GLENN HUGHES - First Giveaway Competition Of 2007 Announced

The official Glenn Hughes fanzine Coast To Coast (CTC) has issude the following announcement:

"Long overdue, (yes, we know!), but here it is at last.....our first Competition giveaway for 2007!

Three lucky winners will get two CD's a piece...one of each. First up is a promotional copy of the USA edition of Glenn's current solo album, Music For The Divine, which also includes the video for the song 'This House'. Second is the full release of the newly remastered Hughes/Thrall, featuring both Glenn and Pat Thrall. All you have to do is answer these three simple questions:

GLENN HUGHES To Headline Kartfestivalen In Norway

The GLENN HUGHES Picture Gallery website reports:

Glenn Hughes will appear at the award winning Kartfestivalen festival in Gvarv, Norway on July 13th,2007. This will be a very special show, with Glenn performing with some of the finest musicians in Norway, including Erland Dahlen from top Norwegian rockers MADRUGADA, on drums.

This is not a performance by Glenn Hughes and his band; Glenn is appearing in a ‘special guest’ role with the assembled musicians, though the headlining appearance will feature him for a full set of Deep Purple classics.

The organizers say: "Kartfestivalen began in 2005, and quickly gained a reputation of being a stage for the most talented bands in Norway. Beautifully set in a natural environment, Kartfestivalen is only the second ecological festival in all Europe. It is held in a town called Gvarv, which is Norway’s hottest place. We are honoured to have Glenn at the festival, and with his appearance, we expect the temperature to reach new levels!"

GLENN HUGHES To Host Metal Express Radio's 'Guest DJ Hour' Tomorrow

Rock vocal legend GLENN HUGHES will be the host for this Friday's (April 27th) 'Guest DJ Hour' on Metal Express Radio (www.metalexpressradio.com ).

"In an interactive setting with members of the Metal Express Radio Crew, Glenn chose and will discuss 10 tracks from some bands that influenced him in the early days and who helped light his fire to become the musician and artist that he now is.

GLENN HUGHES Comments On Upcoming New York City Performance

As previously reported, vocal legend GLENN HUGHES (ex-DEEP PURPLE, BLACK SABBATH) has scheduled his first New York City performance in decades, to take place on Monday, June 4 at B.B. Kings in Times Square.

“New York is a city that has an energy like no other,” Hughes said. “I sense anticipation from my fans there, and I always feel exhilarated when I perform there. It’s gonna be tight, and it’s gonna be funky.”

The New York City show will follow a one-off weekend performance in L.A. with RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS drummer Chad Smith, who collaborated with Hughes on his latest offering, Music For The Divine.

Dubbed “the voice of rock” for his rich, soulful singing, Hughes has explored many musical paths and worked with some of the greatest musicians in the business. Smith, Hughes’ partner in crime in recent years, acted as a sounding board for Hughes’ demos before the musicians came together with longtime guitarist JJ Marsh to flesh out the tracks for “Music for the Divine.” The trio, along with help from Chili Peppers guitarist John Frusciante and Mark Kilian on keys and string arrangements, recorded “Music for the Divine” live at Smith’s Hollywood Hills home.

Doors are at 6 p.m. Showtime is at 8 p.m. Tickets are $25.00 in advance/$28.00 day of show and are available through Ticketmaster outlets.

GLENN HUGHES "Happy To Be Conferred The Title Honorary Citizen Of Kavarna"

“I am happy that I have been conferred the title Honorary Citizen Of Kavarna," vocal legend GLENN HUGHES (ex-DEEP PURPLE, BLACK SABBATH) said in an interview with Focus-Varna Radio. The main reason for his visit to Bulgaria is related to the cause of the release of five Bulgarian nurses who face death penalty over charges of having deliberately infected Libyan children with HIV. Hughes said that he intended to make the cause popular among his colleagues. He added other rock starts and him planed to organize a concert in support of the nurses.

As reported earlier, more than 2,000 people attended Hughes' concert yesterday (May 5th) in Kavarna.

GLENN HUGHES - Sanctuary To Issue Two-Disc Anthology In October

Vocal legend GLENN HUGHES (ex-DEEP PURPLE, BLACK SABBATH) has issued the following update:

"Hope you are all enjoyin' your summer. I really feel for any of my friends that have been affected by the heavy rain and floods in Europe. Things are gettin' busy soon, as tickets will go on sale for concerts in September and October. There are a coupla shows in Norway followed by shows in Spain (Valencia, Madrid and Barcelona). Also, there will be some shows in Greece at the end of September. In October there will be a South American tour where I hope to visit Chile, Argentina, Brazil and Venezuela. In the same week as my Birthday, Sanctuary is releasing The Anthology. I am very happy about this two-disc set. Keep it funky and see you on tour!"

GARY HUGHES est en train de terminer un nouvel album solo : Veritas pour une sortie en novembre :

Ten frontman Gary Hughes is currently working hard to put finishing touches to his forthcoming solo album entitled "Veritas", latin word for "Truth".

The new cd is taking shape in the Arena studios in Lancashire, UK and according to Hughes, "the songs on this album are among the strongest I have ever written in my lifetime".

"Veritas" feels like the natural successor to "Precious Ones", Gary Hughes' last solo output dated 1998. This time around Gary used a different array of players to enhance the diversity of the album. "I have gone for a variety of music styles with regard to musicians this time around", explains Gary, "drummer Dave Ingledew and bass player Rick Stewart are currently members of British Dark Metal band Devil To Pay, Jason Robinson is the drummer with Alternative Metal band Absent Minds, whilst Simon Brayshaw is the bass player with British Blues outfit Nightshift. From the Ten ranks, Chris Francis contributes with leadwork once again and John Halliwell has taken acoustic guitar duties as usual". Gary is playing keyboards and caring for all the orchestrations.

"Given the long awaited nature this album and the anticipation already beginning I have been working really hard to make this album the best I possibly can" concludes Gary "we could be sitting on a truly outstanding piece of product, and maybe a yardstick for my future releases".

Frontiers Records plans to release "Veritas" in November, with more info to be released at a later stage.
