| CHILDREN OF BODOM Mainman Alexi Laiho - "I'm Definitely Not Suicidal Anymore Lizar Borowski from Imhotep.no spoke to CHILDREN OF BODOM mainman Alexi Laiho recently about a number of topics. A few excerpts follow: Imhotep.no: What is your view on suicide nowadays? Laiho: “I'm definitely not suicidal anymore, but I understand that if someone is have a very bad time, this one may actually want to do it. I wouldn't support it or tell anyone to do it. On the other hand, I'm not one of these people who would say that anybody who kills himself is a coward. To commit suicide is the fucking worst thing you can do to yourself. If you do that, you must be doing pretty fucking bad. I never want to feel like that ever again. I'm not saying that I won't, but at least I'm trying not to.” Imhotep.no: What do you think that makes Children Of Bodom live performances so special not only to the fans, but also to people that don't know the band and become a fan after seeing you live? Laiho: “I think that our shows really add things that are missing on the CD. Well, not really missing, but there's definitely something more when it comes to our live performances. If you really wanna experience what Children Of Bodom is all about, you should see a Children Of Bodom show, because I think that onstage we go totally crazy, headbanging, getting the crowd going. That's what we are really all about. I believe those who still haven't had the chance of seeing us live, may experience it on the DVD.” Imhotep.no: How was the Unholy Alliance Tour to Children Of Bodom? Laiho: “That was great. I thought that was probably the best tour we've ever done in our lives. All the bands, managements, and crews, got along very well. I'm a fan of SLAYER obviously, and they're super cool guys. LAMB OF GOD is a great fucking band too. I haven't heard much of MASTODON before the tour, but I really liked them on the tour. It was a lot of fun. The response from the crowd was surprisingly good. We didn't know what we would get, because we have heard that Slayer's crowd is pretty difficult. But almost every night was great.” Read more here.

| CHILDREN OF BODOM - Novarock Festival Setlist Revealed
The following update has been posted at Finnish metallers CHILDREN OF BODOM's Scythes Of Bodom fan site:
"Last Sunday (June 17th), Children Of Bodom played their first gig since November 2006 and kicked off their festival tour 2007.
Contrary to some fans expectations, the band didn't play any new songs at the Austrian Novarock festival. During the 70 minutes of playing time, the band played standard classics, as well as the medley of 'Mask Of Sanity' and 'Deadnight Warrior', which is already known from the last North American tour. Also, the song 'Children Of Bodom' found it's way into the set again.
Here's the setlist (not in the right order): 'Hate Me!', 'Children Of Decadence', 'Living Dead Beat', 'Bodom Beach Terror', 'Mask Of Sanity'/'Deadnight Warrior', 'In Your Face', 'Angels Don't Kill', 'Children Of Bodom', 'Are You Dead Yet?', 'Needled 24/7', 'Sixpounder', 'Downfall'.
However, nobody should rule out the possiblity that Children Of Bodom will maybe present a new song to their fellow countrymen at the upcoming Finnish festivals. By the way, Alexi played some songs on his new "Pink Saw Tooth" ESP guitar.
Speaking of new songs, it is now confirmed that Children Of Bodom have indeed recorded a brand new song during the last weekend of May for Viva La Bands 2. The compilation will be relased on September 4th. Bam Margera commented it with the following words: "I've loved these guys since the day I got trashed in a Helsinki alley with them. Blazing guitar solos and a full blown metal assault... This new song is going to fucking rock and I'm psyched to see them on Viva La Bands 2. I'd have it no other way!"
In other news, Alexi and Janne appeared at the English Metal Hammer Golden Gods Awards where they met many friends and fellow musicians of other bands. Alexi was nominated in the category "shredder" but in the end the guitarists of MASTODON won the award." | |

| CHILDREN OF BODOM - 10th Anniversary Party In Planning For November, Three Song Titles From Forthcoming Album Revealed According to the official CHILDREN OF BODOM fan site Scythes Of Bodom, the band is arranging a 10th Anniversary bash, due to take place in Helsinki, Finland in November. The band's debut album, Something Wild, was officially released in Finland in November 1997. Guitarist Alexi Laiho comments: "We're planning to arrange a two night event where we will perform on the first night. Tickets will be sold even though there will be many invited guests. On the second night we'll concentrate on partying more privately, but we might indeed end up on stage, at least for small moments. Anyhow, other bands will perform on the second night. The exact date for the (Helsinki) party has not been decided yet, but we're aiming for November." In other news, three song titles from the band's forthcoming album have been revealed. They are 'Tie My Rope', which was recorded in May for Bam Margera's Viva La Bands 2 compilation, 'Roundtrip 2 Hell And Back', and 'Pretty For The Devil'. One new song was performed at this year's Tuska Festival in Helsinki but was not introduced as a new track. A March 2008 release for the as-yet-untitled album has been rumoured but nothing has been confirmed. | |
