KING DIAMOND, MERCYFUL FATE DVDs On The Way
Legendary metal artist
KING DIAMOND is currently putting the finishing touches to his upcoming two-DVD set that will be released via Germany's Massacre Records on January 30th, 2009. A North American release date through Metal Blade will be announced soon. The set will consist of two complete live shows from the past plus more material - no tracklisting is available yet.
In other news, there will be a
MERCYFUL FATE two-DVD set which King will work on after
King Diamond DVD is done. The release release is scheduled for April/May/June via Massacre Records. Once again, a North American release date through Metal Blade will be announced soon.
Michael Francisco from
Metalcovenant.com spoke to King Diamond earlier this year about the DVDs. King commented: "All this down time has allowed me to sift through some old 'bootleg' quality Mercyful Fate and King Diamond material which will hopefully please fans. The
Mercyful Fate material material was filmed before we were signed, and the King Diamond footage is quite rare. Brian Slagel (Metal Blade CEO) has seen the prints, and he feels that it's good quality. There's screenings from a free concert in Copenhagen shot with five cameras in broad daylight. This is the time when Andy LaRoque smashed his guitar in anger."
