celtic Frost has had over the years Tom is humbled. “It’s a huge honor for us... it feels very strange for me that other big bands would quote us as an influence. It seems so incomprehensible.” He then goes on to talk about his childhood in great detail and how that shaped him, his ideals and goals as he matured into an adult seeking to express that upbringing in his music. “Celtic Frost was my escape from the society I hated killing animals, destroying the planet, polluting the air, fighting wars, lying to each other, everything I detest. Celtic Frost became my own little revolution, my own world, total extreme metal.” While touching on a myriad of other topics during the video interview Tom also spoke about the Celtic Frost body of work thus far and revealed ambitious plans to make 2 live DVDs. “This is a very ambitious band this is what Celtic Frost is all about. If we cease to be ambitious then we cease to have a reason to exist”. He continues, “If everything goes according to plan there will be 2 live DVDs. There no guarantee that either will be realized... but if we can it will be 2 live DVDs like nothing that exists right now. We want to do something special like our albums.” Tom declined to extrapolate further about the DVD project stating that, “we are scared somebody will steal the ideas”, and that, “not even the director that we are talking to knows what it’s all about.” The band will be touring Japan in early 2007 followed by a full European tour, some festivals, then plans to return to North America and perhaps South America. Tom added “All the while we’ll be working on the next album”. The full 11-plus minute video interview feature “In Their Own Words” can be viewed at the UVTV (Underground Video Television) website | |

| CELTIC FROST Get Ready To Hit Japan For The First Time In 22 Years CELTIC FROST frontman Tom Gabriel Fischer has issued the following update: "Out of petty, pathetic vengefulness for being confronted, in a highly professional manner one might add, for utterly failing to do his job, one of those who travelled with us in North America in September, October, and November 2006, and was paid by us no less, destroyed one of the band's sacred back-up Iceman guitars as soon as unwatched for a moment after the end of the tour. Pitiable, and as soiled as his physical and mental appearance. It is, apparently, his only claim to fame, and the memory of this event shall linger forever within our ranks. In just a few hours from now, we will take Celtic Frost to Japan for the first time in 22 years. I will embark on this journey bearing the recollection of our darkest early days so long ago, when such an undertaking would have seemed all but impossible." As previously reported, Celtic Frost and KREATOR announced the supporting bands for their co-headliner tour of Europe. Personally picked by both bands, Dutch thrashers LEGION OF THE DAMNED will be taking over the special guest slot until March 29th, and Swedish black metal act WATAIN will be opening this fantastic touring package until then. Afterwards Watain will climb to the special guest position. Celtic Frost have also announced an exclusive headline appearance for their Monotheist tour at the Mascotte club in Zurich, Switzerland on March 6, 2007. There will be no special guests for this show. For a complete list of currently scheduled 2007 tour dates, head here. | |

| 1349 Guitarist On CELTIC FROST: "We Were Amazed That They Actually Liked Our Music" Candlelight Records report that 1349 guitarist Archaon was recently interviewed by Dr. Abner Mality of Wormwood Chronicles. The following is an excerpt from the interview: Q: CELTIC FROST is such a legendary band in the underground. When you first met them, were you overawed by them or did you click with them right away? A: It's so funny because there's a story to that as well. First time we met Celtic, we were touring with GORGOROTH in 2004 in Europe. The guy who is our session guitarist now, Teloch, was playing session guitar for Gorgoroth back then. That's how we got to know him. When we got to the south of Europe on that tour, we played in Switzerland and covered Celtic Frost's 'The Usurper'. When we walked off the stage, the guys were in the venue! We didn't know that. Then, it was quite overwhelming for pretty much everyone. I'm familiar with Celtic Frost and know all their classics, but I've never been a true diehard fan of them, to be honest. However, Ravn, our singer, has and our drummer Frost has. They've always been diehard Celtic Frost fans. So we met them back in 2004 and the vibe between the two bands was very good and we had a lot of fun. We invited them backstage and had a long chat with them. We were amazed that they actually liked our music! Then, in 2005, we came back there and we invited them as guests. So right before the show, Ravn brought Tom on stage, gave him the mike and just said 'Go'. And we played 'The Usurper' again, now with Tom on vocals! Since then, we've been in touch with them regularly, mainly Ravn, and we decided to try this tour, to make this possible." Read the full interview at this location | |

