MÖTLEY CRÜE Bassist Nikki Sixx Says Heroin Diaries Soundtrack Will Be Completed Next Week




MÖTLEY CRÜE bassist Nikki Sixx has issued the following Heroin Diaries update:

"All 13 tunes are done. James (Michael) is just mixing the last few now and the album will be completly done next week. What a huge body of work we’ve pulled off. Were all proud to have this album under our wings. The band name is SIXX:A.M."

As previously reported, this Tuesday, May 22, Sixx and UGO.com will premiere the video for 'Life Is Beautiful'. This is the first single from The Heroin Diaries soundtrack, which hits stores on August 21. The Heroin Diaries CD is a precursor to Sixx’s autobiography of the same name, which arrives September 25. The album’s 12 tracks each match up with one chapter in the book; Life Is Beautiful can be streamed now from the book’s MySpace page.

NIKKI SIXX Discusses Heroin Diaries Book

In the pantheon of rock stars, there are very few that come close to embodying the rock and roll lifestyle quite like MÖTLEY CRÜE's Nikki Sixx. He taught Tommy Lee to party, became the stuff of legend in terms of his tolerance for chemicals and came back from the dead, all while writing the hair metal soundtrack to the '80s.

In addition to those Motley albums, Sixx wrote near-daily entries in his journals, documenting his decadent and depraved lifestyle, which he only recently discovered packed away in storage.

In an effort to raise money for Convenant House, a halfway house for at-risk kids and teens, Sixx is releasing The Heroin Diaries (along with an accompanying soundtrack), and laying bear every skeleton in his closet.

We sat down with Sixx to find out more about his new project."

A month later and The Heroin Diaries book will be released September 18th via MTV/VH1 Pocket Books, a division of Simon & Schuster. 25% of all book royalties will go directly to Running Wild In The Night - a charity Nikki started in association with Covenant House to help rescue homeless and runaway youth from the street.

NIKKI SIXX - "I'm Not Real Good At Leaving Things Unsaid"

Houston Chronicle correspondent Andrew Dansby recently caught up with MÖTLEY CRÜE's Nikki Sixx to discuss his new book, The Heroin Diaries. The following is an excerpt from the interview:

Q: This is pretty close-to-home stuff. Did you have any anxieties about letting such frank writing go public?

Sixx: "Y'know, either I'm completely numb or maybe it's just the motto I live by, which is whatever people think about me is none of my business. These were my diaries, that was then, this is now. Maybe they'll help somebody else. I didn't edit them; I didn't worry about parts that made me look bad. I can't tell how many people come up to me at events, even CEOs and financial types, who want to talk about how to get out of addiction. I'm hoping the book shows people they can come out the other side. There's a bigger picture than being bass player in a band."

Q: Did you leave anything out?

Sixx: "If you knew me personally, you would have never asked that question (laughs.) I'm not real good at leaving things unsaid. This is the truth. If it upsets people, I'm sorry. I wrote down what I was feeling at that time. And I allowed those around me to comment (in the book) with what they felt was their truth. I think it paints a well-rounded story. I wanted to let many voices tell one story to get a true understanding of what addiction can be, will be and will always be."
