New Album title & artwork revealed!!!


Greek melodic metal sensation FIREWIND will release its successor to 2006's highly acclaimed "Allegiance" album on March 24th, 2008. Guitarist Gus G. checks in with details on the programmatically entitled "The Premonition":



"The Premonition" is a strong title and our drummer Mark came up with the idea. A premonition means feeling something is about to happen. We've worked hard the past two years and we just have a premonition that 2008 is going to be a very fun and exciting year for us as we plan to visit again many places and countries and hope to play for our fans as well as make new ones!

Of course, you can interpret the album title in any way you want. Some people might read our lyrics and see that at times they're about the course of mankind and the so-called "end of days". So maybe this could be taken also as a warning or omen, because it's definitely something that has been on our minds lately.



I feel that the new FIREWIND album is yet another step up in our career – musically speaking. Once again we aimed for a highly variable effort as I really don't like those albums where you've listened to the first song and it's like you heard them all! This doesn't happen on a FIREWIND album and certainly not on the new one!



Regarding touring, we'll start off in Europe right after the album's release and we'll spend about five weeks on the road with Kamelot (we recently toured Japan with them and it was just fantastic!). We plan to return to the US right after that, but no dates are confirmed yet. Of course, a Japan and Pan-Asian tour is being planned currently as well as several appearances at summer festivals.

As the European release date of Greek melodic metal act FIREWIND's highly anticipated new effort "The Premonition" is drawing closer, the content of the limited edition has been revealed: The special version of the album comes with an o-card packaging and a bonus DVD dubbed "Live Premonition", which includes four brand-new songs from the album "The Premonition" recorded live in Thessaloniki, Greece, on January 12, 2008 as well as interviews with all of the band members.

FIREWIND mastermind Gus G. comments on the bonus DVD: "We worked very hard to be able to present you this bonus DVD, as we really wanted to put together a very special package for our fans this time around. The whole idea started back in late 2007 when we decided to play a show in our hometown Thessaloniki and present the whole new album live — from start to finish before it was even released. Looking back now, I realize that this was a big project to accomplish. But the night of January 12th made up for the whole work and stress. Over 1,200 crazy fans filled the Principal Theater and the vibe was just magical! We caught that on film and now we present you this bonus DVD with four songs from that show, fully edited and mixed PLUS in-depth interviews with each band member! Dig in and feel the burn of FIREWIND!"

After the upcoming European tour in April/May with KAMELOT, FIREWIND has also just been confirmed to tour in North America May as part of the "Tyranny & Bloodshred Tour 2008" alongside ARCH ENEMY, DARK TRANQUILLITY and DIVINE HERESY.

Says Gus: "I'm so happy that FIREWIND gets to return to North America as a part of this package! It’s very versatile, with really good bands on the bill. Personally speaking, I'm happy for the fact that I'll get to tour with ARCH ENEMY again. It was a blast playing with them in 2005 and Michael Amott and Co. are such great musicians and people. I have a lot of respect for them. We will give the fans a really intense setlist as we will present material from our new album, 'The Premonition', for the first time."

FIREWIND Debut Album Re-Released In Europe March 31st

FIREWIND's label Century Media Records will re-release band's debut album, Between Heaven And Hell, on March 31st in Europe. It will be packaged in artwork by Kristian Wahlin (AT THE GATES) and featuring three special bonus tracks.

As previously reported, Firewind will make their return to North America in May on the Tyranny And Bloodshred Tour '08, which could be hailed as one of the best guitar-shredder packages of the year. Songwriting wise, I think all songs are special and once again everyone was involved in the writing as we basically kept the Allegiance ‘winning team’ together. Our influences draw from Thin Lizzy to Black Sabbath and Megadeth and you can clearly hear that on the riffs and guitar melodies.”

The Premonition is a dynamic metallic assault that was once again recorded and mixed at the famed Studio Fredman in Sweden with renowned producer Fredrik Nordstrom (Arch Enemy, Dimmu Borgir). FIREWIND - Cover Of Flashdance Hit 'Maniac' Tops Charts In Greece, Gearing Up For Tyranny And Bloodshred Tour

The FIREWIND camp has issued the following update:

It seems that the Firewind boys are not only crowned local heroes in their hometown Thessaloniki, but also enjoying nationwide success with their new masterpiece, The Premonition, which was released about a month ago in Europe.

Their rock cover version of '80s smash hit 'Maniac' has been a listener’s favorite for a few weeks now at Thessaloniki’s leading rock station, Rock Radio. This week Firewind topped Rock Radio’s Top 10 charts!!!

Also, The Premonition climbed up the Greek album charts at position #11, after debuting on #21 and moving up to #15 in its second week!

Finally, this month’s issue of Metal Hammer Greece features Gus G. on their poster!

And while this is happening back home, the boys are getting ready for their much anticipated return to North America this week as part of the Tyranny & Bloodshred tour which could be hailed as one one of the best guitar – shredder packages of the year.
