DEF LEPPARD Techs Deal With Hearing Loss, Mental Health Issues

DEF LEPPARD drum tech, Brad Madix and long-time sound engineer Robert Scovill comment on the issue of hearing loss and mental health for Mix Magazine.

"I managed to find myself re-seating a connector under the stage behind a monitor desk just as a concussion grenade went off. They used to put them under there with cases behind them to direct the 'blast' out from underneath the stage. I learned early on that if you're not doing critical listening, you should always wear ear protection." says Brad Madix.

To deal with the daily grind of a long tour, both Scovill and Madix use different methods to reduce stress levels and maintain a healthy mind.

Robert Scovill: "I try to do anything or go anywhere where I am not exposed to technology or media in any way shape or form. I love to get out and do things that have little or nothing to do with the music business and require very little technology as we know it."

Brad Madix: "I like to spend time with my family. We have a little place up in the mountains where the cell phone doesn't work and we try to get away there whenever we can."

DEF LEPPARD Schedules Rockline Return

DEF LEPPARD will appear on the nationally syndicated radio program Rockline, hosted by Bob Coburn, June 20th, 2007 at 11:30 PM (ET).

Check local listings for broadcast times in your area.

As previously reported, the band will also appear on ABC's Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Friday, June 15th at 5 past midnight (EST). The group will perform on the show.

"Please note: all reports about Def Leppard performing on ABC's Jimmy Kimmel Live! are premature, and the performance has NOT been confirmed yet. Please do not expect anything until full confirmation of the appearance appears on this page. Our apologies for the inconvenience."

"Only ten more days and the band will kick off their Summer 2007 tour in Cincinnati, OH! If you're wondering what the guys are up to until then, here's your answer: rehearsing, rehearsing, and rehearsing - the shots here show that they are up and running!

This week, rehearsals are planned in Los Angeles and after Friday's performance on Jimmy Kimmel Live the band will fly to the Midwest for the production rehearsals (involving the full stage show). This is where we'll be at to take many photos, shoot a lot of video and do a lot of interviews, so expect to see some more exciting activity on DefLeppard.com and the Fan Club site soon!

DEF LEPPARD To Reunite With Mutt Lange On New Album

DEF LEPPARD will reunite with producer Robert John "Mutt" Lange after the tour is over to write a few songs for the new album, Songs From The Sparkle Lounge, it was revealed on the June 20th edition of Rockline.

"He's very enthusiastic actually." bassist Rick Savage told listeners on Rockline. "He's just heard a few ideas that we had knocking around and he really wants to do a couple things with us, which is great after all this time that we've known him for him to still dig what we're doing and there still that chemistry there for future songs."

The collaboration would be the first between the band and Mutt Lange since 1999's Euphoria album.

DEF LEPPARD - Vault Still Selling Despite Rock Of Ages CD

DEP LEPPARD's Satellite Of Love site reports:

"Def Leppard's Vault: Greatest Hits 1980 - 1995 sits at #31 on Billboard's Top Pop Catalog Chart for week ending July 7th, 2007.

Vault has sold 4.4 million since it's release in 1995."

As previously reported, organizers for Rocklahoma, a festival of 80's rock groups located in Pryor, OK are trying to book Def Leppard for their festival in 2008. Over 30,000 people attended the 2007 festival daily according to the Tulsa World. Next year's festival is scheduled for July 11-13, 2008.

"Next year is already being planned. Organizers are looking into bringing everyone from Def Leppard to JUDAS PRIEST — bands they tried to get this year."
