Manager Olé Bang - A MERCYFUL FATE Reunion Is "Wishful Thinking"


Manager Olé Bang (KING DIAMOND, CANDLEMASS, MERCYFUL FATE) has commented on the recent rumors of a possible Mercyful Fate reunion:

"I have absolutely no knowledge whatsoever about what this could be based on, except pure speculation and wishful thinking. I'm in verbal or written contact with KING (DIAMOND - singer) about once a week and have been so for the last couple of years....and this has never been brought up, even for discussion. It could be fun, it might even be great, and surely a dream of many fans, but I can not offer any word or belief that it will ever happen"

In 'accurate' news, King Diamond is gearing up for the release of his new album, Give Me Your Soul... Please, due out on June 26th in North America (via Metal Blade Records) and on June 29th in Germany (via Massacre Records).

Guitarist Andy La Rocque was in Dallas, TX recently finishing the mix of the album, which King Diamond declares "is the best album yet I am positive about it. It's more King Diamond there has ever been. The story is very dark, perhaps one of the darkest I have ever done before."

King Diamond recently canceled their upcoming fall European tour - King has been diagnosed with a herniated disc in the spine, and prescribed absolute rest for several months. The North American tour will not be affected by this.

KING DIAMOND’s latest release, Give Me Your Soul… Please, which just came out June 26th, hit #174 on Billboard's Top 200 Chart.

Give Me Your Soul… Please draws from themes from the occult and both King Diamond’s personal life, after-life experiences, as well as King Diamond’s signature dark imagination. The result is a montage of murder mysteries meets nightmare dream sequences wrapped in a proto-power-metal soundtrack.

As King describes, “It’s a horror murder mystery story mixed with reality from beginning to end”.

As previously reported, KING DIAMOND management warned that the website - www.myspace.com/kingdiamond - has absolutely nothing to do with King Diamond, BAND OR PERSON. "It's a fraud and merely an impostor pretending to be King Diamond."

The site www.myspace.com/kingdiamond is now OFFICIAL. A statement at the site reads as follows: "This is the only official King Diamond MySpace website. Any other you might see, including Mercyful Fate sites, are unofficial or maybe even impostors. Please also check out our official King Diamond fanclub at www.covenworldwide.org."

KING DIAMOND Issue Statement Regarding North American Tour Cancellation

KING DIAMOND manager Ole Bang has issued the following message:

"Most regretfully we have to announce that King will not be able to tour North America as planned.

King has over the past 6 month been suffering from a herniated disc in the spine, and has still not recovered to a satisfactory level.

He was prescribed absolute rest for several months, and this appear to be more than half a year.

Following several visits to specialists and most recent MRI-scan; we have to realize that his condition need far more rest than expected in the first place. At the moment he can neither walk for more than an hour at a time, nor can he sit like you would do in a normal daily life; ie. there is no chance that he will fully recover in time for the tour start in March.

We deeply regret the inconvenience caused for everyone involved, for promoters, bands and fans; and most of all we're very very sorry that we can not go out and perform for the fans; who have been waiting for the tour to kick off.

Unfortunately life is unpredictable, and it's completely out of our hands when illness kick in, and no medicine, how harsh it might have been, can cure the situation. If anything could remedy the situation it would have been done, but for now we simply just have to wait, and let King get the much needed rest.

I will post news about any developments as soon as it's available.

At this time we will also like to say Thanks, for all the kind words of a speedy recovery we have received.

KING DIAMOND Issues Statement Regarding North American Tour Cancellation

KING DIAMOND has issued the following statement to his fans:

"As you know by now, it has been necessary to postpone the US tour due to the slow healing of my herniated disc.

I want to thank everyone for being so understanding under the circumstances, and for all the well wishes. It just shows me that we have the best fans any band could wish for.

I also very much appreciate the support and understanding I have received from all the people involved with the business side of the band, such as all the promoters, our booking agent, record label, our crew and of course the band members.

The facts are that at this point there was only about 10% chance that everything would work out as planned, and 90% chance that my back would not be completely healed in time for the tour. It could have cost a possible cancellation within the first week or so, resulting in damaging my back beyond repair, and an early end to my career and health.

Therefore the only thing that made sense was to postpone all touring activities until my back has completely healed.

"Rather postpone the US tour now and have the career run another 8-10 years (look at Dio, Alice Cooper, etc. still going strong), than take a chance where both health and career might be over within half a year."

Even though I know the situation is out of my control, I can't help but feel that this whole thing is my fault. It really just plain SUCKS, but I promise we'll make it up to all of you.

I just want to let you know that the healing process has not stopped. It IS still getting better, and I am personally confident that it will heal 100% given the time it needs (hopefully six months rather than a full year, but who knows). I am still putting 100% effort into speeding up this whole process, and I can't wait to get back to a decent normal life.

Again, I really want to personally thank you all for the understanding and all the well wishes.