| CELTIC FROST Mainman Tom Gabriel Fischer - "I Still Sing According To The Breathing Technique I Learned 23 Years Ago" Av Rune from Eternal Terror webzine (Norwegian/English) spoke to CELTIC FROST mainman Tom Gabriel Fischer about a number of topics including his vocal technique. Here are a few excerpts from the chat: Eternal Terror: When did you start with extreme vocals? Fischer: "I went to London in 1981 and I was there when the first VENOM single 'In League with Satan' hit the market. I bought it and when I listened to it, it was a release to me. I have been looking for heavier metal and at that time, the heaviest I had found was MOTÖRHEAD. So when I played the Venom single I thought that this was exactly the way I wanted my own band to sound. I had formed my own band prior to when I went to London. Though, even the Venom single wasn't heavy enough for me so instead of playing it at the regular 45 rpm, I slowed it down to 33 rpm and that's when I found the sound of my own band. The singer in my band said to me: 'You're insane, that's no longer music, that's noise.' He left the band, as did everybody else, so I reformed the band which was HELLHAMMER, and since we had no singer, I began to sing myself. This was in 1982 and this was how I started." Eternal Terror: Is there anything you do on a regular basis to keep your voice in shape? Fischer: "No, not really. I still sing according to the breathing technique I learned 23 years ago, and I am very proud to say that I haven't cancelled a show because of my vocals. With this technique I can sing when I have the flu or if I have a cold; when I am sick I can still go on stage and do a full show. On this tour that we are on right now, there was a flu and of course I got it and had to do 4 or 5 shows with the flu. The only thing I do is that I warm up. I didn't use to do that back in the early '80's." Eternal Terror: Do you think it can be dangerous to do extreme vocals? Fischer: "Yes, of course. I have experienced with other extreme metal singers that I've talked to that sing without any technique. Most extreme metal bands arise from the underground in some basement or something and of course you never get exposed to any technique. You are playing with throat cancer or vocal cancer, and that is not a funny thing. I've experienced with other singers that they have similar problems to mine. I live a very healthy lifestyle; I don't drink and I don't smoke." To read the entire interview head to this location. | |

| CELTIC FROST - Official Statement Regarding Upcoming Mexican Gigs Available
CELTIC FROST have issued the following update:
"Celtic Frost will conclude their epic journey in support of the band's Monotheist album with two co-headline concerts in Mexico. The Monotheist tour began in Switzerland on May 29, 2006, and Celtic Frost will play the final two concerts of the tour at Circo Volador in Mexico City on August 10, 2007, and Cafe Iguana in Monterrey on August 11, 2007. The co-headliner for both shows will be AMON AMARTH. These concerts will be Celtic Frost's first ever in Mexico, signifying the fulfillment of a long-held ambition. Celtic Frost are very proud to finally play for the band's Mexican fans, many of whom have already come to Celtic Frost shows all over the world.
Celtic Frost have just returned to Europe from playing their first concerts in Australia, and the band has now begun appearing at a number of Europe's summer festivals. As is the case with Mexico, playing live for Australian audiences has been an ambition ever since Celtic Frost released their first few albums, and Celtic Frost feel grateful and proud about the extremely favorable reactions by both fans and media down under."

| CELTIC FROST Mainman Receives Giger GiftCELTIC FROST mainman Tom Gabriel Fischer has issued the following update: "In the course of the Giger Gang's gathering here in Switzerland on the occasion of the opening of the new H.R. Giger exhibition in Chur in early July, I was given a truly unexpected gift. Unbeknownst to me, the remarkable Eli Livingston, sculptor of Giger's and Celtic Frost's jewelry amongst other things, had crafted a unique variation of my death mask after I left the United States in May. I am astonished and infinitely grateful." | |

| CELTIC FROST Forced To Cancel Mexican Concerts Due To Drummer's IllnessCELTIC FROST mainman Tom Gabriel Fischer has issued the following update: "We were very proud and truly delighted to be invited to play our first headline concerts in Mexico this summer. As we stated many times, playing in Mexico was a long-held desire of ours. And almost everywhere we performed on this globe in the course of the Monotheist tour, there would be Mexican Celtic Frost fans who asked us when the band would finally come to their country. It is with infinite regret, then, that we have to announce that we are forced to postpone the two Mexican concerts to a later date. Our drummer, Franco Sesa, has been diagnosed with an acute otitis media (an inflammation of the middle ear) which has affected the inner ear and severely impairs his sense of balance, among other serious symptoms. The inflammation first became evident when we traveled to Finland to perform our most recent show. Franco's condition deteriorated rapidly during the flight, and he subsequently checked himself into Oulu's hospital shortly before midnight. It was only due to luck and the abbreviated festival live set that he was able to perform with us the next night. Upon Franco's return to Zurich, he immediately reported for medical treatment. We are extremely sorry to now have to announce that his condition has unfortunately not improved as quickly as hoped and predicted, and Franco was thus declared unfit to travel and perform by his doctor this afternoon. We are of course aware that no words can make up for cancelled concerts, especially such highly anticipated ones. But we wish to express our sincere apologies to all of those who had intended to come to our Mexican concerts on August 10 and 11, to all those Mexican fans who have written to us in anticipation these past few weeks, and to the promoter in Mexico, who worked so hard to make these concerts possible. We are still very much looking forward to come to Mexico under better circumstances in the near future to make up for the disappointment that this situation is causing."
